I'm surprised the Teo negotiations have dragged on this long. One thing is clear: The calls for "run it back" have been countered by the reality that MLB is a business.
Muncy's defensive metrics at 2B look solid based on info at Baseball Reference and Fangraphs. You would lose a bit of range vs. Lux, but a much stronger arm, and he catches what he gets to. Plus, Muncy has said he prefers 2B defensively. Also, the Dodgers have solid MI backup / late inning defensive options in Rojas, Edman, Freeland at AAA, and even Betts with the mentioned names taking the late inning reps at SS.
Best comment so far in the media involving Teoscar comes from Blake here. "The Dodgers are not paying him for last year. They are paying him for what he can do going forward". All this "universally loved by the fans" nonsense won't likely have a significant impact on what happens. Dodger fans never even heard of Teoscar a year ago when the Dodgers found him and now he's completely indispensable. I'd like to see the Dodgers take the Teoscar money and make a strong bid for Corbin Burnes. The Dodgers are going to a six man rotation, they need great starting pitching to make that happen. Andy Pages is ready to take over for Teoscar in the outfield anyway IMO.
This is why I'm sad I missed the live show. I now have to air my responses to topics in comments to feel better... Some clapback to those who push the whole "change of scenery will make them better again" for players like Arenado: they said the same thing about Belli, and what happened in his second year with the Cubs? The numbers were where they should've been despite some nice luck in his first year with the Cubs. And then the Cubs got stuck with buyer's remorse and traded him the following off season. Change of scenery only works with hitters who are coming out of pitcher's ballparks who have the metrics behind it to back it up. Like a Teoscar, and hopefully like a Conforto. Like Blake said: it doesn't effect your hard hit rate. And why would the Cardinals trade him if they're willing to pay for most of his contract? The whole reason they want to move him is to NOT pay his contract. If you're paying 74M for Arenado AND Helsley, why not just pay Tanner Scott? Less 40man space.
With 18 Dodger pitchers hitting the IL last year, I want to see the Dodgers take some of that money that they were bidding on Juan Soto with and sign Corbin Burnes.
Another thought on LH Tanner Scott is that there are certain guys that have been on Andrew Friedman's radar for years, ala LH Blake Snell. The Dodgers were even rumored to have been the runner-up to the Padres for Scott during the 2024 trade deadline. If the Dodgers are good with the contract, years / dollars he's looking for, it might come down to whether or not Scott is looking for a guaranteed Closer job, rather than being part of a late inning 3 or 4 headed monster piece along with Treinen, Kopech, and Phillips that the Dodgers like to run out there to play the match up game.
I also wanna throw out there, because it's not mentioned almost ever, but Teoscar has an 83 sprint speed on savant for 2024. As bad as his defense is, he's not exactly slow.
@@Mr91Jmay Yes: easier scoring from first. Means there's a tool to work with too. Probably easier to improve his defense and base running if he has the speed than if he was slow.

Teo How about a 2 year / $55 million deal that can max out at $68 million over 3 years. SB: $10 M 25: $20 M 26: $20 M 27: $15 M (TO w/ $5 M BO) No Defferals Incentives for SS, AS, MVP, WS MVP, etc ... maxed at $1 million per year. This way, Teo gets the money he's looking for, and the Dodgers get a lower Team Option rate for year 3, when he could be a solid LHP platoon bat at the corners to help ease in their Top Prospect LH bats like DePaula, Rushing, and Hope, along with maybe a 2026 FA signing of Kyle Tucker.

Good show tonight guys. Thank u for introducing a new podcast to me.
1:11:06 1:12:07 Thanks so much guys! Can’t say enough how I appreciate you keeping us entertained during the offseason! STILL CHAMPS! 🏆💙
Great 4x4 show!!! Love the posse cut live shows!
Every time I watch the intro, "Man, I miss when Chris Taylor was still good." Also sucks to miss the live Thursday night show.

QUESTION How about Sherzer or Verlander on a 1 year deal?
You must be taking some strong hallucinogens! We already tried Scherzer and he was worse than a flop and Verlander has also aged out!
For backend SP options, what about former Dodgers LH Andrew Heaney or LH Alex Wood.
Another thought on LH Tanner Scott is that there are certain guys that have been on Andrew Friedman's radar for years, ala LH Blake Snell.

In addition to RH Kirby Yates, what about RH David Robertson to fill the Hudson role?

Agree with Blake's takes on Teo. No one wants another Chris Taylor situation.
Dodgers are going to make trades . The only question is what players/prospects are going where and for who ? Not to worry.

He's not absolutely necessary. In fact there is a strong possibility that he has some heavy regression in 2025.
TeOcar Hernandez also brings 🔥 Passion and Chemistry ⚗️ to the Dodgers! Not just numbers on a Spread Sheet!
I think the dodgers want to make as many deferral as possible before the league implement a new rule after the 2026 CBA 😂😂
Why not put Kiki Hernandez at second base he probably be better than Lux
Because he hits like a backup catcher
just sign Teo and go on vacation
Blake is cold blooded. No loyalty to anyone. 😂

Get rid of Gavin Lux and get back Trae Turner.

The only thing to say in favor of Trey Turner is............he sure has a pretty slide.

Bring back Walker Buehler go after Arenado get rid of lux
Yes, no, no.
Yes, hell no, if deal is too good to turn down.
Note: Muncy is ranked higher then Arenado in the two 2024 position player rankings I seen so far
