    If there was ever a tougher guy to play QB I'd say you met Hercules himself, Namath played with a beaten body that couldn't move or act near full strength and still hurled rockets 60 yards on the numbers, brilliant athlete

    Problem is most of the studies show no benefits after 40 treatments. Not much research after 80 or 120 treatments. But, I'd definitely try it. From what I'm reading, the best time to get treatment is right after, so they should treat these guys right away.

      They might not. As was said, if they do, then they admit it. Same as you never say "I'm sorry" if an accident occurs. That admits guilt and could be used against you if a lawsuit takes place. What they might do is shroud it in something else and say it's for "X" when in fact it's for concussions. This way it absolves the NFL of direct responsibility.

      @r385671 There are so many patients, data, and studies showing HBOT reversing the effects of TBIs/CTE.
      Can you imagine the Big Shield paying for their former players' HBOT treatments? No way NFL owners would pay a bill this large.
      "While in acute severe TBI, HBOT has been shown to be effective in reducing mortality,[11] Harch et al. demonstrated consistent SPECT brain imaging improvements (showing improved brain blood flow) in chronic TBI patients treated with HBOT 1.5 [12-15]. Since the original work of Drs. Neubauer and Harch, the efficacy of HBOT 1.5 in a chronic stable TBI has been well documented [16,17]. Patients with abnormal functional brain scans secondary to TBI show consistent improvement after HBOT 1.5.
      Recently, Harch et al reported dramatic improvement in a series of 15 patients treated with HBOT 1.5 in a clinical trial of military acquired TBI [18]. Functional brain scans continue to document results for HBOT 1.5 for combat related blast related TBI [19]. In two airmen with pre-injury neuropsychiatric testing and chronic stable TBI symptoms, HBOT 1.5 resulted in resolution of symptoms as well as a return to the pre-injury values for testing [20]. In a randomized controlled trial of stable severe TBI treated with HBOT 1.5 Lin et al demonstrated improvement in the Glasgow Coma Scale [21]. Rockswold has demonstrated improvement in the Glasgow Coma Scale and reduced mortality in acute TBI patients undergoing HBOT with minimal risk [22,23]. HBOT 1.5 in this group of acute patients appears safe and does not produce oxygen toxicity [24]. Other individual trials also have demonstrated the efficacy of HBOT 1.5 for chronic stable TBI [25]. A 310 patient Chinese trial demonstrated improvement clinically, in neuropsychiatric testing, as well as in functional brain imaging after HBOT 1.5 [26]. In a randomized controlled trial of 21 brain-injured adults, HBOT 1.5 resulted in improved neuropsychiatric testing for the treated group [27]."

    He hit the nail on the head with his comments... if the NFL put these chambers in their stadiums to help players heal, that would be admitting that it is still a dangerous sport that can cause near irreversible brain damage (if you wait too long to treat it). They want players, and fans for that matter, to believe that a helmet prevents any possible problems. Sad world we live in.

    • @christopherbender9794
      @christopherbender9794 5 лет назад +3

      Actually brain injuries are significantly more dangerous in adolescents than adults. As a high schooler, your brain has not fully developed and any injury is more likely to cause significant developmental issues and more dire and serious outcomes. Professional players have a much higher standard of protective equipment than high schoolers do as well.

    This is huge. This is potentially the hugest interview Joe Namath has ever given and one of the potentially most life-changing interviews Stern has done. Hyperbaric chamber dives to pull blood into the brain? Genius! I worry about the cell damage to other parts of the body but I feel mankind is up for the challenge. The alternative, like so many other solutions to American ills, won’t even be considered so we have to work with what we have.

    Another great but brief video ! It is amazing what the human body can endure and repair itself with proper treatment. However, I think it is a trade off with the NFL players, for their salaries are high, yet every time they play, they run the risk of injury. Is it worth it ? To them it is, because they are fulfilling their dream.
