A part of it is probably bc women r seen as more innocent and defenseless compared to a man, so it's considered more evil to go after them. You even see in some media where the killers will only go after men and there will be those ppl who are like "at least he didnt hurt any women." And the nudity is probably for shock value in this specific movie, which is wat this movie mostly goes for. There probably is some kind of weird thing that ppl are into somewhere in there but yea I agree it's not needed and doesn't add anything to the media.

Sienna in the sequels definetly helps to balance things a bit and really I'm not even sure she is a final girl as much as an Anti-Art powerhouse. The editing is also a lot better in the second where the shots get a bit tighter but still has some of the moments where no one reacts as fast as you'd think the should.

eeek idk it still does feel a bit weird how sexualized sienna is in 2 despite being in high school. also the inclusion of a final girl does not really do much to ease the sexism if at all. i think the problems present in 1 also come through in 2, especially comparing the bedroom scene to literally any of the male deaths. but also terrifier is a series that takes from all sorts of horror movies through the years, and misogyny is a general issue in the genre as a whole, so like it's not solely a problem with damien leone. he's kind of just going with tradition in a way. but actually despite all this i actually thought that 3 was pretty good. it took everything wrong with 1&2, not just in terms of sexism, and genuinely improved upon it all

No, because speak on it! Women are brutalized a lot more in horror films. And yeah, you have to expect some sort of violence when it comes to the horror genre. The ways they're killed, though, are much more personal. The female victims are often naked, or barely clothed. They are seemingly helpless. When they die you can just be like "She's so stupid, she should have known better." Especially in this movie, the girls are put through the maximum amount of pain. That's why films like "Pearl" are nice. It's all violence against men, and the woman is fully fleshed out. I'm someone who is scared by psychological horror, rather than body horror. That kind of stuff just grosses me out.

I watch Dead Meat/James A. Janisse's Kill Count videos, and I noticed that there are almost always more male victims in horror movies than female. This really surprised me as a lifelong horror fan, so I started paying attention more to the gender treatment while watching horror movies.
Male victims are almost universally killed very quickly, while female victims have extended chase/torture scenes. (This doesn't just include the Final Girl of the movie.) And the main reason for the gender disparity is that nameless cops in movies are almost always men, and there are TONS of scenes where the killer takes out a bunch of random cops who aren't actual characters.
Women actually consume more horror than men, but the violence and nudity is still noticeably exploited against women.

portrayal of female nudity has always been unfair in the industry but it's not only on the horror/gore genre, i actually think those 2 are the best because if you watch Terrifier you get Female Nudity but there's also male nudity in films like it, a huge example is the movie ''i spit on your grave'' [amazing saga of movies btw], overall in hollywood you'll never get to see more than a man's ass because the actors don't want to show it and if the role requires it they hire doubles while female actresses have a fucking museum of them naked, the amount of female frontal nudity vs male frontal nudity is ridiculous.
PS: of course i LOVE actors like Barry Keoghan who go full nude and i praise them, this is not something all actors do sadly.

The murders of Dawn and "Cat Lady", as she is referred to in the credits, are clearly a call back to the inspiration for the Leatherface character in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", Wisconsin farmer, grave robber and murderer Ed Gein. He strung up and gutted one of his female victims like deer, and made face masks and at least one female body suit out of the graves he robbed. His two confirmed murder victims were women in the local town his mother had denounced to him while she was alive, the story goes. So if you're wondering where the slasher movie convention on how female bodies are treated when killed, you can blame my home state of Wisconsin. Ed specifically. This year is the 40th anniversary of his death in Madison, Wisconsin at the state mental institution. I was a teen living in Madison at the time, but have no memory of the news of his death.
