Diresta Two Boomerang Tables
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 31 мар 2019
- These tables were designed by me and the client. The design was originally intended to be sapele wood naturally finished with a gradual bull nosed (slight rounded) edge, the reason for the thick banding. As the project progress the client wanted the tables to be white washed and more square at the edge. I tried a brush and hand rub at first but the client wanted the tables to be more white. So I resorted to a spray gloss white enamel finish. 3 coats. Sanding w 400 grit in between coats.
The grain texture showed through the paint finish The client was happy and so was I.
check out Izzy Swan for more table saw techniques like the one I used to make the table Legs!

Please Read the description before you ask questions. Thank you all for the love and support please like share and subscribe!!
jimmydiresta read the description, found out why you painted the tables, went on a pitch-fork crusade in the comments 😂
At first the description didn't load for me, so I thought this was Jimmy's April fools joke. So many questions! -> check the description -> No description!? -> What's going on!? Then I saw other people quoting the description, and I thought somehow there were a bunch of people in on it! Then I refreshed my page, and there is indeed a description. Maybe it was RUclips pranking me. Or my computer... either way, great video Jimmy, you are indeed a genius!
As others have commented, I was so disappointed when you painted the tables white. They would have looked so much better in PURPLE
I would never share or subscribe but I always thumbs down
Where's Spike, Jimmy? That cat!
Angling the legs with those asymmetric brackets was so effective, practical and beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
I like them as well and I think they will actually contribute to the stability unlike the stamped metal bases that appear on Factory produced tables
Izzy Swan would be proud. 😁
The last 2 minutes of the video.... The internal grading, the final buff, the admiring of your work... This is why we do what we do. 8 seconds on a bull doesn't compare to the 5 second rush the customer gives you when they see your work. The face, the reaction, the look. You visioned it, built it and delivered. The mistakes, the problems the injuries, the sleepless nights... for 5 seconds you are their Rock Star.. Ty Jimmy for taking us on your journey. B.
The table saw/lathe type jig...genius! That worked incredibly well and was completely different than what I was expecting! That's what separates the makers from the assembly line folks.
The angle bracket on the legs was genius! That’s got to be the best way to get the angle that you want, and have it point in the exact direction you want it to point. 🤘🏻👍🏻👊🏻✊🏻🤟🏻
The leg brackets are bloody genius. At first I thought “Why is there a bit sticking out?” Then when they were screwed in place I got it. Very clever. Cheers Jimmy.
The amount of ingenuity that is clearly visible in your videos is astonishing and so inspiring. Everything from hammering the parallel clamps sideways for leverage to the table saw "lathe" to the simple angle brackets for the legs is all so geniusly simple. Thank your for putting your work on youtube so we can all learn from it!
I understand why it was painted but I still almost cried seeing that beautiful wood being covered up great work as always though jimmy
That tablesaw-lathe-thing-jiggy is genius, I could never have thought of that.
I appreciate the reality of a transforming finish due to client needs. Would it look bomb in Walnut ply with brass face trim? Yes. Does this still look amazing and meets the client's preference? Hell yes.
What I admire the most from Diresta is the problem solving capabbilities
Oh my god. I felt like someone just kicked me in the stomach when I saw you start painting that beautiful sapele.
Rogue Cthulhu i know I know.
Every video is another lesson! Thank you Jimmy!
While watching your videos. I have seen and learned many useful, handy and dangerous tricks.
Like Jimmy said, read description. He answered my glaring issue/question. Sigh, customer is always right. Great job Jimmy.
Happy birthday Mr. DiResta!!!! 🍻📐⚒️
Nice tables, I loved seeing how you solved the sharp curve on the edge wood. 👍🏻
I'm going to pretend this video ends at 11:40. Beautiful work Jimmy. Making the legs on the tablesaw blows my mind.
Those are going to look great in the lobby of Spacely Sprockets.
Great solution for the tight bend on the edge. Excellent work.
I'm always learning something new. Thanks Jimmy.
Great project. The steam bending is awesome. Would like to see how the steam bender was made. Your band saw skills are off the charts. The table saw leg making jig is fascinating and terrifying. Thanks for the video.
Lovely shapes in that table. Clever stuff also goin into it. Love it
How you used your saw to cut the wood was just incredible, bravo Jimmy 🙌👏👏👏
Thank you for an actual build clip on April 1st.
Whoa - the table saw leg technique!!! The gluing little blocks to help adhere the edging strip!!! I learned - I learned!!
Thank you
I was blinded by the White, another Jimmy DiResta flashback to the '70s. Great video.
I wonder how many people fully understand your comment, Great one!
They turned out nice! Your screw clamp game is strong!!
Absolutely stunned by the amount of mayonnaise that goes into all of these projects.
Retro-fabulous! Very nice.
7:13 ... elegant, simple, fast...genius! You have my respect master Jimmy! 👏🏻
Get yourself an "Indexer" for your Shopbot and you'll be surprised at the avenue of creativity it opens up for you! You can program non symetrical custom carved legs in and walk away and let it carve. Another good job Jimmy
You are awesome. I just wished I had half your knowledge and experience.
Nice work, love the boomerang shape.
Brilliant and beautiful. Well done.
JimmyDiresta my Brother awesome project, I know they'll be very Happy with the final product,Keep up with this crazy and awesome projects you do, I love it to I will see you again later much love brother :)
Harikasın Diresta Reis! Hayranıyız yaptığın işlerin! Greetings from Turkey
The customer is always right!
Immediately thought of Izzy when I saw that jig on the table saw.
I did as well. Still a great idea.
A lot of really good problem solving and workflow tips in this one. Top notch.
Love the simple, quick and effective leg tapering jig. I will have to remember that one.
