  • AWD TEST: Honda Pilot 2016 in snow and ice
    We tested the new AWD of the Honda Pilot 2016! Quite impressive since it was icy all over the place! The truck apply traction to the wheel that grip in a fraction of time. But it work better in SAND mode since the snow mode remove a lot of acceleration power to go up icy hill.

    We bought a 19 exl awd and it finally snowed. I took it out and was very happy with its performance!! I have a 02 f150 4wd that does not preform as good in the snow. The pilot is a beast on the snow! It’s a great in the snow and a family hauler! Would definitely recommend. I can’t wait for my snow tires! Only draw back is you need to turn off the auto collision sensor it nearly wrecked me. When it snowed the lines where covered and it braked me when there was no danger luckily I didn’t lose control. So now I disable it when I drive.

    I own a 2019 Pilot LX AWD and I can attest that the AWD system is awesome. I have tested it on sand and dirt roads and the car couldn't be stopped. I've climbed steep dirt hills where I could only see the sky and it crawled up without breaking a sweat.
    I also own a Subaru and I would take the Pilot AWD system over Subaru AWD with CVT any day. With the right AT tires the Pilot can go just about anywhere you want with the exception of rock crawling because the ground clearance is not that great.
    TIP: just make sure to drain and fill the transmission fluid every 30k miles. The Pilot transmission doesn't hold much fluid and it tends to break down the fluid quickly. You'll know when it's time to change the fluid because the RPMs will go up and down even when maintaining the same speed on a flat road.

    AWD is great, but a vehicle with WINTER TIRES is the smart thing for anyone to do. If you live in an area that has snow in the winter and you DON'T get winter tires, then you will soon learn that having winter tires will prevent you from getting into an accident in the snow. I drive a front wheel drive car with winter tires, and I see so many guys (adult men) with their fancy SUV's / Pickup trucks that skidded into the ditch, because they did not think they needed winter tires. Funny.

      That RAV4 generation sucks in the snow. The AWD system is slow to transfer power to the rear when needed. Plows in the corner for a second before the rear starts to help the front wheels. The 1999 RAV4 did so much better with the older 4wd system.

    Not sure what this test was for. If you want to go off-road into deeper snow, then get top of the line snow tires. Checkout Nokian. You'll be able to repeat your test with half the effort.

      The test is to see how the AWD react to slippery situation and not get stuck or damage this suv.

      Never compare a plymouth with a Honda Vehicle. Honda is just too above the plymouth.

    Turn the snow mode on

    • @CarQuestion
      @CarQuestion  8 лет назад +1

      +Ryan Rock the Honda Pilot is WAY MORE reactive when in sand or mud mode! Snow mode maximize traction but also kill reaction to prevent slipping.

      Do you tire 245/50 R20
      If you set the wheels R18 tires will have a different size.
      For example: Factory equipment 245/65 R17
      Possible replacement 245/60 R18
      A question for you: what are your recommendations for changing tires? And are you satisfied with the tires, which is mounted on your car?

    The guy driving it doesn't know much about the Pilot. It has a mode just for snow. If he had put that on, then the wheels wouldn't spin and the car wouldn't slide in all directions.

    • @CarQuestion
      @CarQuestion  7 лет назад +5

      the guy driving know everything about the Pilot! But you need to consider the ice under the snow.... momentum is needed! With snow mode on, the car was way to restrictive to do this climb! :)

      CarQuestion Your test has no narrator, no comparison, no actual real world test . I'm not saying you are an idiot, but you played one in this video. Take a look at the more popular car reviews and compare your content with theirs and you will see your content's poor quality.

    Switching to electric vehicles is a big mistake, internal combustion engine vehicles such as the honda pilot are powerful in the snow, yes your spending alot on gas but thats how the power comes. Electric vehicles cant be handled
