Tool are masters of space, timing and most importantly...TONE !!
Good observations on the band - this group of guys just make magic together.
The guitarist, Adam Jones, is probably one of the best in world when it comes to tone, and painting a picture with the frequencies and timbres. IMO, he's carried the torch forward after David Gilmour's heyday. He's extremely tasteful and produces so many different types of sound from his instrument. And Justin, the bassist, just otherwordly rhythm and groove AND melody. He plays the bass like its percussion, bass, and guitar all in one.
It's interesting that you say the drumming reminds you a lot of Pneuma. When I first heard Pneuma, which came out nearly 20 years after Schism, my first thought was that it reminded me of Schism. I've since discovered from a number of reaction videos of Pneuma that other people felt the same way so there must be something to this!
This song really sold me on Tool!! Just something about it!!
Yes, this was my first Tool love as well!
"Disposition/Reflection/Triad" aka "The Holy Trinity" is the ultimate journey experience. Need to listen to all three together. 🌀
Should I make a video where I react to all 3 songs in 1 video?????
Yes. The Tool Army will watch a longer reaction video no problem. 🌀
Do it!!!👽
@@bretkmcginnis Reflection is magical!
Right on! It's a journey and exp every single time! Nobody bf or after is better than TOOL insanely amazing! So glad you are checking them out
Any recommendations for more???
@@bretkmcginnis I don't know what all you have heard anema is awesome! The grudge. No quarter
Thank you for giving me the feeling of hearing the song for the first time. I remember I was crying.
Cheers bud.
Absolutely! Thank you for stopping by, I really appreciate it. Cheers
TOOL ARMY!
Tool Army is goated!
There is no other band like them…! Heard Tool early 2000’s and I’m still on this journey… “Ride the spiral till it ends “ Great reaction!…
Thank you! And I will definitely keep riding the spiral:D
Nice reaction 👍👌🤌react more to Tool pls
I am definitely doing more. Any recommendations?
@@bretkmcginnis everything 💯😎
@@bretkmcginnisbut lately been digging Stinkfist from Aenima - this album and Undertow are a bit heavier (recommend paying attention to lyrics)
Every Tool song is a journey!! A DIFFERENT one at that!!
Absolutely! And Justin is definitely Godzilla strumming a powerline-- I love that!xD
Yes
Justin on bass sounds like Godzilla strumming a power line!!
Hey man, great reaction! At first I wasn’t sure if you’d like it because it doesn’t come with the same energy as The Pot, but really happy to see you liked it!
Every song is different, and sometimes takes multiple listens to fully appreciate/understand what’s going on… and then you discover the lyrics and you fall in love all over again because the song is now brand new again!
Don’t stress about whether you’re a “proper” fan or not - Tool takes time and we all understand that. We’re just happy to see someone take the time and allow the music to unfold as a whole!
Go take your nap and re-listen to the song with lyrics later, you’ll know what I mean! ❤
Honestly, I was thinking about making a second video on Schism just to unpack the lyrics... because, tbh, I wasn't paying attention to the lyrics at all for the first listen-- I was listening to the music. So, I really want to go back and actually pay some respects to the lyrics. I DID go take that nap😂Thank you so much, Tom, for the engagement on my video. I really appreciate it!
This gets "radio play" which must be hilarious to the band ! 😂
Love this reaction!!🤘🏼
Thank you so much!!
I’ve listened to all their songs hundreds of times. I’ve had kind of a love hate relationship with their music. I started listening when was 13 then around the age of 17 when Ten Thousand Days came out I started to take Maynard’s lyrics personally and thought, “Fuck this Prick.” I came back around, though, they are no longer my favorite band but one of my favorites.
I call myself a Toolthusiast
You also have to know the members and what year they were/ have been in the band 🤔
Dang, lotta requirements these days, huh;) Thanks for watching!
"This bassist; Justin sane"
Chancellor
HA! I didn't even realize; that would be a dope nickname for him!
If you start from the beginning……”Tool Army” will follow 👁
Start with Opiate album and listen how Tool morph there way to Fear Inoculum
“Spiral Out Keep Going” 🌀🌀🌀🌀
I love the Tool Army... it might be the coolest fanbase. I will make a bunch of Tool reaction videos because I love Tool so much!:D
perfect
💙☺

I can't get enough of it. I've been playing it nonstop
Did you really think TOOL had a disappointing song? Poor dreamer! If you go back to the beginning of their career, the worst you will find is a good song... From there on you can choose between monumental, great, exceptional, masterpiece and, for the ones you really don't like, beautiful song. This obviously applies to those who are able to appreciate them, but if they are not for you they will continue to be noise, but I don't think this is your case.
LOVE this comment! You perfectly stated how their music is... you can't go wrong with any song because they're all good. Thank you for commenting and watching the video!
15:00 bro is flabbergasted 😹
I actually edited down the length of the video because I sat in disbelief for like 45 seconds XD
@@bretkmcginnis hahaha understandable. Schism is an experience
Bret is obviously the correct spelling
Indeed>:)
Srsly. Tool is exhausting. It's like an audio workout for my ears and brain. Even the "mellow" songs bring soaring heat. Stretch. Hydrate. Dive in.
