Nice as always! This is why we need independent reviewers. To say the truth : "dont buy now". "Dont buy the most expensive thing." "If you already happy, dont buy at all. Just keep playing"
One thing i can add is even lower tier CPUs are so good these days. You can totally enjoy most(or even every game) with something like i3 12100F. It just blows my mind how fast this thing is.
i5 12400 with DDR4 was insane value for the price. $150 Z690 board, $100 32GB DDR4-3200 (OC'd to 3400), and the 12400 itself was only $200 and came with Modern Warfare 2 (a $70 game) thanks to an Intel promotion.
Unless you're a top 1% gamer that's competing in competitions for money the i5 is the goat. I don't see why you'd need more than this for gaming at any resolution. Based on 12600k and 13600K the i5 is really coming in strong these last two releases.
Its nice to havr the extra cores when u need
I really advice undervolting the 13600K, especially if you are using air-cooling: I got a 20 Celsius reduction in temperatures and the performance increased by about 700 points in Cinebench (to 23407 points). And of course the power consumption dropped by a lot (can't remember the exact number)!
I have my i5 13600k oc to 5.6ghz for all pcores and 4.5ghz for all ecores 🙂🙂
@@Khalilgemo what voltage uunder load and how much power draw? p95 small fft stable? Unfortunately i cant get 4.5 ghz all e cores stable without going too crazy on voltage
@@mikas2934 I'm at about 1.25 voltage constant with E cores at 4.0 and 2 P cores at 5.5 and then the rest between 5.4 and 5.2. For air cooling it works well- you could do higher voltage and clocks with water cooling.
I am not an extreme gamer or anything. I just want to plug and play things for the most part but I still listen to your advices when buying hardware. You are my go to youtuber for all things PC. On this channel there is 0 crap only truth.
FYI for tarkov you can set force v-sync off in nvidia control panel and turning on in game will just unlock frames, but you don't actually need a monitor with higher refresh rates

Thanks for adding tarkov but 5800x3d would have been nice to seen on the benchmarks
The 5800x3d is still the best for tarkov. Can't wait to see what Zen 4 3d v-cache does for tarkov. The cache makes a huge difference.
AMD has been SMASHED enough already ,,,
Yo man i got to thank you after watching your tests and commentaries on cpu's i started to really notice the amdips of my 3900X and now im with an i5 14600KF and its working like a charm
13th gen looks to scale more heavily with DDR5 this time around. Would be interesting to see some documented comparisons.
Yeah, would’ve been nice to have a 13/DDR5 thrown in there but we’ll get that soon. We already know that’s around a 5% uplift, so that would narrow that 8% gap down to somewhere around 3%. For half the price. Intel offering real value here for people who missed 12th gen.
@@A-A-Ron25 I wonder how it compares to SAM with DRR5 and Zen 4, with an RDNA3 card. Might make Crintel look like a joke. Already does with RDNA2 with the 5800X3D and DDR4 compared to alder lake. What a joke, Gelsinger isn't enough to save Intel.

Exactly what I'm going to do
I think i might do that
Same
It’s what I did. No regrets.
I’m doing the same, wish I had ponied up for a 5800x3d about 6 months ago
The six core only being 8% slower is crazy. Makes me really tempted at $330. Looks like the L2 cache boost strategy worked for both amd and intel. It might stop scaling at a certain point for intel in which case the 13900k and 13700k might be identical in gaming.
He got the results right but kept saying percent but by looking at the numbers it was obvious it was fps diffrence and if conert that to % it would be nothing burger i think he was referring to FPS, my math says 2-3% slower and im pretty sure that's what he meant.
Seeing where the i5 & i7 are going with core count and performance, a i5 might be all you need for gaming in the future. I'll be upgrading my 10900K to a 14700K next year.
Would also like to see jufes doing more comedic skits after this wave of cpu reviews 😂
"Ya boi Generic" is the GOAT tutorial maker.
I just want to see what the 13700k does. Basically a 12900k with higher clocks, lower power, at 12700k price.
wow, you have a good point there. Even the 13700K has more L2 cache, 24MB vs 14MB so there is almost no way the 13700K loses to a 12900K for like $50 less at this moment.
Looking to upgrade my 8700k and the 13600k seems so good for the money at only $300
Same but thinking about going for the 7700 cause it’s a beast and I can upgrade for another 3 generations. I have a 9700 though