I guess the April Fools is putting a ton of work into this and then painting it all white! :-) Stil great work though!
He mentions this in the description
Who reads the description lol
Yeah, its what the customer wanted, but its a shame to paint over that pretty wood.
Came to say the same, however, the customer gets what the customer wants!
Awesome, I like how you can see the wood grain through the paint still. Great job!
I love my shopbot, you give me so many great ideas thanks Jimmy for being you.
Neat to see that tapering jig in action! Sawdust deflection shield was a "why didn't I think of that" moment, too.
Now those are some tables you definitely wouldn't mind if they came back!
Can’t believe they went white , awesome work man
HAHAW! It looks like Jimmys using his mind to make the glue go side to side while his hand appears stationary. Love your stuff Jimmy! Dying to see the next vlog! While my daughters groan at yet another build video, they love the vlogs❤️
Beautiful work Jimmy. So many great techniques ( leg shaping , steaming , table end curve except bottle tossing ). Love mahogany wood. Thank you for great video and happy April fools day !
Reminds me of the Jetsons, very cool. Thanks for sharing your work with us.
That's crazy. I've had a similar table top design in one of my sketchbooks for like 2 years. Along with other random nonsensical shapes for chairs and such. Excellent execution.
I need such customers !!! when they can pay 1/3 but instead they hit the roof , shame for the beautiful trim work , great job jimmy as always !!!!
The king of makers back with new idea. Fabulous build.
That’s a sharp looking finish!
GREAT work
Haaaaaa! LOVE the “Leg Splaying Brackets!” I manage to learn something new from EVERY Video JD! Much Love Brother ❤️Have A Super Week!.....Gus
Nice shout out to Izzy on the legs.
It's content like this that keeps us coming back. (Pardon the pun)
amazing solving problems aproach, congrats!
You are an amazing craftsman and a true inspiration!
I can spot Diresta craftsmanship a mile away.
Nice work brother.
Good to see my pals Brett and Taylor too.
Those brackets you made for the legs is beautiful simplicity.
Your so simple, yet brilliant. Awesome work as always
You are a mad scientist!!
And he does it again! Solid.
Great work Jimmy
Very nice work as always. The jig to 'turn' the legs on the table saw is impressive.
These are so rad! Love the way you made the ends, and the metal brackets that angle the legs 👌
Table saw lathe 🤯
Too freakin cool! I learned several new things in this video that I actually have the confidence to attempt. Thank you for this upload sir.
Jimmy's been trying to get rid of those tables for ages- every time he sells them they keep coming back...
I'm not sorry for that awful joke.
Yeah but he's sold the same tables five times now!
I like what you did there.
That's like the Aboriginal that swallowed a boomerang, he was discharged from hospital 200 times. Lol!
THIS, is why I subscribe. Beautiful work Jimmy. You are my Maker Hero, if only I had the time, space, and patience to do half as well as you. Keep up the great work. 👍👏
beautiful,just beautiful
Blinded By The Light.. of your genius.
Good job brothers
Dude mind blown! That table saw lathe thing was genius 👏👏 well played sir well played
That jig you made for the tapered turned legs was genius!
I WOULD NEVER HAVE THIOUGHT TO HAVE USED THE TABLE SAW LIKE THAT BLOODY GOOD IDEA.
Jimmy you have a gift. In my mind, your gift is the ability to take an idea and figure out a way to make it. Making them in simple ways, ways that most of use might not think about. The way you tapered the legs. You could have done that on a lathe. The jig you made, using a drill and a table saw was very cool.. The way you made the banding on the sharp corner was ingenious.
There is one thing I notice with the all your videos, the fact that you don't wear any kind of breathing protection with the exception of when you are around chemicals. Masks might not look good on camera, but the protection they provide is for the long term. Look up the major sinus surgery that Norm Abrams underwent do to all of the saw dust he inhaled. Back then masks weren't worn.
As an older person, 68, I have thought about the things I did in the past and wonder if I will pay the consequences. So far so good.
Keep up the good work. Love your videos and stay safe.
Those are great tables! 🙏🏽
WTF?! at 7:14, mind=blown. that's a serious tablesaw jig right there, jimmy...
Nice work and beautiful
Cool project!
The size of that CNC work envelope has me green with envy...of course then I'd need more shop space to house it in... Never ends! :) .
That end piece though with the band saw and clamps 👍
Those turned out nice!
We’ve come a looong way from a time when Jimmy used to say, “What’s up Fugger?”
Cheers Jimmy!
That's his brother Johnny
Yes, they have an 'Ikea' look to them now. Are they plastic? Kidding. Really lovely work, they will be well used for decades!.... Did anyone notice the chair standing at the end? Oh Jimmy don't do it! :)
Thought they would have looked good with the natural wood look. But you do what the client wants, right. They still look really good. The white gives them that 70s vibe.
ooops missed this one, Its the crazy time of year , Nice Job!!!
Thanks Jimmy!!!
Really awesome build, fun to watch; what a master.
I'm watching your PBS special right now how funny!! I feel kind of special cuz I'm subscribed to you
Wonderful work, man!!! 😊
Awesome tables Jimmy!
Awesome video. Love the jig for making the legs!! 👍👍
Great video and tables!
Amazing idea
The front counter in the principals office of my elementary school had a formica top with little boomerang shapes just like these tables randomly all over it. I spent so much time in there looking at that thing, I still have dreams about it from time to time...
There's an old school diner I frequent that has the same top. It's white with I think pink and green little boomerangs on it.
@@nathanjohansen7169 Sounds about right. I used to try and find the most "perfectly" shaped boomerang.
Nice work
Hi Jimmy !Nice work !😎👍👍
Super nice
