This is an unfair narrative. The players who played the most minutes - Brunson, Divencenzo, Hart, & Hartenstein, we’re not the players who were most injured.
Julius Randle and Mitch missed majority of the season due to freak injuries. Anunoby was in and out of the lineup almost since his arrival to NY. And Bogdanovic, the 8th man in the rotation, suffered an unfortunate ankle injury in which a player landed on his foot.
The media is trying to point the finger without actually knowing this team very well.

Knicks Fan here, I think Thibs did the best he could do given the injuries. I will say that he should've given more time to Alec Burks and Jericho Sims towards the end of the season to extend the rotation. Burks became a real weapon in this series.
Their Rotation when healthy: Brunson, DDV, OG, Randle, IHart, Mitch, Hart, Deuce, Bogan, Precious & Burks. That's 11 guys. They lost 4 of them plus Hart, Brunson and IHart playing hurt. This WAS a deep team, they all just got hurt at the worst times. Can't blame this all on Thibs for this. Yes he should've played Burks more and that Sixers series DRAINED them.
I'd love for them to make some minor tweaks to the bench and run it back with a healthy OG and Randle. Unless the Stars are: Booker or Giannis i don't really want to sell the farm for one player. I'd love for them to swing something for a Mikal Bridges (Durable, plays great D and shoots the 3 plus the ability to score 20 points).

Mikal Bridges on the Knicks roster I think would fit in so well. Like you say, plays D and can score. A bit difficult to pull away from the Nets. The roster as it is if healthy would be fine to run it back with Thibs as coach. I think they could get some reinforcements through the draft. Not sure what the draft class looks like but I'd go for someone that's played 4 years of college ball and is NBA ready.

Mikal would make us worse and wouldn’t make us contenders. We would get killed in the paint by teams like Milwaukee, Philly and the teams out west. Prior to Randle's injury in late January (when the team was already dealing with Robinson's injury and traded 2 players for 1 in the OG trade) had no player in the top 20 in MPG, the team's top minutes players were Brunson at 35 mpg and Randle at 34 mpg, no other player was playing more than 32 mpg. 35/34 MPG is right where star players play, Tatum was 35 mpg and Brown 33 mpg respectively this past season for reference and that was probably driven lower due to the amount of blowouts they had.
It wasn't until while dealing with Robinson's injury and then Randle and OG getting hurt in late January while also having other players miss 1-2 weeks like DiVinchenzo and Brunson that they had to lean on players to play heavy minutes. And even then Thibs dug into his bench playing Precious and Burks more when needed. The Knicks got hit hard by the injury bug from late January on and most of the injuries were "freak" occurrences.

    • @Michael_Page
      @Michael_Page 23 дня назад

Thibs always had 10 playable guys in the regular season. He didn't have to play Hartenstein all star minutes after the injuries. He's a backup center. Thibs played him like 38 minutes per game until he broke down. He could have played Precious more. He didn't have to play Josh Hart 40 minutes or Donte 38 minutes because Deuce and Bojan were available.
Other coaches are able to get minutes out of "unplayable" players in the regular season. Especially plug and play players like Alec and Bojan. Jericho could have gotten some more burn. This team has talent. You guys keep acting like the squad is a bunch of bums that have to play it's best 5 players 40+ minutes just to compete.
Thibs playoff minutes were just insane. He literally just played JB, Hart, and OG every single minute until they broke down. Nobody does that. Nobody. Not even Thibs. People keep talking about what Thibs did in the past but he never played anybody for 12 straight quarters before. There is a reason more successful coaches don't play their guys 48 minutes.

They even said that JB and JHart weren't in the top 10 in Mins per game. Jay is also shining a light on how the current NBA "star" is now. A "star" caliber player won't play for Thibs because he plays them "too much," makes them work hard, and holds them accountable? So what Jay is eluding to in words he didn't say, but practically said, the NBA "star" caliber player now is lazy and wants to do whatever they want and not worry that their coach is hard on them and making them accountable. The Knicks have Brunson at 28 points per game, Randle at 24 points per game, Divincenzo at 15 points per game, and OG at 15 points per game. And on top of that, they'll know inside they truly gave it all they got and made the most of their time and talent. It's a career most players would gladly have.
Even Deng ended up with a $72 mil Lakers contract AFTER his Bulls run as the 4TH OPTION, Noah got a $73 mil Knicks contract AFTER everything. I would not be surprised if in a few years that Hart leaves the Knicks in his 30s and gets a 4 yr 90 or 100 mil deal.

Brunson is a great scorer but outside of that & drawing charges what else does he really do well? Superstars find multiple ways to impact the game & Brunson is nothing close to that. The Knicks need a guy like Ant to build around. This Front Office & Thibs chose to build the roster around toughness & grit rather than skill & talent.

Where is the player development? Where is the smart drafting? When this experiment flames out (and it will) it will be said that the last real GM’s we had were Donnie and Glenn. The last player we developed was KP and everything before that has been someone past their prime is a throwaway. It’s insulting that ESPN is purposely acting like this roster isn’t old and could actually beat Steph,Jamal, Zach,Curry throw in a random 4 on any night! Never mind that 94 or 99 team ! Ridiculous!

Knicks had a wonderful season that should be the only narrative. To do what they did with all the injuries, this season has been a tremendous success. Please remember where knicks have been for the last couple decades.Do you have to be tough to play for Thibs?Yes,but the man gets results.

Thibs is also the reason they won 50 games. A different coach that sits guys more or even for a few games wins 43 games and knicks are a play in team

Coach Thibs and Coach Rivers need a comeback together.

The 76ers should be brought up on charges for the injuries they caused against the knicks

There are fifteen players on a team. How do you not have a ten man rotation from the start of the season ? How do you have shake Milton chilling on the bench, and how are those two second round picks for Obi looking right about now??

I LOVE MY Knicks but I do believe OG or Hart injuries could have been avoided if he played Burks more from the start of playoffs and def after Bogan went down. But everyone else had to play and Precious was better as he played but I understand why Thibs was hesitant to play him; He was irratic at times early in playoffs.

Cannot blame Thibs for the injuries this year. Had no players left to play. Jules and JB was a freak injury. Mitch was taken out by philly. Bogy too. OG is injury prone himself
