I'm a retired nail technician, if you needed to repair a spot, fill it in, you can grind some of your scrap bone that matches the piece you want to repair onto a powder (there may also be bone powder color variations you can order online under dentistry supplies, it's easy enough to make though) if it's a pit or crack, fill it a little at a time with super glue, then small amounts of bone powder to soak up the glue, then add drops of super glue, then more bone powder, starting one at a time until you learn how much to add and how fast, keep filling the pit with bone powder and super glue until it's flush or very slightly more than flush. Don't worry about the color or the shine, just fill the pit or crack. If it's a hole, apply super glue first to the inside edge of the hole and dust it quickly with bone powder. Build the layers until the hole, pit or crack is filled. Allow time between fill sessions until it's completely filled for each fill session to fully dry. You'll need to practice so you'll learn the bone powder/super glue ratio that dries without being tacky, you want it dry, hard/solid, not crumbly. After it dries very well, you can begin filing the excess filling off/down until it's flush with the part you're repairing. Go light and slow until you learn how much pressure is effective without filing into your piece. You can buy a WHITE nail buffer from walmart or beauty supply or a flexible fine sanding padded file to blend it to a smooth match, (learn the grits you need for the process and final look/texture) maybe use jewelry file tools to artfully carve in textural details so it looks seamless. Be sure to test/practice on scraps before actually doing it for the first time on a good piece. I've helped other tradesmen learn how to adapt nail techniques in useful ways in their trades and they were impressed with the usefulness and results. You can watch artificial nail videos like super glue glass nails (substitute nail powder which is powdered plastic for bone powder) or acrylic nails (for filing techniques) and you'll learn quickly how to adapt the techniques into your trade. I hope this helps you or your viewers. BTW- you can screenshot this comment so you can have these tips for keeps. This was a great video and I like that you keep and display parts for esthetics and use.

Also wanted to say that all the hate is really unnecessary, and I’m sorry for it. Some people need to see this for information and others don’t need to. Just thought I’d say it, so keep doing your work!
What an interesting video, and so very useful. I’ve a few animal and bird heads from natural deaths in my freezer, waiting for me to process. I’ve been told that soaking skulls (birds, otters, stoats etc) is quicker using biological wash powder or a sachet, in water, covered, and changed regularly. I’ve always buried animals in the past, but it takes up to a couple of years before the bones are clean enough to then whiten. Skulls are really beautiful, although my friends here in the UK think it a very odd thing to like.
I wish I had found your videos yesterday! I just did my first euro on my bull and I could of used a lot of your tips. I'm subscribed and looking forward to doing the next one!

in the case of the deer jaw, it's most likely caused by an inflammation of the gums, causing the bone to retract, exposing the roots. The teeth aren't higher, it's just the retraction of the bone making it appear that way ;)
I know this may not be read by the Australian's but Bunnings Hardware have Mop and Glo, its a pink shade but doesn't stain the bone any!! Hope it helps
Not sure, only a guess, but my suspicion is that the jaw with the longer teeth is actually a result of bone decay from something like gum disease. It ate away at the bone. Someone might have already mentioned it. Anyway, great helpful video. Thanks.

Horns are hair and grow constantly thru an animals life. Antlers are bone and are shed annually. Fun fact I learned a long time ago in Hunters Ed 😅.. annoys me when some hunters call antlers "horns" 😮
Firstly I’d like to thank you for your videos! They’re super helpful and very well done. Secondly I have a question:) I don’t have a pressure washer and feel a bit strange taking heads to the DIY car wash to spray them off🤪 So I’d like to know if you’ve got any tricks to get heads clean without one(the nasal cavity specifically cuz I’m really struggling in that area right at the very back. It almost looks spongy and it’s driving me crazy). I’m working with pretty basic tools- screw drivers, scissors, paring knives, mascara wands, tooth brushes etc while I slowly build my tool supply.
I did a head the other day, but ran out of propane, so I left the skull in the hot water while I went to get more, and when I came back our lab had eaten basically the whole skull.