„really high high's and low lows“ the lows: 200 🤣🤣 nice vid keep it up
Jufes 7950x disabled is not a 7700x, with 7950x 8 cores enabled you get a lot more cache per core which does make a difference. It's not correct to just write it off as 7700x.
No, CCD 1 can't access CCD 2 cache, so it's just 40mb of cache, like 7700x.
@@thevaultsup Not true, the cache pool is unified, not separate between CCD's.
@@blueeyednick how in the hell can l3 be unified between 2 chiplets
@@blueeyednick No again, it's 32MB of L3 cache per CCD, add 2 of them, it goes to 64MB, but it's tied to their own CCD, look at die-shot if you don't believe me at this point.
And it's not possible to have unified L3 cache between chiplets without annihilating latencies (With AMD design), the only way to unify would be to create a virtual L4 (like IBM did) when once a L3 pool fiils up with data, a L4 Virtual cache is created (Which is the sum of all L3), but then to go access others L3 it has to go throught the I/O die and all which would greatly reduced perf benefits.
I kinda hoped since the Zen 4 chiplets were packaged tighter to each others, that they would be some sort of links so that 1 CCD could access the other CCD L3, but looks it's just a packaging change and nothing more.
We might see those type architecture later one, which would be the logical move anyways with V-Cache.
I don't even know why i started to ramble about all of this since anyways disabling a CCD, disables everything.
Did you use a Z690 or Z790 board on the 13600k ?
dude i bought the 13600K for $300.00 even and wow what a beast in gaming.
Can't wait for 13900k max tuning ddr4 gear1 vs ddr5 comparison
In regards to Horizon Zero Dawn favoring AMD CPUs (in my opinion):
- it was first developed for the Playstation 4/4 Pro and then ported to Playstation 5 (which all have AMD-based CPU/GPU hardware). So that is probably why it seems more optimized for AMD hardware.
- Wiki mentions the game uses the "Decima engine" (which seems it was used in other PS4 games as well like Killzone, Until Dawn and Death Stranding).
Check out the big brain on Konstantinos!!
That’s good insight and research. I’m fascinated about the relationship between game design/engine and hardware, and the resulting impact on performance. I wish someone provided more technical content like that but I may be in a very small minority of enthusiasts looking for that who aren’t trying to go into full-blown programming and engineering.
Are you going to add the game rust into your benchmarks at some point? I remember you mentioned something about it being a good Benchmark game and I have been wanting to see some Rust comparisons on the new Gen graphics and CPU to see if it's just as crap as it was on the previous gen
I need more time with it to find a proper benchmarking process, the game is an absolute mess with variables. It is still dogshit with all CPU’s. intel + ddr5 performs the best tho
Any comments on its performance with a 6800xt? I just bought my new amd rx 6800xt looking to upgrade my CPU and mobo options are 7600x 5900x and i513600k?
finally! mainstream channels are for people who're afraid of bios
In your tomb raider bench, the 13600K actually gains performance by increasing the resolution. Is that because the CPU is so limited at 1080p that it's slow delivering to the FPS pipeline is causing it to deliver less FPS?
Insane budget performance. How the turn tables with Intel providing the value proposition and extra cores (albeit with e cores). Thanks, Jufes!
Budget? In Europe it cost 430€. The i7 12th 400 and same the 5800x3d

@@ZackSNetwork You can put the definition there if you want. Basically in Intel's view K-series are all enthusiast parts: i5-K is the entry, i7-K is the mid level and i9-K is the high end. Your definition can be different, but I am not going to start an argument on a topic like that.
Can you explain why people shouldn't/don't buy 4 DIMM DDR5 motherboards? Looking to start a new build.
2 Dimm boards clock higher and are more stable for DDR5. Also Z790 apparently hits higher DDR5 speeds.
Would using a B660M Mortar max wifi with the blck clock generator increase performance with the intel cpu's over the z690?
Late reply but not it won't have any advantage over a Z690 when using a 'K' CPU. If anything it will be much more comfortable to be using a Z690 and punching in "normal" CPU Core/Cache and DRAM ratios instead of tweaking with the BCLK.
I can highly recommend the MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4, it's on Amazon for $160. In my anecdotal testing with a 12700K the cheap MSI did better for core and memory overclocking than my much more premium and expensive Asus Z690-A Strix D4 which is a $300+ mobo.
The advantage of having the B660M Mortar Max Wifi, is being able to overclock 12th gen non-K CPUs, but this won't work with non-K 13th gen CPUs, as Intel disabled that. So if you're going with an i5/i7 13th gen, you might as well get a Z690.
The only cheaper Z690/Z790 boards available are on alixpress by manufacturers like Maxsun, ONDA but I don't know how good their BIOSes are so for now I'd pass on them.
I got the i5 13600kf and yoooooo it’s so beastly omg . Coming from a 9700 sheeeesh !!!!!!

