- Before people make any more derogatory comments, please be aware that lead singer Doc Robinson passed away just a few months after this joyful reunion with his King Harvest bandmates. Can't we just be happy that they got to play together one last time and bring joy to those in attendance without making snarky comments about how he sounded? Maybe he was in pain. Have some compassion.
"Dancin' in the Moonlight" • King Harvest Reunion in Olcott, NY on 7/14/12...just a few months before singer Doc Robinson passed away...he looks so happy here!

Imagine expecting somebody to sound the same after 50 years, this is a perfectly fine performance of a classic song
A fine and natural sight, you might say
Still sounds like the original! The enthusiasm and love goes along way with their incredible talent!
I just saw Glenn Hughes recently and he blew me away. He was doing old deep purple and crushed it! But that's definitely the anomaly
It was 40 years at that time
2024 and this song never gets old it just gets better.
They can't even stay on key. 😅😅😅train wreck.
@@StasiNightDesk
That my point we all get older.
That was then and this is now.
At least I'm around to hear it, I know many who aren't. 🤷
You can't just hate it when a couple of old guys singin their old, nostalgic old songs. Simply a vibe.
Hell I became an old fan somewhere aloung the way
Very conformist shit narrow minded world 🌎 people energy, there's no old music, music is art and art is never old, fucking conformist narrow minded judgements and way's of life that I reject completely,
Nobody could play it better, I mean someone else could but it wouldn’t be the same 😉
Found a gym in Whittier ca this song was a big hit I was 18 reminds me of those great times@@justinj1359

Right there with you, buddy!! ❤ the Greatest Decade of Music!!!🎶
Just because this is my favorite song of all time. Hope they play this at my funeral.
Debra Reed That would be awesome way to cheer up everyone with smiles and tears.
Then you rise out of your coffin and sing along
Me 2 Debra, you read my mind...............
facts man!
I love it! That would be a great choice...hmmm...
If this song doesn't make you feel good you better check your pulse!!
I did...still ALIVE
I love this song. I'm young, still trying to figure out life. It's hard, but this song really brings joy to my soul. It's such a beautiful song.
It is beautiful & joyful. Hold on to that...you will figure things out
Hard part of being young and naive is not knowing what you don’t know. Everything could seem like it’s a big deal one day but as you learn to let go and keep going 10 years will pass by and it will feel different knowing the child you once were and still are but being trapped in an aging body. Don’t let the kid inside die
Watch the video of the story behind this song. From a place of sorrow cam this beautiful song of healing and joy.
@Odin, you have great taste in music! This song is so important to my cousin and me. The best days of our lives and this was in the soundtrack. Be optimistic, be true to yourself, and be kind. Always have great music! 🙏🏼☮️
Two more to try:
Candi Stanton: Young Hearts
Redbone: Come & Get your Love,
When I first came on RUclips, I had a conversation with Doc and asked him about what instrument that was playing the opening to this song. He replied back to me, "Oh, those magical notes! Those were played on a Wurlitzer electrical piano". I thought it was awesome that he answered me. RIP Doc, and thanks for this song that was part of my teen years.
That is so cool! Thnks for sharing!
I just read pegbarr’s notes at the top and I’m stunned - how could anyone write anything negative about this???? I was 12 when King Harvest released the song in 1972 (I had a 45!) and it is a lifelong favorite. This video makes it extra special. RIP Mr. Robinson.
I know ,right? How could anybody make derogatory remarks about this song?? I was 8 yrs. old when it came out- loved it from the first time I heard it!❤❤
whod listening in 2024? "Listening to 'Dancing in the Moonlight' by King Harvest in 2024 and still feeling the magic of this timeless classic! 🌕✨ The uplifting melody and feel-good vibes of this song never fail to brighten my day. It's amazing how a track from 1972 by King Harvest can still resonate so strongly. Let's keep dancing in the moonlight and cherishing the joy this song brings. Here's to the everlasting charm of this feel-good anthem! #DancingInTheMoonlight #KingHarvest #ClassicMusic #FeelGoodVibes #1972 #1976 #2024 🎶"
I’m overjoyed that this was recorded and preserved for future generations! A true gem 😊
It's not how the voices sing or how the fingers strum the instruments; but how the heart goes into the song, and this one had a lot of heart in it!
I think he sang really well for his age. 👏👏
He seemed to get comfortable a few bars in really!
If he sang often enough he can probably get his voice trained back to what it was. They didn't sound bad though
This song never gets old
Toploader did a nice remake of this. Great tribute to them.
It's 2021, I'm 74 yrs old , the lead singer sounds good to me ..... I'm dancing (sort of ) around the room. This is a timeless classic !
Love this who cares what they sounds like getting on stage and playing isn't easy I think they're tight they sound great !!
I love this. They are having a great time. God bless them. Awesome song
They sound badass what are you implying
I think they sounded fine. 🌸
big "doc" is gone but his legacy will stay in our heart every nite
I never, ever get tired of hearing this song!
like wise !!!
Doc..... YOU'RE NOW FOREVER DANCIN IN THE MOONLIGHT! Rest easy sweet prince!
Love this Song........Doc went for it and I am sure he knew he was not up to snuff but people came to see them and he put his best forward despite his obvious health issues.....Note the only one sitting down up front on stage.. Listen to how happy he is after the song and the thanks he gives.......RIP Doc!!!!! Thanks for great song King Harvest!!!!!!
I was in high school when the song came out, and they played it all the time on the radio. Couldn't get enough of it!! RIP Doc 💙💚💙💚💙
Doc nailed it! RIP. Thank you for the gift you left forever, the inspiration it gave to budding musicians and the warm memories it brings me back to.
This is one of the best songs from the 70's and invokes such warm feelings for me . It makes me want to dance naked under the moon . The problem is I would really feel it the next day . Getting old sucks . RIP Doc you had a beautiful smile
"Everybody here is out of sight
They don't bark and they don't bite
They keep things loose, they keep it tight
Everybody's dancin' in the moonlight"
It's all in the attitude ;) Keep rockin! The new generations love this music too.
Me too. The guys are sharing the sheer joy of their timeless classic song. It brings joy to anyone who happens across it...! It's timeless and magical, both!
Dancing naked under the moon, in the rain, with a special friend 🎉
I loved Doc's voice and King Harvest as a whole..May Doc always RIP
R.I.P Doc. Thank you for such a wonderful song. Thank you for that one more time, singing, smiling, and enjoying every second as we were.
I think its great to see them reminiscing old times. The performance isn't at their prime but Its the spirit of the song that moves you. Look how happy they are. its awesome!
I just said that my cousin. ☮️
One of those feel good songs!
Tom Schrade definetly
Baby boomers know how this song makes us feel... what a beautiful time for me and others, and such a timeless song! He passed away within a few months of this recording and sounded just like he did on the radio way back then... such an incredible memory... life truly is precious folks so please don't waste it getting upset about things that don't matter
Always loved this song.
Bossman60 ok boomer 😂 just joking haha
@@nebulouspranks 🤣
Yes! Takes me right back ... chills all over! ❤️❤️❤️
Things that don't matter like how the world has gone to complete shit now vs when you were first listening to this song when it hit the radio? Yeah. Thanks boomers you made good music then fucking ruined the world!

