This is a little more nebulous, but it really feels like they deliberately wrote this episode the way they would have if Hank was actually going to die at the end of it. The way he comes to terms with what he's been going through the last two seasons, owns up to his mistakes, accepts himself, reconnects with Marie . . . they even get a nice goodbye phone call. It feels like they're wrapping up his story, which makes it feel like he's in real danger in that final shootout.

9:50 Hank shot Marco several times at the vest and it barely made an impact, but in BCS Lalo shoots Gus at his vest ONCE and he struggles to walk and breathe, smh
Depends on the vest, depends on the gun, and depends on the placement. It's feasible that Marco's adrenaline kept him up for longer than he should have been, especially if he had taken shots in a vest before.
Different quality vest and different quality shooter. Gus was very nervous and scared. He clearly has not had to engage in 1 on 1 fights like this before (or if he has, he is very bad at it) while Marco is a cold killer and probably knows how to react to being shot in a vest
The Moncada brothers( the twins) have stated in many interviews that during the making of the shootout scene, due to the budget at the time, a scene that takes a week to shoot was shot in only 2 days where 2 units work on the scene at the same time.
Yes, I’m always impressed with what they do with the tight timelines and tight budget!! I take more time editing each video than it took them to film it! 😅

Hank hand loading a black talon into a dropped desert eagle is one of the coolest action scenes in any TV show. Michael Mann should be jealous of that one. you could not write a better scene about hank failing up. he gets lucky that he found a black talon, lucky that he grabs the dropped gun, lucky that it was locked open, lucky its the same caliber as the black talon that fell next to him, and then finally nails a lucky head shot from his back while bleeding out. not to mention lucky that the action fully closed because the round had blood and dirt on it, which most likely would have resulted in the slide not fully locking and the gun not firing. LOVE that scene because despite the impossible god tier luck, everything that happens in that moment is entirely possible on its own.

My thoughts were racing with his in that moment, since I truly thought he wouldn't stand a chance 1v2ing them without a gun, in spite of the one minute warning actually allowing him to prepare for the attack. The car alarm coming back in full force at the end too was a great touch, even continuing into the end-credits.
Salamanca twins both using Colt Gold Cup National Match Enhanced M1911. The standard mag is 7-8 rounds, but an extended mag can hold more. But visually it doesn't look like they have extended mags.
And now we’ve reached one of the biggest turning points of the show! Both this episode and the next are arguably some of the most important. The flashback with hector always confused me since it’s not very clear what happened first, this flashback or the infamous Hermanos flashback. I guess the comment alluding to Gus possibly being a former Chilean General makes it more likely that this one happened first. Either way, looking forward to the second half of season 3!
Great question! The internet believes that this scene happened in 1988 and the Hermanos flashback happened in 1989. I think you're right that Hector's dialogue indicates this happened first. Eladio (presumably) on the phone is just about to start working with Gus. Thanks!

Really cool to hear that the scene of Jesse telling Walter that he was done with him was inspired by Rocky denying Micky in Rocky! I watched the show recently and thought it reminded me of that!

