Having some land will give you some storage space, a place to grow food and maybe a workshop. A little cabin with a shower would be a bonus. This could give van life more options.

I think if you start seriously considering buying dirt, you might want to reach the point you can stay the 14 days in the free place first.

Hi Chrome, first time I comment. Sitting here at breakfast in Albuquerque, NM at 7:30 am. It’s beautiful, it’s cool and my backyard is heavenly. I’ve enjoyed all your travels and watch daily. I live in a state that has glorious scenery and great camping, free as well as paid sites and I’m fortunate to be able to continue those frequent camping trips here in the southwestern part of the country. I totally understand your joy of nature’s beauty. I’m also a retired teacher and worked with many students who struggled getting through. Fortunately, we have many charter schools with different curriculums that attract students with different passions. It has been one of the better moves NM has made regarding education simply because not all individuals are pen and paper oriented. It gives all kids a chance to experience success and accomplishment within their realm of need. Many success stories. 😊 Very happy for you and your success at what you do. 🌷

Tiny piece of land with a small building so you can park and work on your projects and keep traveling. The tiny building can be big enough for a bed, small frig, camping stove. Get the land close to water if not on it. The bigger the land, the bigger the taxes! It's just you and your pet😃. It's doable!!. Your best friends can join you for a place of sanctuary!

While I agree it's not a necessity to have your own peice of land and you are great at finding amazing spots to call your own for a night, you have to admit that it would be even more amazing to be able to stay in one spot more than one night. If you're not feeling well or you just want to hide without having to look for that next spot, having your own space would be the answer. Heck, you can always keep traveling and exploring but have that space that is yours too! Love ya Chrome & Cruz!

If you ever did want a piece of dirt AND continue the same thing, you can have your cake and eat it too. What you could do is buy a small piece of land, put a small garage on it equipped with a bathroom (full or just toilet & sink), live out of the van while there. That way you can still travel as much as you want, keep your home on wheels plus have a home base.

💞.... The piece of land: maybe it's not about settling or locking yourself down but rather just about having somewhere to call your own . Like finding that 'someone' to call your own - I'll know because it wont feel like I'm tied down but somehow complete... I dunno but that kind of thing. Whatever you end up doing it'll be the right thing xx

Maybe a tiny slice of land could be worth it if its a few thousand dollars or so. I don't know what its like in Canada, but if you have a remote address would your insurance be cheaper? Or vehicle registration? If you're using your downtown Vancouver post box as your address for everything you might be paying more for your vehicle. If the cost of the land is cheap enough to offset the vehicle costs then go for it.
In many places I've looked for land in America you're not allowed to live in a vehicle long term on an empty plot of land. You have to build something on it if you're going to be staying in a vehicle or RV. So its often not worth buying something even when its only a couple thousand dollars unless you want to sell it again in 10 years.

The public land isn’t free, every citizen has paid for it in a small way with a lifetime of income taxes.
But yea, you can’t go wrong with buying a plot of land, especially with record low interest rates. A plot of undeveloped land for $15k would pay for itself if you spent a few weeks a year on it. Think of what that same piece of cheap land today would be worth twenty years from now....Canada is a big country, but they aren’t making any more land.

We took the ferry from Juneau to Prince Rupert and excited the Marine Highway for the Road Highway at Rupert. Amazing adventure. Loved Rupert and all that is Canadian for that matter! Well, except for the speed signs. Couldn’t WAIT to see MPH instead of Kilometers! Am I speeding or going too slow? Lol! Anyway thanks for posting. Brings back very fond memories of Rupert. ♥️ oh and I rode my Harley through too from Anchorage to Milwaukee a couple decades later. Yeah!

I think you are a very unique individual and, along with such a cool dog as Cruz, you have found your niche. Not everyone can do what you do and are in the 9-5 category. But glad you did not listen to others and allowed yourself to find your unique way of living. I am an artist, but because I don't understand how to make it as an artist full time, I find myself doing mortgage underwriting full time(at least it's from home). But you are right, you don't need all the material things and I am obsessed watching all the you tubers doing the van life and RV life. I watch Carolyn's RV life, and I love watching Schoolie conversions. I dream about buying one and just stopping the typical 9-5 job and traveling around the country, even Canada. I think what would bother me the most is I am not a complete loner, but enjoy talking and interacting with people(to a degree). I think van lifers can take it or leave it, They are more or less loners. It looks like it would get lonely without daily interaction with people. Bob Wells, of Bob's RV life is someone who has really taken it to the next level in educating and helping people to adapt to this lifestyle. Anyways best of luck to you. Your video are so enjoyable, and having 2 bulldogs myself, I alway enjoy seeing Cruz's beautiful face.

If I had a source of income that allowed me to move anywhere then that would be great. Unfortunately, like the majority of people in my country, we are confined to one office for most of our working life so it's not practical.
For someone like yourself though who makes a living from not staying in one place for too long, it's a no brainer!

If you want to get serious about mosquito and tick repellent, I'd highly recommend thermacell. I do kayak fishing and prefer to at night. It is night and day with a thermacell compared to sprays or anything else. Of course that comes with a price and refills... I don't use it while camping in the day with nice weather. But when it is humid and stuff, its really nice to have.

If you buy land, rent it out like a campsite or use it for Van upgrades, filming etc. The Weirdos Unite Head Quarters ❤️.

Be VERY careful with the bug spray for Cruz! I’ve seen Bulldogs get allergic bumps :(

I am 64. Built an off grid cabin on five acres. Its beautiful but after talking to the trees for 5 weeks I put it up for sale. I am back at my campground.
