Replace that Phillips screw with a hex head bolt.

Just leave wheel of tell you get shaft in place and center tires, then install steering wheel 😊
Grease it if you like but pressure wash often and replace grease

Ok, guys, n gals, this fix is great. But Po Boys have po ways. When investigating the problem, I saw that the end of the worm gear was rounded off and not square as the new on in the video showed. That told me that the contact with the steering gear had been at the bottom for its lifetime. Along with the bearing flange being worn out, allowing for horizontal movement, it also allowed vertical movement of the entire shaft, which made the contact point at the bottom where the worm gear was worn and slipping.
    My fix was simple...
I raised the front of the mower with a floor jack. I then disconnected the front deck hanger bar. This allowed for more than enough room to get to the screw. Once removed, I searched my spare parts cabinet and found a bolt with the same length and treads and a flat washer with the same size screw hole and an outside diameter a little larger than the hole the Flange bearing sits in.
Put the concave washer on the new bolt, then the flat. Inserted into the shaft and walla, the problem was fixed.
    Cost: about 20 minutes.
Bolt and washer, free for me.
I expect my fix will probably outlast the mower itself.

So how did you fix flange bearing. Or did you just tighten the sh××t out of it.

Do you have any suggestions for my issue,, the part where the bushing fits into has rusted a bit and now the bushing will not snug up,, I dont understand why it was made the way it was to me the bushing should have been secured to the frame, or the bushing nut part should be twice as thick so it does not move so easy,, this is what is causing the gears to wear
