    I have watched many videos on this hydra debacle, and somehow Nubs comes in late to the party fresh off holiday and breaks it down in the most clearest way possible. That green/yellow/red bar showing the "fun" stages of hydra diminishing was genius and truly articulates what has happened here.

      Feel obligated to say I am mostly good with the hydra changes. Mostly. But with Trunda teams still working... that's a fubar on Plariums end. I also feel like they did too much at once. Like maybe they should've rolled out just a few features and see how that went first.

    Ok so here's what happened:
    When Hydra released it wasn't all that fun. With a couple updates they made it manageable and then they slowly but surely gave us more and more solutions to make the content fun: buffed and new champions, buffed and new gearsets, awakenings, updated and buffed awakenings, mythical champions, hex rework, etc etc. Until finally the content was fun - excluding the frustrating to run Wixwell team.
    Then Plarium said whoops we never meant for Hydra to be enjoyable and wrecked it. And truthfully they could have done this and made it work by simply introducing ultra nightmare and having the changes take place on that difficulty anyways.

  • @SaltyFlatEarth

    The only good change was the max turns. They effed us over big time on everything else and Trunda is still not fixed. I totally agree that the turn limit should still be lowered to 500 and then they can lower the rewards requirements. The game mode takes too much time!!!

  • @KeithDCanada
    @KeithDCanada 3 месяца назад +6

    There are two levels of problem:
    1) Endgame and Endgame-adjacent players
    2) Midgame and lower players
    For Endgame/Adjacent players in Clash the problem is mainly the Serpent's Will 100% damage mitigation that is the issue. They are still crushing the damage to get all their chests, all their personal weekly rewards, free all their swallowed allies... etc. It's just that they kill so fast that they are seeing 4 Heads come back at almost the same time with Serpent's Will.
    For Midgame players, and below, who were just minding their own business over on Classic Hydra, the problem is the increased Head HP to chew through at the 5th Digestion. Many of this level of player was at a point here they were 'just' able to get the 1 key chest from Hard. I know, for me personally, my main Hard team on full auto, with me just manually changing the target as needed, was putting out 30-35 million per key. That stopped immediately when Head HP's changed on the 5th digestion, and suddenly I didn't have the damage to free my swallowed champ in 2 turns. So no instead of my run lasting 7 to 9 Digestions... it starts falling apart on the 5th. Which effectively halves my damage just because I don't last near as many turns. My champ's damage has not gone down (because I have no Trundas, no Yumekos, no Wixwell teams, or Shield com teams with Yanicka)... it's gone down because they have put up a new bottleneck for me at the 5th digestion.
    So, in changes that were advertised to be made to address imbalance on the Clash side of Hydra, I feel that the smaller players, who were mainly just focused on Classic Hydra, are the one's who took the bullet.... yes endgame players are seeing reduced damage, but they are all seeing it, an should be still on the same level playing field with each other, and they are still collecting all their same weekly and personal rewards, as they were before. That doesn't seem fair, and it doesn't seem like it was part of what they said they wanted to do.

    With the change to the HP of the decapped heads, champ rotation is thrown out the window. As I've said time and again, Plarium has no concept of tuning: they either under-tune and let stuff go rampant, or they over-tune and overcorrect. After they made the change to Trunda and shields, they should have left the Hydra as is, and then changed the Hydra Clash. Instead they changed the turn limit, changed the HP from infinite, changed the Serpent's Will to a block damage, and HAVEN'T changed the chests, point requirements, or Hydra Clash in any way. They are hopelessly shortsighted

    It felt like the champ changes, that were "thoroughly tested" by Plarium, were intended to reduce Trunda to still be the best but more reasonable to keep the Krakens happy; and destroy the shield comps the low spend and f2p were using. And the Hydra changes were to cripple low spend/f2p and try to force them into spending by raising the barriers to entry. Very early game and end game players are mostly unaffected, just lower points on end game. Mid-late game players losing half there damage is a blow. Huge difference going from 300-400 hydra turns to 130-160 due to devour change, devour change is completely ignored by early and end game players but kills players that are coming up that don't have insane damage but were able to drag the fight out.

      I disagree with it hurting ftp *late game* players...I find it hilarious my ftp endgame team (lucky with Teox) is hitting for 500M on the new update but never made it past 700M previously is beating out CC comps that theyve shown on videos where before they were comfortably hitting 1B on the regular. This Hydra change hurts endgame players worse because it caps out damage around the 500-700M range for 99% of players regardless of optimal gear and team comps.

