I flew on an American Airlines 737 max from Las Vegas to Washington DC about a month ago. While I purchased a first class ticket I think that on most American carriers they are transitioning away from the designation “first“ and using “business” instead. The food, as with your experience, was unremarkable. There is a huge distinction between the food service on a domestic flight versus international. The flight was comfortable and quick with no issues and the cabin crew upfront was attentive and helpful.
Interesting review. I understood that AA, when taking a 737 order (at least for NGs) they stripped the interior from the factory and put in their own. Not sure if they still do that. For that reason, the seat pitch in economy class was one of the worst if not THE worst in the segment. The sky interior is VERY nice and the redone overhead bins compared to the older NGs were designed to provide more cabin room and the latches have the ability to be lifted from below or pulled from above (kind of like a rocker lever).
Flown on Jet Blue and American. Jet Blue comfortable, friendly aircrew. American seats a little tight, cabin crew played with cell phones in back of plane just about entire flight LAX-JFK.
Hot take: I found AA's Oasis'd 737 economy seats more comfortable than their 787 economy seats. Which I think says more about AA's seats in general than Oasis being not that bad.
I was on an A321 with the Oasis cabin (and I think an A320? I’m not too sure) and it wasn’t terrible. The seat wasn’t terribly cushioned, and after a few 4 hours flights my body was really feeling it, and compared to an A320 on one of my connections, which I believe came from US Airways and had not been updated yet, was a lot less comfortable. The seat was large enough, but the oasis cabin really does lack comfort in the seat itself.
Just flew business/1st class this week twice with 737-MAX. I enjoyed as both were relatively short (2.5-3h). Food was bad, but seat had good size for me (enough to stretch my legs - and Im 6 ft 2in) That was worthy the price for me. Flight entertainement is via their wifi on the phone but I always have my own.
The B737 Max cabin does look good. My problem with it, as a frequent economy traveller, and with my 187 cm (6ft 2) rugby build, is that the economy seats are simply too narrow. On a full flight, it's a constant battle with my neighbour for elbow room, and sitting at the window my other elbow is wedged against the sidewall. Welcome to a few hours of misery! So I actively avoid all B737s and will always choose an A320 flight for the extra comfort of its wider seats. A full A320 is no hardship at all.
@@andrewlarson7895 Nothing to do with the airlines. The B737 is narrower than the A320. I had one of my very best flights on this jet. I was flying from KMIA to Bonaire and it was less than 40% capcity full. I bassically had the whole aircraft to myself to do my trip report/.
People uses to dress up, it was an event. Last time we flew we had to sit spread all over the cabin. My 20yo daughter ended up in a middle seat with a guy to her left who smelled like a Yak in heat, and a woman to the right who slept and farted the entire flight. And in the overhead bin there was a 3 foot Chuckie doll.
July 2001: i had a flight going from JFK to El Salvador (SAL) with a plane change in Miami. Technically this was a domestic flight for all intents and purposes, but because my trip was a one way to an international destination, American Airlines MADE ME buy a full roundtrip tkt JFK-SAL-JFK because they wouldnt allow me to buy a one way as an american citizen. I had a little bit over $1000 on me in cash, and my ticket (the ones they MADE ME buy ended up costing $923. Needless to say, I was OUTRAGED. But of course, 20 yr old me w no experience in traveling and nobody to help me, ended up depleting a year's worth of savings in a ticket I wasnt going to use cause I was traveling BACK HOME (I had been in NY for 2 yrs working and saving money to go back to college). This incident happened a little bit over 7 weeks before 9/11, so I was still able to file a claim and make them reimburse me. It took 4 months, but they did and in December of 2001 I finally got my money back after fighting with them every single week up to October of that year. I VOWED, to NEVER IN MY LIFE set foot on an AA airplane again and till this day, I've kept my promise. I am NEVER paying a dime for an AA flight and even if for business, I rather DRIVE if possible or take a damn train, but I will NEVER give my hard earned money to those VULTURES. I hate AA and by God I wish nobody would need to fly w them every again 🙄
Was your flight itinerary really labeled First class? Just curious, as I just booked a similar route on an AA max (JFK-PUJ), a route compared to your trip, but my ticket is labeled Business and not First. Thanks!
Dan, just flew Alaska Air and loved the tablet holder vs a built in screen. An iPad let’s you bring your own content and now you don’t have to place it on the tray table wasting all that real estate. An iPad has much better screen resolution and you can use your own wireless headphones.
I'm 6'8". The new "Oasis" planes with AA are AWFUL. I break my neck everytime I try to use the restroom and usually urinate on myself. Plus my knees are bruised and numb during and after every flight