Love the imagery!!
pegbarr..it was...one of those forever memories
Rest in peace Doc. Thank you for your beautiful music. XO
Wow! I didnt know I spent most of my life thinking this was a Van Morrison song. First time this song hasnt lifted my spirits is knowing the singer passed. Now he can sing with the angels, Glory to God.
Rip Doc,I hope you're singing in heaven!
Love it!! Sorry to here Doc Robinson passed! What a great song!!
and suddenly it's the fall dance of '73
I remember the first time I ever heard this song. It was 1973, and my late brother and I had just run our Saab Sonnet sports car in a race at the Summit Point raceway. There was a party among the drivers and crews afterward, and it started to rain like cats and dogs. Absolutely nobody gave a damn and everyone just got wet and continued the party. This song was playing on someone's radio, and the girls were all dancing in the downpour. I was a young teenager and had never seen anything like this. It was a blast, and I have never forgotten it. This song takes me back to that memory, and thoughts of my big brother every time. Thanks guys.
Love it 2021!!!! R.I.P Dave “Doc” Robinson
This has to bet one of the best bands from the Rock and Roll era PERIOD. New work fellas, hope you never grow old !!!!
I would rather see and listen to a live performance like this that may not be technically 100% perfect, rather than a studio version that has been tweaked, layered, re-recorded, and subject to effects. This is genuine and perfect to me.
Rest well, Doc. You did great.
Still sound terrific 70's live on!
One of the greatest songs of the rock era. What a privilege to hear it from the originals. Nothing but respect for old folks who keep on keeping on. No matter what. Live 'til you die!
Doc was my roommate for a year at Cornell along with another roommate who was a football and lacrosse player. I was a baseball and football player. We asked him, "Why do you want to be our roommate?" and he said, "I have got to do some serious studying and you guys won't let my weird friends come here and hang around." When this song was on Walmart commercials last year, I talked with Sherm Kelly and he said, The song is the gift that keeps on giving." Great guys, great days.
If you haven't seen this video, you might enjoy it as well..Doc on stage with Huey Lewis and the News...you can just feel the joy in the crowd!