7:23 this is Walt being 100% honest. We even see it later in the series when Jessie consistently gets 96% and even higher sometimes. This is Walt dropping his ego for once. Knowing it will also manipulate Jesse but he was being honest and lowering his ego.
I still see it as manipulation, as Walt with his ego would never have admitted to that if he didn't think doing so would aid his goals. Jesse is a sucker for when someone appreciates him for once (given how his parents always just saw him as a disappointment). It worked for Walt here, and it works again later when Gus says he "sees potential" in Jesse to get him to eventually turn against Walt.
In seriousness though this episode I think has both my favorite and least favorite Jesse scenes, both in his hospital bed. The first speech he gives is definitely my least favorite, as incredible as an actor Aaron Paul is, he can't really pull off a deep grainy voice without seeming a little goofy, and the weird voice makes his lines that seem like he's trying WAY too hard to seem cool even worse, especially with his smug face. On the other hand, the speech he gives when Walter offers him the job is definitely my favorite scene of Jesse, unlike his first scene, his words hold real weight and emotion, his words are spilling out of him instead of being read off annoyingly slowly. The speech really feels like Jesse being who he is instead of who he thinks he should be, it's genuine and it's acted incredibly well. I also really like the face Saul makes at 1:38
I agree with you 💯 about Jesse's first speech! It does seem too forced. I have to think about what my favorite Jesse scene would be. I also like Saul's face at 2:49!
1:47 classic, it's not a bug, it's a feature! I forgot how quickly the one minute incident happened after Jesse's beating. On first watch I didn't find it as intense as I could've because I was spoiled on when Hank would actually die. Jesse Pinkmans speech hits hard, especially considering how many worse things happen to him after this, he hasn't seen anything yet. On a lighter note, 8:00 actually got me. I knew about the 308 connection, but didn't realize the episode number. I still wonder if there's a meaning behind that, or if it's a neat pattern for the sake of it.
I thought you might like 8:00! 😂 I couldn't stop chuckling when I did that. My understanding is that they purposely chose 307 because of the episode number, so the 308 thing just happened because of that. It's too bad they didn't think to change or just remove that shot of the time on Jesse's phone!
I do believe the 308 has meaning. 308 was the first address 'Walt's home' that the Cousins were sent off to, to eliminate Walter. That number's become kind of a like a target zone for them. But since Gus had redirected the Cousins to a different target (Hank), as Walt is the goddamn cook and money source of his opperation, the number/address of the target zone became Hank.
Thanks, Blok Vader!! Sometimes I feel it, but it’s a lot of fun getting to the end result. This one had a lot of continuous shots with long speeches containing tons of 3-4 second pauses, which made the editing harder than normal! 😅
at 9:28 you can see the rear end of what looks to be Jesse's red Monte Carlo the lowrider Tuco was killed next to. at the very least it's a similar car with a similar color
There’s a lot of these moments but on rewatching, Hank not realizing after this particular thing - “who you working with?” How about the chemist with Marie’s phone number that’s one of the closest people in your life - takes suspension of disbelief
It's quite common for automatic pistols (such as the Beretta 92) to have as many as 19 rounds available (18 in the magazine and one more in the chamber). The 7+1 is an outdated convention and is seen in the Colt 1911 and other single-stack magazine pistols. The cousins carry Colt Gold Cup 1911s which have the 7+1 (assuming .45 caliber). If they were 9mm, they'd be 9+1. Either way, 11 is too many.
I lost all respect for Marie when she immediately started trying to formulate a cover story for Hank's fuckup when even he was accepting what he'd done
Jesse should never have pressed charges on this. The fake call was an overstep and Hank rightfully lashed out about it, now it’s even and they can go back to their cat and mouse game
Yoo im surprised nobody noticed how captain says "guess you've got a Guardian Angel Hank" then literally minutes later, he gets a call warning him nd saving his life... Doesnt get more 'Guardian Angel than that lmao
When I first watched the show the warning Hank gets confused me as it sounded just like his ASAC who was in the previous scene. I know it's supposed to be a guy using a voice modulator but I just thought how does Hank's boss know about the hit.
When Marco doesn't take the kill shot and gives Hank time to load that nasty bullet reminds me of Prince Oberyn, the Red Viper, in his fight with the Mountain.
Regarding the twins’ guns, Mexicans typically favor .38Super. In terms of realism, it’s unlikely they would have used .45ACP, so the sample round would not have chambered, although they would have used chromed 1911s.

That’s an excellent point! It’s easy for me to forget the experience of a first-time viewer, but you’re absolutely right!
I see it as the death of his old persona... To give way to the new, reformed, respectful and focused Hank that we see once he starts rehabilitation

