The Italian government will allocate more than €500 million to make buildings safe in the Campi Flegrei area near Naples where seismic activity in recent days has caused panic among residents. The move was announced by Civil Protection Minister Nello Musumeci at a press conference on Wednesday following inter-ministerial talks led by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The meeting was held to discuss the ongoing seismic storm in Campi Flegrei, a highly seismic supervolcanic caldera zone, which was rocked by a 4.4 magnitude earthquake near Pozzuoli on Monday evening, the strongest in 40 years. The quake was part of 150 aftershocks in five hours, which caused many local residents to spend the night in their cars, and was followed by an earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale on Wednesday morning.

They need to be talking about getting people to safety. They need to get people away from the most dangerous zones. Cities out side of the danger areas should be looking ahead to take care of the influx of people that with end up coming their way.