@@pegbarr If you want the epitome of a small world, when I went in the Army, I left my dogs Max and Bob who were also D.R.'s roomates (we called him D.R., not Doc) in the care of another Cornell student, John Stockman. One year later, John, Max and Bob got a new roommate from California named Hugh Cregg, later to be known as Huey Lewis. Max would not let Huey play the sax in the house. Huey confirmed all this when I asked him about it on his blog. Max was already famous having appeared in the September 1968 issue of Playboy featuring an article titled, "Fall Fashions on Campus."
@@robertfabbricatore7113 Wow, crazy! I wonder if Huey & D.R. knew of their (kind of)shared history when they played the song together onstage at ArtPark!
An all time classic!
This made my day. Beyond beautiful.
I read that King Harvest got together one more time in Olcott in 2023 after Ron Altbach passed away (he was a founding member and is seen here playing keyboard). I hope to one day see video of that somewhere on RUclips.
RIP Doc. Love this song!
doc we will miss you

One of my FAVORITE songs !!!!,,I was born in 1961 !!!!!!!!!!!!
I just got into this song and people shouldn’t hate bc so many bands have played without their lead singers . If the band is happy everyone should be happy to even hear these songs live
I love it. One of my favourite songs growing up.
These men still have it. They played this over the school intercom when i was in high school. Danced to it as well. Great seeing them!
STANDING Ovation. If you can't feel good was it that you're feeling?

This song is so fun. Thank you for recording this.
It was a wonderful opportunity to be able to record this at their reunion concert...RIP to Doc Robinson who passed a few months later
Absolutely love this song
A fine example of the human spirit if you don't know this song was inspired from a very tragic event and turned into a positive joyful song.
*I watched RUclips video where he explained HOW he ended up writing lyrics to this song. Almost Unbelievable what he & his female friend went through!!*
I just saw the story and I'm shocked. Triumph over Tragedy. My gosh.
Rest in Peace Doc. Y'all are and always will be my favorite band.
These guys were ahead of their time.
We get it on most every night
When that old moon gets so big and bright
It's a supernatural delight
Everybody was dancin' in the moonlight
Everybody here is out of sight
They don't bark, and they don't bite
They keep things loose, they keep things light
Everybody was dancin' in the moonlight
Dancin' in the moonlight
Everybody's feelin' warm and right
It's such a fine and natural sight
Everybody's dancin' in the moonlight
We like our fun and we never fight
You can't dance and stay uptight
It's a supernatural delight
Everybody was dancin' in the moonlight
Dancin' in the moonlight
Everybody's feelin' warm and right
It's such a fine and natural sight
Everybody's dancin' in the moonlight
Everybody here is out of sight
They don't bark, and they don't bite
They keep things loose, they keep things light
Everybody was dancin' in the moonlight
Dancin' in the moonlight
Everybody's feelin' warm and right

I love this even if it's 50 years old as I really appreciate the oldies
One of the best feel good tunes ever written!!
Even towards the end, Dave still sounds amazingly good. RIP brother and thank you for this now classic song!
I knew Dave ( Doc) Robinson since 1998 and his wife Lauren....and this Tribute concert was the highlight of his life.... I dont think he ever smiled like that in years! He passed away probably 6 to 8 months after this!!! I think he sounded fucking awesome for someone who was very ill!! But what matters most to me is the smile he has on his face.... he so needed that!!
That song deserves a sold out concert with a giant dance floor 🥺🔥
I still love them!! ❤️ This song will never get old..
I'm happy hearing this. I wouldn't have known there was a supposed problem if someone hadn't mentioned it. I think it sounds good!
This song evokes a rare, feel good, uncomplicated celebration feeling for me.
I started playing it on my phone while waiting for a ride at the grocery store back in 2018 or so. The lady who was walking said she heard it sometimes, but didn't know the name. I told her, and the name of the band. I'm saying that after all these years and all these miles, it still stops people in their tracks to ask about it. That's the definition of good. Thanks to all here!
One of the greatest songs, you cant help but be happy listening to this ❤
To whom ever that recorded this. I sincerely thank you ❤❤❤
My sweet, beautiful Doc passed a few months later, and he'd just broken his shoulder right before this. You know he didn't feel great, but still nailed it. He never lost that great voice. I'll be in love with him forever.
I loved this song as a kid, and still do. Thank you for sharing this.
I've searched for so long to hear this band live and to hear what I've found? Not disappointed.
Like they say, anybody who doesn't like this ain't got no soul...RIP Doc Robinson
Feel free to sing along, he says. Gawd that’s a given!
This is just simply warms my heart
May the lord be with him and family
I know this song from Hitman 👌 ohh... it's really great to see King harvest, thank you for this beautiful song.
Wow. The story behind the song is heart breaking.
I wish I was there. Sounds awesome to me.❤❤
Loved this song then. I was 12. Takes me back! These guys sound great.
I first heard this song in 1973 when I was staying by my cousins while my parent were on a trip. My older cousin and her friend took us to the mall and this song was playing in the car. I loved the song and now I always think of that time in 1973 when I hear this song. To this day, it is one of my favorites. Thank you for posting this.
Timeless legends....
great band, great show in a real good beach town on America's best lake,Ontario.
