A very similar model the retekess v115 can switch am between 9 and 10khz easily through the software. just go to the am function and hold the menu button until the menu pops up on the screen and scroll to am stepping setting then press the play pause button witch brings you to the screen to choose 9 or 10 khz make your selection then press the play pause button witch will switch it. If you want a similar radio that can switch between 9 and 10khz then that would be the one to get
Unless there's some magic keys you can hold down while turning it on that will get you into some special setup mode, then you're probably right. Merry Christmas.
Interesting. If you look for the datasheet of the DSP chip on this radio, you'll find that there are two ways this can be programmed: by the radio's MCU that controls the buttons and the display or by a resistor with a precise value connected to one of the DSP's pins. Usually the second way is for radios with an analog (needle) display and a slider band selector which itself just switches a band of resistors. The first way is for this kind of radio. In this case there's a simple command/response protocol à la I2C between the MCU and the DSP chip over two pins. It seems that some DSP chips support both, but at the same time? I doubt this. So it's likely that the MCU on this radio has a specific firmware for US and other markets.
What amazes me about this type of radio is the lack of front end parts, all in the digital processing chip, that's mad lol. The down side is when the monster chip dies, it will cost more than the radio is worth. Ill stay in the past with ordinary super hetrodyne stages, old tech for an old git 😀
I remember browsing through the Maplin catalogue and drooling over getting that chip that was an entire FM radio on a chip. I didnt have enough pocket money to buy all the parts as a kept buying other bits.
The U.S. pronunciation of solder comes from the French word "souder". The British added an L to it to make it sound more Latin, while Americans stuck closer to the original French pronunciation even as they used the British spelling. Pronouncing roof as "ruff" is an Upper Midwest accent and is by no means how all Americans say it. And you're almost 200 years too late to complain about Noah Webster's spelling reforms!
The "L" was silent everywhere up until the middle part of the last century when people not familiar with the word would see it in print and pronounce it phonetically. For whatever reason it quickly became the dominate pronunciation throughout the UK and most of the Commonwealth.
Also being british I'd add that "sod" is a word used in the UK to refer to "an unpleasant or obnoxious person". Saying solder as "sodder" sounds very rude to my ears :D I chuckle a bit when I hear in on youtube.
@@dlarge6502 Sodomy is pretty much relegated to the legal vernacular in the US so using sod vulgar term is nonexistent. If you were to use the word sod in America people would think you were talking about turf.

@@grantbanstead1971 Its not, but if you watched the video you would have seen me try the buttons. From standby, full power off. Totally different radio. I use my V115 on a regular basis. I also reviewed this one. It is AM/FM/SW with microSD slot and plays audio files and will also record mp3 files. To change the step on that one put radio in AM mode and press menu key select 9khz or 10khz. The V115 also has an internal rechargeable battery and sounds fantastic. I use it to listen to MP3 files all the time and it has been a very solid performer. It sells for about 36 bucks on Amazon

I have the same with a rechargeable battery. The radio has a great reception.
I have the v115 and have just tried it it can be switched, I'm in the UK so it's default 9khz.

Interesting. Very surprising that there's not a magic keystroke to switch between 9 & 10kHz spacing.

Did you check the crystal frequency?... Perhaps the spacing depends on which crystal is factory-installed.
No.
12voltvids, did you know how made a booster from sangean radio DT110 DBB, thank you so much and God bless you
Not sure but might try to hold MW button about a second or two when on MW mode.
I tried that. No combination of buttons does anything
Very good
which resistor is responsible for display contrast?
I have no idea.
can it be plugged into a pc?
Please remove display and show us PCB:)
Sorry just read the comments where you said its a audio ic🙊
I think that is what it is. Could be wrong as I didn't look anything up. Just in vacinity where speaker connects.
Look next to the PLL
Is IC1 an EEPROM?
I think that is the power amp for speaker
