- Standing on Russian soil, North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un shook hands with Putin while his country launched ballistic missiles in Japan’s direction. From Kim's medium of choice for travelling to Russia, to the prolonged handshake between Kim and Putin to the locations they chose for their meetings - this diplomatic meet was high on optics and the message was directly aimed at the West.
The US State department used words like 'troubled' and 'concerned' seeing the warmth between Putin and North Korea. But what is troubling the U.S.? Will North Korea aid Russia in Ukraine? Will Russia take stance with the hermit nation against US in the Korean peninsula?

"Hammering" implies near annihilation and pending imminent breakthrough and yet all the Russians have gained for the last year of heavy fighting were marginal gains of Bakhmut and Soledar and the hold on Bakhmut is tenouous at best with the Ukrainians having just taken Andriivka to the South. For the meager 25 square KM the Russians gained during the last year of their invasion, they have given up more already just at Robotyne. As for "hammering", The Kremlin cited figures have for the most part been debunked as the Kremlin will rely on mutliple drone views of the same destroyed Leopard tank for example and yet claim they destroyed 10. Ukranians do this too which is why it is best to go by independent unbiased agencies who actually geo-locate combat videos loaded by both sides onto social media. The findings show that actually both sides are getting hammered as should be expected in a modern war, including many Russian T-90 tanks in comparable numbers of Leopard 2 tanks destoyed. Basically the war is a stalemate.

Unlike Putin or Kim Jong Un, the communist Chinese are not stupid enough to allow their allies to try something as reckless as that since it will probably mean nuclear war eventually. Basically the communists (Soviets, communist Chinese, & DPRK) failed miserably and missed their chance when they tried it in the 1950s. Unlikely to happen now because even if Russia has 5000 nukes, NK maybe 10 nukes, and communist red Chinese another 400 nukes, their enemies also have many nukes and the entire world will lose at it will probably mean the end of the world.

The Soviets, communst Chinese and others would supply their allies, while their enemies in the West would also supply their allies. Basically the only difference in this new cold war is that the communist Chinese do not yet seem capable to admit the new cold war for what it is. As if this will somehow fool some people or change anything.
