Check your facts on this one. The game A A said that took place in 1907 is on record as having taken place in 1911 in Cologne. I have another game played by the two at the same time and place which was drawn. O T said he played against AA in a drawn game.
      1. e4 e5 2. f4 Bc5 3. Nf3 d6 4. Bc4 Nc6 5. d3 Nf6 6. Nc3 Bg4 7. Na4 exf4 8.
      Nxc5 dxc5 9. Bxf4 Nh5 10. Be3 Qe7* 11. Bb5 f5 12. Bxc6+ bxc6 13. Qd2 fxe4
      14. Ng5 O-O 15. Nxe4 Rae8 16. Bf2 Qd6 17. Qe3 Qg6 18. O-O Bf3 19. Bg3 Nxg3
      20. hxg3 Bxe4 21. Rxf8+ Kxf8 22. Qxc5+ Kg8 23. dxe4 Qxe4 1/2-1/2
Since the two games are alike, one could be a derivation or alternative of the other.... Move 10 differs ... Qe7 instead of 10 ... Ne5 etc
Tenner was starting his chess career. He peaked young in 1914 and after moving to the US around 1922. His EDO (ELO) slowly declined until his death in 1948. I am looking for chess events in Cologne which took place in 1911 and so far have only found one in the mid summer lasting a couple of weeks in which neither AA or OT is mentioned. Still researching. This may have been played in a 3 game simul in which A A won all three, or 2.5/3.0 depending on how this game actually turned out.

I thought that Alekhine's best game is his triple queen sacrifice in Efim Bogoljubov vs Alexander Alekhine 1922 Hastings tournament. Pretty nice game.

    • @thechessnerd

Great point! I meant in the sense of accuracy with him scoring 100% in this one ❤️ Bogoljubow - Alekhine, 1922 is objectively better!

Alekhine made a lot of enemies, Denker and Fine in particular, in part because he had published a few Anti-Jewish articles for the Nazis. Fine got a lot of revenge when he published a book on the Psychoanalysis of Chess Champions. Fine's Chapter on Alekhine is the stuff that provokes violence.

    • @claytonbenignus4688

Alekhine wasn't perfect after all? Not surprising... As you might guess, I'm inclined to believe the detractors. Lying about winning a game seems more likely than lying about losing (we've all suffered painful losses without finding the need to deny it at some point, later) Your enthusiasm is infectious!

I grew up with Alekhine's best games books and he might be my favourite player. Nevertheless, it is widely believed that his famous "five queens" game (v Grigoriev, Moscow 1915), also mentioned in vol. 1, is also fabricated.

@@BoomBox263so you predicted the outcome of being a full piece up in 6 moves, checkmate variation #1 in 5 moves, checkmate variation #2 in 8 moves, and checkmate variation 3 in #14 moves all at once? Or was it easy to sacrifice your queen because you can’t think 2 moves ahead?

No, no. Alekhines Rh6!!! Is the only move that wins in a French Defense that Alekhine more than likely choreographed. There are FOUR queens on the board and the best move wasn't even with a queen but a quiet rook move! Alekhines LOVE for the game was SECOND TO NONE.
