I worked at BFE Vintage Motorcycles and we had a similar situation when the owner retired in 2021. Took a long time to find a single buyer to take it all off our hands since it wasn’t all catalogued well
I saw a guy, Jarrod Weems, on RUclips. He’s at “Weems Motor Co” on RUclips. Builds the pre-unit Triumphs. I’m betting he would go nuts over this opportunity.
I would think the best way to sell most of it off would be to have a sale with it all in place? Then after that it would be done in one lot. You could have a certain amount of people go in at a time for viewing and removing parts they want. Just a thought, Or you could tag parts that were sold and have them removed. You could just put a set price for parts regardless of make?? I would think this would make it a bit more profitable?
No, bro. Randy is a hoarder, and a lot of what you see is the bad parts off bikes that were repaired. Good parts that may need repair but used. Plus, these bikes were worth a hundred bucks all worn out in the day as Honda and Kawasaki took over. In the 70s I'd pick these up for free or a few bucks, and when I had enough parts to put one together, I would and sell it for 600 bucks or so. When I moved in late 70s I couldn't give the remaining bikes away. No one wanted them at that time, so I gave it all to a guy like Randy who had thousands of British bikes on his farm. I don't want to offend anyone, but that whole lot is worth 20K and not much more as it sits. And you'd work for a while to pay off the 20K plus moving and storage of it all and the time to go through it all to find the gems. Marketing, shipping, and running a business on top. Whew. A young, energetic British bike enthusiast could start a business with this if he has a free barn/building at home and the focus to build up a classic bike shop or something. A fella could build a dozen bikes out of it all, nice ones for some early cash. Tough sell. What do others think it's worth to a buyer? Cheers 🇨🇦
Even if you could assemble several motorcycles out of that group, there would not be any titles for them. If several buyers from England went together and bought the entire contents of the building it might work out for them years later. Right now, all they are worth (as a group) is what the price of steel is bringing. Remember, Baxter is a collector and businessman. He will not let that collection go cheap. Whatever price he puts on it, divide by four and you might get close to the actual value. People tend to double the value of items in their mind and once comfortable with that number, they double it again (thus dived by 4) comes into play.

The work required to move , store , catalogue and sell those parts probably equals their value.
Wahoo
Randy is a shrewd businessman, but finding one buyer for all of it won't be easy....
Agreed!
Over 30 years ago...stopped by...looking for bits for my 450 " Jupiter " ..... found them in that building 😎
It's an amazing place!

@@ds9886 , to call Baxter a hoarder, I assume you know him personally? Have you ever been to his business? Just curious….
@@jamesmisener3006 do you know Randy personally? He’s made a fortune dealing in these bikes. Not sure he fits the definition of a hoarder…
