I did internship there back in 2012.. I was selected in railways as a Mechanical Engineer but didn't join. Good to see that they are maintaining all lcocs without foreign support. Back in 2012 shop was not in good condition and power breakouts were very normal. Still I don't see fire suppression systems and other safet equipment/procedures. Keep up the good work. Brief us on ML-1 project too. :)

You put great efforts to show us how pakistan Railway progressing it's really wonderful to see the video is very informative . But one thing I noticed and observed there is totally absence of the safety aspect such as PPE .nobody wearing safety gloves ,safety jackets and I'm sure also no one wearing safety shoes . I lived in abroad and here safety us always on priority number one before any work . Kindly enlighten those respected technicians and mechanics to adhere the safety measures as well for their own safety at work. Tnx a lot
Thanks for watching and liking, You're absolutely right regarding safety issues, Actually Pakistan Railways always been neglected by the previous governments over roadways,motorways and road Transportation, that's we have almsot 15 world standard motorways of almost 4000km of lengths but no one put their efforts to build the railroad in Pakistan, due to lack of Railways budget lot of things are suffering and the safety precautions and uniformity are at top, PR is hardly managing its railroad operations in small budget rather all the earnings of PR would have spent in the salaries of 77000 employees and almsot 45000 pensioners of PR, Each years total earnings would be around 5.5 Billion Rs (33 Million $US) and total expenses would be around 6.5 Billion Rupees (40 Million $US), But there is a good news coming up, we are laying new Railway track at our Mainline 1 (1872km) and targeted speed would be 160kmh for passenger trains and 120kmh for freight, this track would be secured by fences at both sides and there will not be any level crossings rather overhead bridges or underpasses for roadways, New interlocking signaling and modernizing of main Stations are also part of this project, total worth of this ML1 project is 9.2 Billion $US , I hope saftey standards would improve. Our government should start investing in more computerized cnc machines for the shop and make it more automated so tolerances for parts will be within limits. Please also train people to learn new techniques.
A good video. I noticed that almost all of the mechanics are old age nearing retirement and working on equipment installed as ald as 1920s. We need to modernise the process to bring efficiencies. Pakistan has a lot of room to run more trains on the existing MLs but that requires modernisation and overhauling of the whole system.

What I know is: 7000 series are Electric Locomotives that are ineffective for many years. The Electric connection/wires were directly used to power these locomotives, specifically from lahore to khanewal or multan the electric connection/wires were available and these locomotives used to work/run between them. It was very economical way to run trains.

It is condemned, it is here was disassembly and to be sold as scrap.
