Also, the current standard of detail on N gauge stick is phenomenal. Especially when compared to the old "Poole Farish" stock of the '80s and early '90s. I'd go as far as to say N gauge currently offers better detail than a lot of 00 gauge offerings .
I was genuinely shocked how lovely the set was for such a small loco. I’ve spend £100s on items and had less detail in 00 gauge as you say. The best part was buying an item and it being better than expected which these days seems few and far between
@Steves00gauge you're lucky to have got into the hobby quite recently. It wasn't that long ago there wasn't a huge amount of stuff available ready to run and what there was wasn't great (especially compared to what is achievable and expected today). Shameless self plug now. If you're thinking of doing a micro style layout for any of your N gauge sets I've built a few over the years and most are on my channel. I'd say take a look at my mate Jason Pierce too (New model barmy). He's done some amazing builds in N gauge.
Looks good. Funnily enough, I transferred my OO Gauge Tri-ang Pannier Tank from my Series 3 layout to my System 6 layout this afternoon and she ran like a dream. Funny to see this video on the same day. Awesome. My N Gauge layout is 2.5 foot by 4 foot because I have 2 circuits. And the detail for the small footprint is anazing. Happy Modelling. Mon
100% getting this next payday. 00 gauge is too big for my bedroom plus the GWR Pannier is my favourite ever tank engine (Duck might have something to do with it...)
Being an N Gauge modeler since 2009 the prices have almost doubled especially in the second hand market, previously you could buy any item have a good look at it make your own review then keep or sell on like nothing happened all without making a dent in your bank balance, what bothers me these days second hand item costing near to brand new readily available of the same thing some times more
Looks like a great set. I keep eyeing up the N scale Thanet flyer but as much as I like it I can't justify changing from OO. 99% of my stuff is pre-grouping and there just isn't the same choice as OO.
It’s definitely worth it if you have some spare money about or fancy a treat but making the change when you have a collection of 00 gauge as you say may be hard to justify.
First time watching your channel. Though it was a good review. The set itself looks good and sounds like a bit of a bargain too. Nice to know its 3rd radius track nowadays. Previous sets would have been 1st radius, which often wasn't suitable for whatever came in the box with it. Will be looking for more videos from you in the future.
Where are you from 😊 I’m doing a give away for Xmas fur both n and 00 gauge and hoping to ship abroad. Haven’t decided the details yet or how big a giveaway but thought it would be nice to do
If I was starting again, yes totally N gauge. I’ve already got HO and OO stuff and it all runs on the same track. (Yes its horrible old Piko track lol but I’m sorting that). I wont be splashing out on another gauge.
I don’t blame you with the expense etc. I have 00 gauge abs starting to build up the n gauge. I have a Tt120 set but as much as I think it’s a good idea the price point is just not for me for now so I’ll just keep it brand new in box and store it away for now. My n scale layout will be small around 3ft by 4ft approx and the 00 gauge is first radius which was always how I wanted to keep it. I very much enjoy 00 gauge so can’t see myself with out it but these n gauge items are more tempting for the price
I must say, bachmanns trainsets look superb. I bought the midland marvel and thames clyde express years ago and the locomotives match the consist that they come with so well! However, the packaging was garbage, as I snapped a part of the loco off due to high tight it was😢 and the clips that connect the track are rubbish, as one didnt even work... I already had a controller of my own but imagine if it was someone's first set.. they would have to send it back for an issue that can 100% be avoided.
Train sets are a big investment of £ especially now more than ever so if I can save someone money I’m happy to do so. I’ve recently bought a set and I’ve had to narrate it a few times as it’s just rubbish for its cost but I don’t want to sound like I’m moaning for 10 minutes as even when I buy bad products I want to stay upbeat even if I’m taking the p*** out of it

Gorgeous, but really looking forward to seeing a similar set in TT 120.
Hey Robert I agree, I think it’s needed desperately for the TT120 range especially to get the entry point down to a more manageable £ for new comers
100% getting this next payday. 00 gauge is too big for my bedroom plus the GWR Pannier is my favourite ever tank engine (Duck might have something to do with it...)
I hope n gauge duck gets released in the future for you. Enjoy the set when you get it, it’s a gem
The locomotive is stunning great detail lovely paint work well worth the money I love n gauge

I get lots of messages saying “buy second hand “ and as you say the market isn’t able to provide a strong enough saving a lot of the time.
Oh thats gorgeous love it would have enjoyed seeing it at dead slow even understanding its just out of the box

dear santa... i would like an n gauge pannier tank... nice review
Thanks 🙏 I’m still very very happy with it. I’m now deciding which set to buy next from the range to fuel my odd train set addiction
I am thinking about buying this set my grandad was a GWR Driver ,he retired 1958 so he loathed diesels .
Thank for the insight.
It’s still running great and I still may get another. A gem amongst train sets
Mine was delivered yesterday ,well pleased with it .
First train set in 50 + years 😂.

Welcome along James 🥳. Enjoy your stay. I’m glad you joined the channel on a good review as the next one is a real stinker of a purchase sadly
That's the way it is sadly mate. Over time you'll learn how to spot items that aren't worth getting and the ones you don't want to miss out on.
❤ looks good
I've just brought that myself
I’m very happy with it. I don’t feel as bad now because boy o boy did I buy a real crap product yesterday 🤣 more soon on that soon 🤮
I really want some British N gauge stuff but Japanese and Chinese N are far better value so I tend to go with those.

China, and that's very kind of you but I'm sure someone else needs the models more than me. :)
@@azuma892 what steam locos are available in Chinese N?
@@sakuradensha None so far, but they do have plans to make some. 🤣

@@Steves00gauge To be honest hornby train sets right now are way to expensive for what you get. Bachmann at least sells you premium locos with stock
Why are reviewers so against posting links.
I think i order that as well is that £178 one
Yes the suburban sulzer, I’m very tempted but I have a few other sets I’ve bought so may have to sell them as it’s getting a bit out of hand here 😂
Don't care enjoying your videos
is the track in this set made by bachmann or peco?
Bachmann
Damn Bachmann makes better quality stuff for their UK audience then they do for their American audience.
Is it that bad over there, I’ll have to order some and have a look
@@Steves00gauge it’s gotten better in the past few years but before that, it was terrible quality