I was right. IPC is the same between Alder Lake and Raptor Lake.
If you run console emulators, the difference will be basically nothing and there's no point going beyond an Alder Lake i7.
Microcenter selling 13900k at 569.99 , crazy. Then amazon sold and shipped by Amazon shows 800 bux . Buildzoid was raving on 13600k 5.6 all P cores w E cores disabled
Both the i5 and i7 from Raptor Lake are an anomaly. A lot of cores for a cheap price. Now an i5 is a beast for streaming.

This is great thank for sharing. What are the overclock settings to achieve the max performance on the i5 13600k?
Just feels like you hamstrung the 13600k with the ddr4. Sure it's possible, but it's not an equal test when the others are running ddr5. It's still good to see, but need to see both options.
Feel free to test it on your own
What maps you use to benchmark tarkov? what settings? also if you put nvidia reflex low latency on in setting or in nvidia control panel it does not limit fps, or is there something related to that i dont know?

7700x with 6400 ram means u ran InfinityFabric in 2:1 ratio ? Or were you able to run the IF @2200mhz stable in 1:1 mode ?
Jufes, was this with a z690 or z790 mobo?
The tests and content I was waiting for. Excellent.
Was your 13600k unable to get to 5.6ghz stable? Seemed like many others were able to OC to 5.6 all core without too many issues on that chip.
In the UK DDR4 is dead, it only costs £60 extra to buy 16gb DDR5 6000 vs 16gb DDR4 3200, board wise you are looking at about £40 extra to get a DDR5 version of a typical Z690 board. Looking at game benches DDR5 is worth 5 - 10% at stock settings so would be more overclocked. Considering the whole build would cost around £1000 an extra £100 to get that 5 - 10% is worth it.
Hell when I went from my FX6300 to an i5 Haswell which cost over double I only gained 15% comparing both machines clocked as far as I could push them. Apart from my gen 1 Ryzen that is my worst upgrade to date. Even going from a Phenom II quad to a Bulldozer was as good and it hardly cost anything.
He is talking about already having decent ddr4 form your current setup, not to buy the new one.
How useful is E core ovetclocking? I bought 13600k and I have it set to 5.3ghz and e cores to 4ghz

I need some advice. I have an i5-11400f with an rtx3070. My ram is kind of crap (3600cl18). Should I upgrade my ram, or maybe upgrade cpu+mobo+ram?
Hi Jufes would performance get hit by much if I used currently owned budget 3200 CL16 memory?
Best gaming nerd channel ever always look forward to your benches
I was curious what motherboard you used with that 13600k?
4266C17 i literally called it, i said raptor lake will probably be even better with DDR4 because i bet the IMC can hit RAM speeds of 4266C116/C17, not as fast as Zen3 APUs at 4933C17, but a hell of alot more powerful per-core.
AMD really screwed up when they cut the cache in half on their Zen2 and Zen3 APUs, they have a faster monolithic design, that could have been much faster, and thus more expensive than the 5800x, but the took a shotgun to both knees by only giving it 16MB of cache, fewer PCIe lanes, and making all the PCIe lanes gen3.
I just hope they dont make the same mistake with Zen4 APUs, because a 5nm monolithic CPU+IO might actually see speeds of 7200C30 as "the sweet spot" with lower latency communication between the IO and core on top of that.
IF AMD cuts the cache of their 7000 series APUs in half i will lose all respect.
I'll still use them in server for their efficiency, or if they make a banger of a CPU, but it is in AMD's best interest to have a good monolithic APU, even if it means giving up 2 GPU compute units, dont give up that cache, make the die bigger if needed, and charge more for it, because a full cache 7700G would be noticeably faster than a 7700x with like for like RAM/board

I told myself that 12700k was a golden purchase when I got it half a year ago and none of the new generation even tempts me but I have b-die that I want to crank on raptorlake's IMC...damn, I might drop in a 13600k or 13700k just to have the highest gaming performance you can get with DDR4 (besides 5800x3d in some games I guess)
My 13700k only does 4133, so beware you might get a trash sample

Most people thinks the 13000k series is better than zen4 when they are actually the same specs neck and neck this gen
Facts
13600K gets a bunch of e cores for productivity and costs the same as 7600X, I'd probably lean there as I'd likely end up buying a nicer board down the line for AM5 to run better ram with, which negates the platform longevity.

Bear in mind the DDR4 you are using is expensive and would cost more than the DDR5 I want to buy. I'm probably going to get a 12600K as they are £100 cheaper than the 13600K, in games there's not a lot in it and will offset the DDR5 cost, there is a bit more overclocking headroom but in my experience when you have to push the CPU to the max to do what you want it's time for an upgrade.
Yeah price in EU make zero sense. The i5 cost more compared to the i7 12700k
Any DDR5 under 6400 MHz will lose to DDR4 B-die in general, you have to go like 7000+ MHz to beat B-die and those are $400 kits. B-die Vipers are like $100.
