Hilarious multiplayer battle idea: Every player is given the basic jumping leg mechanism and builds their tank aroud it. I want to see like four of these things just jumping around and shooting at each other, the level of silliness would be insane.
Same. Between learning about all of the ridiculous designs throughout history as well as watching Scrapman hysterically attempt to recreate them with the severe limitations of Trailmakers. Great content for sure! Keep it up Scrapman!
You should add balloons in there to counteract its weight to make landing smoothly easier. You should probably also ad springs on the body itself too since that's what takes the brunt of the landing since the leg escapes into the body instantly.
okay after seeing this and looking back at scrap's previous videos on odd and obscure battle vehicles I had an idea for a new multiplayer challenge the challenge is that each player has to base their creation on an old, obscure, and/or impractical in real life war machine that has or could have existed at some point in history. I got this idea because I think it would be funny and interesting to see the rest of the gang deal with building and driving/piloting these garbage vehicles themselves alternatively they could choose to try to modify one of scrap's preexisting creations from this series to see if they can do better
I think making the tank a smaller diameter to reduce complexity and weight would help. Also adding suspension to the part of the body that hits the ground after the leg contracts.
The whole second half of the video I was yelling "Add suspension to the body bottom!" lol (Suspension does take up a lot of complexity though, and it might not have been possible.)
11:01 Yea, i wish TM had more options... For example, Robocraft2(Still work in progress tho) has ability to drag EVERY building block in any direction, you can do crazy stuff with it and its not that hard to learn. Doing this half dome shape would be so easy... I would KILL for this system in Trailmakers.
it looks like you have enough space inside to add some balloons, if you can free up the complexity. you can set them to inflate with the jumping sequence to reduce the tank's weight, and prevent it from destroying itself!
Hello scrapman! I had a multiplayer idea that is kinda related to this concept. You get a base where its just the jumping mechanism and the goal it to build a tank kind of thing with the guns getting progressively bigger (smart cannon, machine gun and mini gun) and the goal is to disable the other tanks.
You should do either a plane battle on the space bound planets in their atmosphere or try doing a Walker mech battle with the lads (bipedal, quadrupedal etc.)
"I did not think the issue was going to be the foot" I know this is the game but looking at the real life design and I was like, "That foot is gonna break" LOL.
I built a turnip head for a weekly challenge a few months ago that worked like this, it used angle sensors and helicopter engines to stabilize and had a slide formats lean and a ton of suspension It balanced well but there was a 1/5 chance every hop that its pole that it hopped with would explode
Who else was thinking mini-thrusters or hover-pads to help cushion the landing as to not damage the legs? Put it inside the hollow part to fake it and have it not be noticed. We could even automated the mini thrusters using bottom facing distance censors. Turn off when you a close to the floor. So they only turn on near the height of the jump.
Clever solution with the thrusters. This is the one thing I wish was more like scrap mechanic. I feel like suspension in that game can actually cushion serious blows like this.
@@embergamedevI have never heard a claim more wrong in my life xD You can't gage "impact force" because vehicles are non-destructive in regards to impact. Only attack and explosion damage has any effect on creations (without mods) in the current build of the game. The only thing suspension does in SM is keep things leveled/less bouncy.
The the one fatal flaw is the the "Tank" would be used on flat level ground. The achilles heel would be hilly land or blast holes unless... It has some sort of spring/piston/reverse magnets, weld glitches, dampener on the foot to accommodate the angle difference and adapt to the different foot angle logic to the angle of the leg(s) to stay vertical?
Hey scrapman, I got a small idea. What if you make the heaviest block possible with weight blocks, similar to the dynamite cube you made, and then try to make a build that can lift it
Can you do a community series on titan,Saturn’s largest moon? I suggest you do it as a sequel to the mars series in search of where the Martians who built bases on mars. You can do more research on its somewhat earth like conditions. The reason for it being on Titan is because titan has a subsurface water ocean,a active methane cycle and a large collection of lakes, seas and rivers of hydrocarbons such as methane. Day four of saying this.
Day 1 of asking scrap man to do a space station battle 2v2, one player on a team will be in a fighter ship that can dock on the other player’s station.
You should make the McDonnel XF 85. It was made to be a plane dropped from a bomber but fought by a trapeze. It was unsafe and had no landing gear. It was developed during the Cold War.
I've got idea scrapman: (my first btw) What happens if half of very long vechicle is in 1g while second in 0g. Imagine a stick that goes half way trough "forcefield" in Galina station
20:18 I think it needs to have a smoother landing. Currently it comes down to hard which introduces stress into the structure, compromising it until one landing the thing just falls apart.
multiplayer idea: walking tank battle on one of the planets in the space DLC, only 1 weapon and it must be on a 360 degree turning turret. multiplayer idea: flying vehicle battle, but you can only use space DLC parts, no air control parts, only non space parts allowed is the base building blocks.
QUICK MATHS TIME! F=MA F=971kg*9.81 (we're just gunna assume the 'pilot' is weightless) F=9525.51N OR 2141.42lbf So 9525.51 newtons of force is applied to the ground everytime we land.. with a little more maths assuming the stopping time (when the foot hits the ground-when the body comes to a stop) to be about 1 second and deceleration being 1s it would feel to you (the 'pilot') like having a 971kg weight or literally the entire craft dropped on you everytime! YAY SCIENCE!!!
bottom ring around foot might have benefitted from being the part on suspension suspension on foot doesn't really do anything, since sensors retract foot before absorbing much
For a while there I thought that was a holding, balanced teapot. Also, as well, I use the gyros for a while but not the new gyros, I really don't know why?
Hilarious multiplayer battle idea: Every player is given the basic jumping leg mechanism and builds their tank aroud it. I want to see like four of these things just jumping around and shooting at each other, the level of silliness would be insane.
i'm glad scrapman is doing these again, it's pretty funny to see how these blueprints even exist
this is one of my favorite series! kinda hope revisits some of the planes since the airborne update dropped

