Absolutely love this vid! You kind of forget that people who are at your level still have to work. It's not like you just wake up and can just fly through stuff first try. It's still WORK! Nice shedding, very inspiring, to anyone reading this ... go practice, he is.
Cool approach to practicing and learning a line. I find often I might transcribe something, whether it's a line or a whole solo. Then I could take a break, come back and it's wayy worse like you mentioned. But I wake up the next day, pick up the horn and play it pretty well, sleep seems to somehow internalise things.
Hey Nathan, just wanna say i’m glad to see you consistently uploading now! i love watching your videos, they’re always super fun to watch and informative!
Years ago I played entire solo comprised of segments of the Berklee Saxophone Chord book!!! I played the etudes so many times, they became muscle memory!!
Would be nice to see how things may have changed after a good night of sleep to give the body some time to process it. Also: would have enjoyed the video just as much or maybe more if you said the things you wrote for the pausers :)
Super helpful video bro especially the message for the pausers. I have been practicing on and off and when I come back My confidence is so shot from not even being able to play scales efficiently coming back.(I've been learning since march) but your videos really help me and always bring me back. Love the work you do bro
heyo, I'm practicing guitar, but I find your videos entertaining and want to start practicing Sax in the future. I read your "pause"-thoughts; Interesting insight into the "pay-out" per rep, and benefits of approaches to practice, thanks for that!
Great work my man and thanks for showing us tech-challenged folks some new tools! This reminds me of transferring my favorite lines from vinyl to cassette tape then working them out on my Marantz tape player. If things got gnarly it had the 1/2 speed feature to slow ‘em down. Of course that took everything down an octave which made hearing those Pepper Adams, Nick Brignola and Ronnie Cuber bari licks kinda hard :^\
Hi, Nathan! What is your transcription process for things like this? I recently just got done transcribing a solo chorus and was wondering if you had any tips for approaching the writing portion of transcriptions more efficiently
How do you get rid of the buzz sound that sometimes happens when you play at a higher tone on the alto saxophone? I usually fix it by putting a new reed
This reminds me of when my band director would say “last rep” 💀
Just one more time
Bro stop giving me flashbacks
Last time!

Really inspiring Video! 🥳I am a classical sax player from Germany and I am really big fan of your work! Keep it up!

Don't mater who you are you got to respect this man. #AltoSax
Didn't think I'd get jump scared in a Saxlogic video.

Sorry you were having a tough time Glad to see you doing well
Awesome video, and I really appreciated the info dump text at the end as opposed to a 10min speech.
Where can I get that saxophone strap
That transcribe app sounds super useful, I'm gonna try it
is it free?

Very interesting. Pause screen contained very interesting info. Thanks
Pumping out the videos! I love it!
This is a great motivation video. I always thought that if I didn’t get it on my 10th try it just meant I sucked. It really does take work.
Always a good day when Saxologic drops some content 🎉
This dude is hilarious!!!!!!! Love it so much, all the videos. ❤
Somebody is putting in work 💪

Pause gang rise up ✊️

What an absolutely stunning piece and performance! Thank you for making me aware of it. Love the final baritone line to finish the piece.
I am not afraid of the jazz player who has played 100 standards, but of the jazz player who has played a standard 100 times.
Balanced like all things should be :)

hi
no more reps coach, im too tired
You gotta do a cover of the Patrick Bartley solo on After You’ve Gone
only 100? come on we all know it’s better to do so many you lose count till it’s perfect
