Colin Decker This isn't auto-tuned. This is a live recording of a musical on stage. Iain Glen can sing quite well and has been trained to do so. He has been in a few musicals and has other music on youtube that you can check out. Definitely no auto-tuning. He has a lovely voice.
Apologies. then, for doing him an injustice. I do, actually, respect Iain Glen a great deal. I nevertheless maintain that auto-tuning often hides a multitude of sins, and this makes me more cynical than is, perhaps, healthy or right. I hope that Mr Glen can forgive me. ...
Have now had a chance to listen to it again through decent speakers, and yep, pretty impressive! Once again, sorry for my rudeness (no doubt abetted by a raging toothache, but that's no excuse). It's just that we (my family) are all classically-trained singers, and therefore generally eschew microphones etc. Sincere apologies.
No worries. You are right - there is A LOT of auto-tuning. Musicals and Broadways tend to only have folks who really CAN sing - most of them classically-trained as well. The day Broadway starts auto-tuning . . . oh man . . .a sad day indeed. haha!
Saw it 5 times. three times during previews, four times with him in total and in the last week before closure. This show was so incredible. I once asked Mackintosh about why it constantly got changed because the previews were amazing and the last week before it closed it was half of the show it was. He said it took him three years of saying no to finally put it on. He was never really happy with it. I disagree! It's far better than Les Miz and Miss Saigon.
I don't understand Iain's career. Why was he not in bigger productions? He is way more capable than what I've seen others do in broadway, west end, and in hollywood.
I own, though cannot find, a CD of Martin Guerre. Not this original production, but instead the 1999 cast recording, which did not include Iain Glen. Not sure about Juliette Caton. The musical had been heavily revised, this song included. "Tell Me to Go" becomes "Don't." As here, Arnaud is about to leave, but the two are singing more specifically about their struggle not to touch or kiss before he leaves. I prefer the revised, extended lyrics of "Don't" by quite a bit over this version. "Don't" ends with Bertrand singing, "Come my love, just one kiss, one kiss, before we say goodbye." Hope Jorah gets a kiss before he dies. Seems unlikely, though.
HOLY COW HE REALLY CAN DO EVERYTHING.
Emily Nelson Yeah, digital auto-tuning really can work wonders!

Iain trained at Rada so he can act, sing and dance. The man can do anything, he is pure talent.

Beautiful song & reminds me of my special friend
I love the fact that Emilia Clarke sings too, and pretty darn well. That's why I want to see Daenerys and Jorah sing together ^ ^
Oh my god! Thank you thank you for uploading this!
If Jorah would sing this to Danaeris when he was with Tyrion to be exiled for the 2nd time she would forgive him.
She forbade me to speak, but not to sing!
