You legit solved almost 2 hours of me being confused me as I'm going into Tier 7 and didn't know how to use the radar or proper lock-on functions from the US side, thank you man!
2:17 just fyi the screen on the right is not a radar screen, its the HSD screen which is a situational awareness screen, it just displays the cone of the radar as additional SA. The screen on the left however is the radar screen, FCR stands for Fire Control Radar.
I just do left shift+[a number], whichever order it’s in on the control list, top to bottom, least to greatest, then for moving the radar, I just use the same controls as moving the aircraft (WASD), and + left shift, and tilt is left shift + [Q for up, E for down]
This turns the F16 from being a pretty decent fighter with the 9Ms to an absolute monster in general. Tried this on Sim and Jesus Christ it felt like DCS.
Almost all of my radar controls are on my numpad, including weapon selector. My radar mode, selected weapon, and radar FOV are on that num lock area, along that top row. My lock is enter and range is +. My other stuffs is on the various numbers.
I do weapon selector as R because I need to be able to do said things while I'm maneuvering. I think I'm missing one binding that I've added since this video but I will have another video this week going over my air controls so stay tuned!

Pro tip. Use your RMB as a modifier and then WASD to control your vertical and horizontal slewing. Also, make sure you don't toggle relative control on the slewing axis or it becomes really hard to control.

I went from only having radar on the f104 and f5e to having f16 radar , let’s just say I didn’t know iff was a thing and I religiously play sim, very used to chasing ppl down , so the switch to being able to see someone 37km/74km/148km away boggles my mind, I liked being ignorant and not knowing what it was like to get sniped by radar missiles
QUESTION: Did they reduce the the range for the AIM-7M? It used to lock on at 19km, but now only locks at about 9km. The radar still says 19km when trying to lock-on which is why I'm confused. It was never like that before the most recent update. Someone on FB (being unpleasant about me not knowing) said that I have to switch the mode, but I can't get the F-16a-ADF to change from ACM mode. Any actual help is appreciated. Great video!
There should be a binding to change radar modes and another to change scope/scale for distance I'd have to verify which control it is but I'm on my phone. Plus you've always been able to launch aim7s from 40-45km max. I got a 40km kill the other day. Typically I launch at 25km but aim 7s are best served under 10km.

nice video. thanks for the intel. i’m almost to the point of unlocking F16, and with there being soo many keybinds, especially the more modern the tech, everything is cluttered. i’m gonna have to set different keybind settings for different eras of planes 🤣 shit it’s so confusing at first lol
Yeah thats why I included doing everything on the numpad and a few essentials near wasd. Everyone at this point has their own key bindings. Player for 9 years here so a guarantee your binding are not mine. Thanks for the comment!
So I'm kind of new to top tier but not really. I like your binding, but what I found easier for me is instead of having a coursor on the radar I have 0 binded on num to switch between targets. It's easier for me to get through Cheff of enemies in tws
I mean its the same you just have to bind to your controller what I'm telling you to bind in this video. I don't do any controller stuff so my input wouldn't be valuable.
@@TheSystematicPsycho that’s the problem with the controller even if I click down right control stick, and then down on control pad and then assess buttons all the way around it opens up my landing gear the airbrake and also when I set radar to move up and down left and right to lock onto individual targets it always brings up the message bar and then works. It’s a double edge. It sucks.
Dude, I would love to play a match with you. I tried setting my buttons up the best I could by watching your video although there is some different search radar’s that I don’t understand. I’m sure I can figure it out if you were ever down to play a match together I’m sure you can walk me through a couple of the radar’s and what they mean to help me enjoy this game again I’ve been playing for 10 years and it seems like I’ve lost interest when top-tier jets came along because I don’t have the know how when it comes to hitting people with missiles.
@@TheSystematicPsycho that would be great because I am on PS4. It is much more difficult I guess without the proper key bindings to make missiles do what they need to do. Especially ones that are radar lock on missiles they keep exploding before they hit the target.

i need some help i use src pd and i have lock radar/irst set to mmb and anytime i set radar to max of 92miles for f16c it never locks on to anything even if they are in visual range and i try to lock on that way only way that lets me ever lock on with radar is by pressing alt+f which is bind to radar/irst beyond/within visual range
