@@jwilywily I saw Billy Joel and Elton separately. I’m grateful I got to see Elton when he was still doing his crazy outfit, crazy performance, routine. At one point he was on his back, on top of the piano, playing behind his back. Later he was underneath it playing it. All over the place for the whole concert. His talent was unbelievable, not overshadowing his showmanship. Easily the best concert I’ve ever seen.
Billy Joel was really cool too. He had an open stage with 4 pianos, baby grand at the front from which he played Piano Man. But he rotated through all 4 so everyone in the arena got to see him directly, even “behind” the stage.

I've been obsessed with The Warning since I first heard their music last year. As others have said, they're very professional and a class act. I was super impressed watching one of the fancam videos of them on the Europe tour last month and Pau spoke to the audience asking if everyone was ok, if they needed anything, if anyone needed water and to let them know because audience safety was the most important thing. More bands should do that. You also might be interested in the acoustic performance of Money that they did on the Preston & Steve show on WMMR in Philly. Pau sang lead because Dany was sick and there was also an interview which I found interesting. Keep on rocking and you've been warned!!

"Less isn't more in this business
    Rapacity will be the illness"
    "Diamond noose at your throat"
"Moral code updates three times a year
Truth that's dipped in gold is just as sincere"
    Pau at her metaphorical best.
Imagine these lyrics in 60s, 70s when artists wrote meaningful songs and their fans appreciated them. Probably from mid 80s the focus shifted to performance & energy resulting in instrumentation becoming a priority in a song.
Intellectualism of classic rock died when the land of Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson & Bob Dylan decided that the show is more important than the substance.

Now they have learned that as a modern band, they need a lot of people working for them and most of them do it for *Money.* To be able to support them they need to get access to a lot of cash/money and their performances can solve this as long as they make it interesting for people to pay them money to see them perform.
Anyone who runs a business *KNOWS* it's ""All about the money". What company can survive if they don't make any profit?
How many people know of a doctor, dentist, artist, baker, café, car producer, restaurant or even a record label who does it for any other reason?
Even animals quickly learn that they can get rewards if they do what people tend to like. For humans as well as animals it has always been about who can put food on your plate or protect you from different things. It's more about survival than love.
The special thing about the music industry, as well as the movie industry, is copyrights that enable them to earn money even after the death of the artist/actors.

    • @MrsRealistic
      @MrsRealistic  4 месяца назад +1

Yes, of course... but if you look into artists who get locked into contracts, having to do a certain amount of songs, no creative freedom etc, before they are free to do their own music... it's not serving the artist's best interest. Michael Jackson, Prince and Mariah Carey have all spoken out about how they were cheated out of money. There's shady people in every business, including dentists, doctors etc. People are sometimes too eager to sign a contract without making sure they're protected.

    Excellent reaction Mrs. Realistic!
"Do you got money... or does money got you?"
Disney, Nickelodeon, Simon Cowell, and Glee, to name a few, have been after them since they were youngsters. Those contacts are horrible for artists. The Warning has always demanded complete creative control over their material. Through the years they have only been looking for a marketing partner. After 7 months of negotiations, they signed a #5 album deal with Lava/Republic Records/Universal Music Group. Tmk, nothing is done without their 100% approval.

That is my opinion too @@MrsRealistic, and one reason rock is declining in popularity. One artist has some success, and the record companies just copy and paste it; instead of letting artists come up with their own original material. Back in the '70's, artists had free reign over their songs.

Music teacher/critic/producer Rick Beato and The Warning's producer, David Bendeth, got together to judge many other producers' audio mixes of Money. If you're the least bit nerdy about audio production as I am, it's interesting. It's several hours worth of the same clip mixed many different ways by different people. At the end of it all, The Warning help make the final decision. ruclips.net/user/liveJrJWnruZbI8?

Pau has said that the song is about widespread corruption and greed, and the negative effect it has on society.

@@MrsRealistic They do a changeover in the middle while the song Breathe plays in the background. That was an extra song added to there Error album that Pau sings but that she said was too emotional for her to sing live. But….. in December, at their Pepsi Centre 10th anniversary concert, she did do it live. There are fan cam videos of it and it’s quite a performance, but we are all hoping the whole concert will be released just like this one. They have a string ensemble for Enter Sandman and Black Holes, which bookend Pau at the piano singing Breathe. This is the same concert that the live version of Hell You Call a Dream is from, so we know it was professionally recorded.

While I love this version I don't think it's a good one for a first reaction because they leave the main line in the chorus to the audience.

That was the intention when the song was written.
Any musician that’s worth their salt will write in parts of songs that the crowd can participate in.
The crowd engagement is essential to the atmosphere of any live performance and TW do it better than most.
TW have stated publicly that they feed off the energy of the crowd. What better way to get crowd interaction without a forced call and response?
It’s organic and a knowledgeable fanbase knows when it’s their turn. It’s a way for the artists to acknowledge how important the fans are to the overall success of the band by actually being part of the show.

@@mjc1389 Yes, and all that is great for the crowd, for you and for me that know the song (because we heard it complete before), but for a "first time reactor" it is better a version where they can hear the chorus. I am not saying there is any problem with this version I am saying that it is not ideal as an introduction to the song.
