I fucking wept, same as you, first time I heard Wendy sing it. Do you know how good you have to be to make a Filipino hear a Whitney Houston song in a brand new light? Unbelievable.
There are some good vocalists out there, but honestly, there isn't another girl out of the entire 3rd and 4th gen of Kpop that's in Wendy's league. She was genuinely born to sing.
Lots of idol vocalists have amazing voices and range, some can or can’t convey and evoke emotion with it. And some have amazing technique, some are lacking. Wendy mastered it all though like no one else in the industry. I recommend watching her “Fine” cover on song stealer and more recently “everybody hurts sometimes”, i thought I heard it all until I saw those performances
The mic she was using was a gift from fans. She also sang a song with Ricky Martin … oh can I suggest watching Katrinka’s reaction to it? You’ll love it. Red Velvet Killing Voice soon!

What she did is incredible risky. Singing I have nothing with just a piano in the background and sitting down? That's the worst possible setting for that difficulty, and she killed it. She's the bar to measure other kpop singers.
Yeah Wendy’s just built different, there are maybe two or three other singers I can think of that can attempt something like that, but I’m not sure any of them can make it look that easy
I would really like to see you react to Belle's episode on Lee Mujin Service, she is a member of the group Kiss of Life, and despite her short debut, she is already one of the greatest voices to ever come through Kpop, it would be cool to see you react her and the group too.
Imo I dont think theres a better kpop vocalist, past or present than Wendy. Its been a while since she catched up to and surpassed Taeyeon, and shes still improving everyday and making it hard even for phenomonally talented young singers like Lily to catch up to. Shes technically proficient in almost all fronts, has superior range (both low and higher registers) and control, and is also a power belter similar to the likes of Ailee, Hyolyn, Solar and Wheein. There may be singers better than her in specific areas,, but none come close to the absolute complete package she is
I don't like to compare artists because it's all so subjective, but I could totally understand someone making the argument. She's certainly a talent that only really comes around very rarely!