Friction pads..

Next update needs to be a TON of curved and angled pieces.
we really need a 1x1 angele piece
And reworked collision boxes in build mode. some blocks take up way too much space.
A "Builder's Update" in General would be awesome.
@@gabrielsxowe need 1x8 angles way more 😀

I feel like maybe an internal gimbal jet or something would have helped with making the landing more consistent.
The gimble thrusters could help with cushioning the landing a bit more
This would be awesome as an mm challenge, no thrusters or engines, just hopping
Frog race? FROG RACE!
And there's plenty of hopping critters to choose from... Frogs/Toads, Rabbits, Deer, Kangaroos...
Yesssss, I've missed these videos! Had no idea I'd be wanting a leaping tank until now though

the bending in half VTOL that you looked at several yers ago would fly like a dream with the gyros

I wonder if shield on the bottom of the foot would help keep it from breaking. All in all, awesome build!
no, shields dont protect you from physical things. ONLY projektiles
@@alexanderwinter5988technically it will protect the foot, but only once

Tuned gimbals to slightly slow the tank down would likely fix the breaking.
Multiplayer suggestion: Do bombers vs defenders but the bombers have dynamite in them and the defenders use emp to explode them

This is a really good idea but I think they should insted of bomb bays have the dynamite be the bombs
hey scrapman, it would be cool to see some of the older "your best builds" as the wheel bug is fixed now and they might work better
Finally, a return to strange historical builds
Scrapman: makes a POGO tank
Also scrapman: why is it so inconsistent???
I can't wait for the inevitable hopping creation battle
YES!
My first thought after learning of this thing a couple months ago was, "I hope Scrapman tries to build this."
I'm so happy 😁
Now i want to see a tank battle with this
You can lower session gravity in session options, you should try the tank doing that
Finally u make recreation content again this is very amazing thank you
It’s really cool… in theory. But in practice it seems like I would see it being violently uncomfortable. And easy to destroy
"your concussion has been found to be unrelated to your time in service"
Yup, sounds like the VA lol
I’m so happy he made this!
Bro it wouldve been absolutely terrifying seeing that thing charge at you while jumping and shooting 😳😂
Terrifying, and hilarious.
"I did not think the issue was going to be the foot"
I know this is the game but looking at the real life design and I was like, "That foot is gonna break" LOL.
Loved this video, the design is really satisfying. Would love to see more like this!
You could try to use some gimbal jets to try to soften the landing
What if you used balloons in the tank to provide lift decreasing the force on the foot?
I built a turnip head for a weekly challenge a few months ago that worked like this, it used angle sensors and helicopter engines to stabilize and had a slide formats lean and a ton of suspension

Come on 1M subscribers! See you there.
They 100% need to add blocks that add up to other blocks. I hate not being able to build things how I’d like to because blocks don’t line up

I think this would be a cool battle evolution build, would love to see you and the others fight in these.
maybe a couple of cheeky gimbal jets connected to the distance sensors to lessen the weight when it lands
Flip the angle pieces upside down to get the opposite angle. Which is what you where looking for
You should try to do a wall crawler battle on the underside of one of the spacebound planets.
You should've had the suspention BETWEEN the FOOT and the HINGE instead of having it be in between the hinge and the pistons.

If it's consistently inconsistent is it really inconsistent
The most surprising thing about this video was not seeing him recreate an impossible vehicle, but it was hearing my name at the start of the vid
Something as crazy as this belongs in Command and Conquer Red Alert, crazy it almost existed IRL