    In my opinion the only way to future proof Hydra Clash is to put a cap on the amount of points that can be earned per key per difficulty. Hydra Clash is supposed to be a clan based event and by putting a cap on points forces every clan member to participate in order to win. If for some reason there is a tie between clans. The clan with the best time and fewer turns could win for example. Then Raid could possibly reverse some of the more unpopular changes and allow players to push their accounts to see how many billions of damage they can do without effecting the points. Nerfing champs isn’t really going to solve anything because they’ll just be replaced by other OP champs and the cycle will continue.

Yes the turn reduction is good, yes they improved on the Trunda dominace, but at the same time they made Hydra so much worst and frustrated so many players. Instead of nerfing two overpowered champs they nerfed hundereds of champions and uncounted teams, didn't adapt the required scores and made the Mode way less fun.

  • @kcazman13

    I think your right about the time of damage and limit of damage with Hydra heads. I would also say, it’s good to slow down decapitated head but not new head. If the 100% no damage also included 100% turn meter block, that would help also. So we can still put on decrease speed when the head comes back, but it doesn’t slow it down the first turn and if dec spd was 2 turn, then it’s second turn it will effect

    The fact that they lowered the turns, lowered the damage, but kept the same requirements for chests is the worst. It does nothing to krakens who still have multibillion teams that easily get it, but everyone else gets screwed on the rewards. Then yeah, agreed on the "fun" phases being shorter. Also, multiple times I've run into Serpent's will being up on all the heads, so nothing can be done. All in all, these changes are a huge fail, and make hydra feel even worse than it did before.

    I think that this is a good change overall, but it came at the wrong time.
    If this change happened right when Hydra Clash dropped, I don't think people would be freaking out. The problem is that people got used to winning whatever rewards they were winning, and this has taken it away from some.
    I do think that when people get a better hold on Provoke and block buffs cycling, scores will creep back up.
    I used Soulless on my hard team and that team suffered way less from this update than my brutal team largely because he can so effectively put out provoke. Champs with multiple provokes will be much better than champs with a single provoke with additional other utility.

  • @ApoJake13

    They could have handled it so much better. Like, why not just change the way how the Clash chest reward threshold works. Instead of making it the *actual* damage done, make it so that if you do a certain damage threshold, you get 1 point. The next threshold: 2 points. And do so for maybe 4 or 5 thresholds.
    So for example, if the damage threshold for, say, 5 points, is 80 million (or whatever, pick a number), then the person doing 80 million damage gets 5 points and the person doing 200 billion gets the same 5 points. Then they can still boast about how much damage they're doing, but it doesn't throw off Hydra Clash really at all.
    I don't know, just a thought. Either way, I think Plarium did a shit job on how they handled it.

    Still no excuse for those of us fighting to get to top chests, getting hammered so hard with this nerf. Spent most of my resources (energy and silver) during the Asgard events, then the nerf comes. I barely had enough to regear my Demon lord to get to half my regular points. It will be months before I can afford to regear 18 champs for the New Hydra. Not to mention that I've had to manual hydra just to get to 1/4 of the points I used to which means 2-3 times more time spent in Hydra defeating the whole turn count reduction. All around failed to do anything to those that were abusing the system, hammering hard those that can't fight back against the "adjustments". Shitty real shitty.

    I agree with you! They made Hydra even worse to play. It wasn't really popular before and most people didn't really enjoy doing a 1h manual key. And Plarium just made it worse. The AI on auto is just horrible. The F2P are the most impacted by these changes. They should change the block damage and make so that no more than 2 heads can have it at the same time (no matter when they respawn)

    Felt stupid when everything is decapitated - about as bad as all the serpent's' will. The fact that all heads can be down all the time for some teams was what created the whole hydra point problem - super powered teams could just keep the hydra always dead. I just don't like the collateral impact on weaker teams that couldn't wipe everything all the time.
    There was no need to break Wixwell for hydra - not with Taunt gone.

    My teams are barely affected by this because I wasn't doing over 200m per difficulty. There is a lot more RNG now though because of the uptime though.
    I still hate poison cloud (run Ukko so very susceptible to this), decay and suffering causing runs to end early because of unbreakable devours. My solution for Plarium would be to put devour over the shield.

