I thought that hollow point .22s were just a gimmick in my early days of shooting but soon noticed the difference. HP bullets are a lot more humane, requiring only one shot to put a jack rabbit down compared to several from a solid point.

@@stephenknecht7189Yes sir. Shoot the dang groundhog and he will fall back into the hole. A full hole is better than an empty hole is what I say. After a few days if no coyotes eat him the hole will start stinking real bad. The smell is worse than forgetting your cup of night crawlers in the back seat of your car for a week. Another reason to leaving it there is because groundhog stew isn’t very tasty. I had some and it tasted like rotten skunk meat. It doesn’t taste like chicken. And that sums it up my friend.

My buddy lives on 10 acres and he has major problems with ground squirrels and wood peckers so I'm always happy to lend a hand with pest control. I watched a few of your videos before I subscribed. Was just in the mood for fishing & hunting. Was a trapper too. Without bragging, I was pretty damn good at all of it,a farm boy from W.N.Y.
For me (I've shot comp rifle was in the military too) the .22lr is a head shot only weapon no matter what you aim it at. They are pin point accurate with just a little knowledge & some experimentation with amo. Every .22lr I've ever had put out groups of 1/2" to 1" at 50yrds benched or I did not take it into a hunt until it did. I think I have 4 right now. 5 with the .22wm . I push for smallest groups of larger bullet counts because I want consistency I can count on. No zingers you know. So 10 rounds per group . I was into varmint control on our farm, small game hunting, trapping & furbearer hunting cause fur was high in late 70's & early 80's . I was looking for ear shots at 50 to 100 yrs most always. "No noticable hole in the fur!" Taxidermists like that.
I never liked low velocity or sub sonic amo. Standard to high worked better with less drop, never liked hyper velocity either, generally in accurate compared to standard & high velocity. Older bolt guns due to rifling style & twist & semi autos dont like or even shoot sub sonic for crap. In accurate, wont work the action & animals duck it or move before it gets there on 100 yrd shot. The .22lr has great penetration due to it's small dia even though a low velocity . It knock down is not brute ,but with head shots that makes no never mind. I stay up at 40gr bullet wieght ,they are heavier most accurate in flight & more consistent producing tighter more consistent groups. In standard velocity they will go through both sides of a deer's head on a picnic table everytime from 100 yards out no matter what side or angle you shoot it from. When we butchered cattle I never saw 1 cow get back on its feet from a head shot with a .22 short even & out to 50yrds sometimes if the cow was unruly & could not be gotten in the barn. So ya just plug them & use the loader tractor with a rope. Coyotes ,coons ,wood chuck, squirrel are highly trauma resistant, designed to be kicked by deer, horses, cattle, fall from trees & hit limbs & earth or be shaken violently by brushwolf, dogs ,bears or bi cats. They shake it off most of the time enough to vanish, hole up or escape retrieval so head is only sure fire answer. Each animal has vitals in different places, so seldom is there time to hone in & hit them. They all drop from head shots so it's pretty quick to just immediately target the head on all of them. Most humane too. I have 2 ruger bolts, 1 marlin bolt & 1 marlin semi auto in .22lr. 1 ruger bolt in 22 wmag. The micro groove in the Marlins is different & dont like soft uncoated lead bullets. They like copper stuff much better of standard to high velocity. Solid round nose is most accurate by far & hollow point is needless on head shots. So mini mags & aguila super extra plus have been incredible. The bolt Rugers are new design & different micro groove than older 22s & different than the Marlins which are also much newer design than my old guns were. So the bolt rugers will throw pure lead, copper, sub, standard velocity & high in the right name brand, but sub sonic is harder to find, more expensive & animals move on you. Again, round nose has proved best, lead or copper ,standard or high velocity & cci & aguila again have been best. Tack drivers, all of them. I'm pleased with my out comes. Each weapon has a favorite style ,velocity & name brand bullet but will give me dime sized groups of 10 at 50 yards benched with a cheap 3×9 scope if it is clean & I give it what it likes. A lot of trauma resistant varmints like woodchucks, coons, badgers & coyotes will not consistently go down, stay down & be retrievable on body shots unless you step it up to a 30/30 ,.410 with deer slugs or go center fire. I watched coyotes in videos 300 yards out, take
.223 ,6.5cm,22.250,.30/06,.243,.308 .270 dead through the shoulder breaking both, hitting vitals & heart, pop up & run another 300 yrds & vanish in the sage brush for ever. Why bother, same thing ,if you can hit a apple sized heart at that range, just peck it in the head & go pick it up.

What app was he using to calculate hold over? Also is the app tailored to specific brand of scope or will it work for most all scopes?

Strelok. And yes, it can be tailored to brands and most reticles.