But since Gus had redirected the Cousins to a different target (Hank), as Walt is the goddamn cook and money source of his opperation, the number/address of the target zone became Hank.
why do you still have around 6 thousand subs? you should have MILLIONS subs by now. THE RUclips ALGORITHM CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS!!!!!!!
🤣 Thanks!!! All your comments should help the algorithm!
Goddamn the editing just gets better, props to you for making these videos again and again, I have no clue how you dont get burnout haha
Thanks, Blok Vader!! Sometimes I feel it, but it’s a lot of fun getting to the end result. This one had a lot of continuous shots with long speeches containing tons of 3-4 second pauses, which made the editing harder than normal! 😅
Dude the member outros must take so long, the creativity in this one is hilarious. Keep it going!
Thanks!! I love it when there’s a natural way to tie it into the episode. That’s not always the case! 😅
Also when you have the actors saying custom stuff - are you using an AI voice modulator??
You know I had to cop that membership keep the videos coming and make sure they are up to Pollos standards.
Awesome, thanks!! I’ll try!
Hope to see you break down BCS after all this. Maybe an El Camino video too.
Yep, I’ve been planning to do BCS the same way. I hadn’t really thought much about El Camino, but that makes sense! 😁 Thanks!
love this breaking bad details sundays
Thanks! I love seeing comments like this come in!
Have u ever visually imagined a "Poop storm" .... its horrendous...
Not really!
Is the lobby at 3:14 the same lobby as Ted’s business when Walt shows up throwing the plant?
No, but it has a very similar look!
dude this video is amazing, really tells us why this is the best show of all time
Thanks!! I’ve learned so many things making the video for each episode!
at 9:28 you can see the rear end of what looks to be Jesse's red Monte Carlo the lowrider Tuco was killed next to. at the very least it's a similar car with a similar color
Oh, interesting! Thanks!
Man - you make good videos. Keep it up!
Hey, thanks!! I’m glad you found the channel!
There’s a lot of these moments but on rewatching, Hank not realizing after this particular thing - “who you working with?” How about the chemist with Marie’s phone number that’s one of the closest people in your life - takes suspension of disbelief
That’s definitely the toughest one!
wow man i cant wait for the last episode, i hope youre posting these to the breaking bad subreddit. your videos and commentary are great
Thanks! I haven’t been posting anywhere else. I don’t know what the rules are about promoting your own videos, but I’m happy for others to share! 😁
The exit being synchronized but not scripted shows they new the role they signed up for
Indeed!
Oh, interesting. Thanks! I keep getting conflicting info, and I don’t know enough about the topic myself!
11:38 BROOOO, AIN'T NO WAY CARTOONIZANDO IS A MEMBER OF YOUR CHANNEL
Yep! I’m very grateful!
Eu tô chocado KKKKKKKKKKKK
The jingle of a newly upranked member is so happy
"Hypertanr is a 6 month member"
Thanks! Some people find it annoying!
I lost all respect for Marie when she immediately started trying to formulate a cover story for Hank's fuckup when even he was accepting what he'd done
I can see that.
Irony is she is still the most compassionate character.
She would be just like Walt if she had the brains and the cunning to get away with it
Jesse should never have pressed charges on this. The fake call was an overstep and Hank rightfully lashed out about it, now it’s even and they can go back to their cat and mouse game
It did set many bad events into motion!
A glass of oj feeling pretty good rn
😂🥤
editing is amazing
Thanks!!
Yoo im surprised nobody noticed how captain says "guess you've got a Guardian Angel Hank" then literally minutes later, he gets a call warning him nd saving his life...
Doesnt get more 'Guardian Angel than that lmao
Great point!
Hank was like then he was like
Exactly right!
The leaves and bark are not fake, it’s called a gradient filter that is placed in front of a lens, I darkens the area and adds a hue.
Oh! Thank you!
i had this episode playing on my tv by coincidence while I was watching
Wow! Awesome!
11:09 wait a second... THAT'S MATT, the guy before the last one. Matt is a Brazilian youtuber who goes by the username "Cartoonizando"
Good eyes! 😄
"he WAS family" let bro cook
Editing is top notch
Thanks!
4:00 this scene makes me laugh every single time 😂
😂
When I first watched the show the warning Hank gets confused me as it sounded just like his ASAC who was in the previous scene. I know it's supposed to be a guy using a voice modulator but I just thought how does Hank's boss know about the hit.
Yeah, I hear the resemblance! 😂
Hanks car has been shot more times than the Terminator
🤣
308 showing up on hanks car clock could show the impact walt is having on his family
True!
Only Mike could drown someone with a puddle 😂😂
🤣 Although it helps if the subject can’t move!
@@betterwatchtv true ;)
When Marco doesn't take the kill shot and gives Hank time to load that nasty bullet reminds me of Prince Oberyn, the Red Viper, in his fight with the Mountain.
Ah, nice!
Regarding the twins’ guns, Mexicans typically favor .38Super. In terms of realism, it’s unlikely they would have used .45ACP, so the sample round would not have chambered, although they would have used chromed 1911s.
Thanks for the info!
S3 Walt “mill-yun”
S5 Walt “bill-yun”
There’s just something about the way Cranston says it lol
I’m also amused by the way he says “unde-stand” without the r!
i've always respected aaron paul for having the balls to get beat up like that due to low vfx and makeup funds
He has definitely gone above and beyond (like being dehydrated during 4 Days Out).
i think this is one of my favorite episodes of the show. the ending scene is just so good
Very cool and highly entertaining! Subbed!
Woo-hoo! Thanks!
Bravo my friend what a masterpiece!
Thank you!
3:08 could be just a reference to the episode number too, its Season 3 episode 8
That’s why they chose 3:07 (this is actually episode #7!), and I *think* the 3:08 is just the consequence of the minute passing.