    CC wanting more nerfs... also, that team hitting 5b with trunda was not about the champion but about the player. The range of trunda is wide, some doing under 1b some more. Just like before all the nerfs - i don't care and like to see people pushing damage. Now we have the nerf idea rolling, it wont stop. Next they will nerf Leyasu or Teox. Calling for MORE nerfs because 1 player excels is unbelievable. I don't have Trunda and now i have been punished in this game because of videos like this one that is based on nonsense.

    I dont care about hydra anymore, I just hit auto and whatever happens, happens. They should have just left it alone, and scrapped hydra clash. No need for rewards based competitive mode on PVE content. They should just put the clash rewards in the progressive chests. I used to manual three runs, now i dont care.

  • @MrNarcus
    @MrNarcus 3 месяца назад

    Plarium absolutely does not understand the concept root cause analysis. They change a bunch of things at once, wipe their hands and call it a day. They didn't even fix the underlying issues lmao. They don't properly playtest this shit.
    The fact that they called out players for doing too much damage and avoiding mechanics as a justification for changes is comical. They seem to forget that they constantly release increasingly more power-crept champions, sets, gamemodes, etc. They did it to themselves, and then they sell these solutions and give us a surprise pikachu face when those same people steamroll the content.
    Hydra is damn near two years old at this point. People's accounts have moved on from Hydra and have the content on farm (This is not to say that the majority of playerbase has hydra on farm, I have a 4 year old account and just started hitting top brutal key in hydra). The same things happened to clan boss. It's nearing the point of being old content other then the sets still being relevant and it having a "competitive" aspect to it.
    Instead of adjusting the scoring in clash, or just changing trunda, yumeko, and wixwell, they have decided to nerf two of those three (even though trunda is still phenomenal), remove player-positive mechanics, worsen other mechanics, and then leave everything else unchanged. So the people already farming hydra are still just checking out farming it, unless they are taking clash seriously, and everyone else who doesnt have it on farm are now being punished.

  • @RavenDeepwood
    @RavenDeepwood 3 месяца назад

    Hydra should be anything less then 750 at most. 1000 turn limit is fine. It's sapose to be a long battle and it the only game mode that you can really get stuck into.
    New serpents will buff sucks and has just made the game more undesirable to play. Along with the change to decapitation it's kinda like what's the point.
    Plarium doesn't care, it's end game content and they don't give a fuck if it's enjoyable or not. As long as it drives sales towards Trunda style teams they are happy.
    I just run mu NM team now, get my personal rewards and then min run for top chests in other difficulties.
    Till they fix it properly for balance and enjoyment (doesn't have to be easy, just enjoyable) Hydra holds no interest any more.
    Glad you got some good time way man, welcome back to hell 🤣 jj

    I’m not opposed to Plarium making changes, but they do so without adjusting other related things. They keep adding gear but limit how much gear you can have and they keep the crap gear. Lowering Hydra scores without adjusting chest rewards. It seems like they don’t play the game.

  • @robertram945
    @robertram945 3 месяца назад

    They made the cap 1000 turns but totally destroyed the AI, Auto is unusable and the manual 1000 turns takes more time then the old 1500 turns because of the additional attention required. One mistake, one bad rng at turn 700 and your champions get eaten and it is game over.

  • @IceMyser

    I just don't get why they don't apply changes based on difficulty.
    Let normal/hard remain as it was, change brutal and add for example the block damage, add the HP bar for nightmare.
    Or make a UNM game mode that gives more points for clash to separate the competitive element from the rest that just want to do the hydra for some rewards.
    They are so braindead when it comes to their own game it is ridiculous.

    Let's see my high scoring hydra team on Rotation #2 Normal was doing over 200 million, now I have to run it about 12 times just to finally get to 100 million.. This team doesn't have Wixwell or Trunda... Yet they claimed they fixed Trunda, there are teams with Trunda still scoring insane damage so Plarium will continue to sell her in packs and events..

    For the trunda bit, I’m wondering how much is enough? I feel like the community feedback was mostly “she does too much damage.” And in fairness they reduced it a lot. The 10x ratio you tossed out is actually a bit off. It went from more like 18x (90B Trunda vs. 5b Basic) to 3x. What’s the right ratio? 0.5? 1? 2? Part of the feedback as well was don’t make trunda irrelevant.

      It’s actually 20b to 120b and the 20b could of been a lot higher, so 6x. Also rn is the worst rotation for trunda so the difference is actually way higher then 3x.