New to your channel. Only 1:30 in and you are so right. Coming back from Fairbanks AK to NYCI chose first class on delta. My reasoning is I wanted to lay down and sleep since It was a long journey and I was missing a night in my hotel to be at the airport. The experience was ok, food was delicious, I didn't get my Tumi travel case and for the upgrade price, I expected an overwhelming experience. I gave feedback to Delta and they reimbursed me the miles I used to upgrade.
Recently flew the AA 737 Max from Miami Int to SFO in Economy while on holiday in the US. ‘Twas a 6.5 hour flight and little did my parents & I know there would be no food which was quite disappointing. And the seat wasn’t to comfortable either. My back was not good when I got off. Ate lots of Biscoff & Pretzels ofc! 🙃
Why the surprise about no food? There hasn't been any meal service in coach U.S. Airlines since 9/11. (Food for sale, yes. Old fashioned hot meal, been over 20 years.)

Oh wow - I didn’t realise that American always upgrade people to fill the premium cabins. I find that very strange - I just flew business with ANA from Heathrow to Tokyo, and absolutely LOVED the fact there was only two of us in the cabin!
Airline bathrooms need an upgrade. They should be bigger and provide more head space. However, have a sneaky feeling the size is kept purposefully cramped to discourage any lingering, and certainly discourage mile high adventures. 😉
Have not flew AA for 15 years. i just flew AA Newark to Portland, first/business class. Flight attendant was amazing and flight was without a hitch, on time, decent meal and great service...mine was not a max

United Airlines 737-800 SFO - OGG, "First" / "Business" class...seats are torture devices...in economy people are packed in like sardines in a can...the price for flying to Maui I suppose. I usually choose Hawaiian Airlines but this was a return trip from Italy that we had booked on United. Thankfully the 11.5 hour B777-300 Polaris seating on UA 195 from MUC to SFO was excellent. Mahalo for the great videos!
As a frequent traveler myself, and airline pilot, I will avoid 737s at all costs. If you are larger than the average ten year old, that thing is a tight squeeze. I am 5' 8" and 174 pounds (173cm and 79kg), so one inch shorter and 24.9 pounds lighter than the average American man, and I find the 737 extremely uncomfortable. Give me an Airbus or Embraer any day. Also, a frequent flier who does not have a few movies downloaded on to their mobile device is an extremely poor planner, as many airplanes are now being delivered without IFE, and the wifi/streaming systems can be hit or miss.
My sister recently flew 1st class with American Airlines from John F. Kennedy to Jamaica recently and her flight had engine trouble which caused them to turn around, land and wasted a few of her hours. When I compare what you are saying to what I experienced flying with Emirates and with Asiana I am absolutely disgusted.
have to totally agree with what you said with the windows the MAX vs NEO is great. Flown both these year. Also totally agree that they windows are big enough for the middle seat to see. Also always love a sky interior
I feel like United's new-ish fake first class seat is also less comfortable than the older version, the old recliners are softer and easier to sleep in. Delta seems to have a great option with their newest seat though, which I hope to see you try sometime soon. There is nothing MAX about that loo, Boeing claims to be an American company but the size of their tiny toilet closet suggests otherwise - supersize it!
Have you heard of the 'banned nuts' trick? On a couple of US Airlines an announcement is made saying there is somebody with a nut allergy on board...so all passengers are banned from eating nuts of any sort. I'll try to be careful next time I get on a train, bus, appear in public etc., in case of my allergic personality....lol ;-)
I flew on the Alaska 737 Max yesterday and I agree with you about the uncomfortable seats in first class. A little padding would have been much appreciated. Also I was dismayed that the entertainment required your own device. I am not a tech savvy person and paying for wifi in first class is a ripoff.
I fly all the time on a 737 max / 9 from Honolulu to Cali and I don’t have any issues. I’m 6ft 235lbs and usually am pretty comfortable. Now I’ve only flown with southwest and their 737 so not sure of other airlines.
Ironic I’m actually flying to Jamaica in a week. I’m flying Frontier, tho and I’m happy to do so because the flight ended up being free due to some vouchers I had.
My one way flight PHL to LAX was $25 for wifi. Weigh your options carefully as depending where you are flying and how often, it's worth it to do the monthly and then cancel the subscription.
oh american....i use them so much as I am based in Miami and can say they are (on avg) very friendly and efficient; but its hard to charge their prices when you can only sometimes get great service..
Don't worry I am certain all problems with the safety of flying on 737 max have been fixed primarily during the pandemic that gave them enough time to fix it.
Thank you for alway taking us with you as I’m 45 this year and haven’t ever had a passport and now if I wanted to I would always have to have a seat that lies flat due to ill health tbh I can’t ever imagine me getting down an aisle to my seat as ima very large lady so thank you the views are beautiful amazing

Go fly business class on Virgin Australia on the 737-800. Nothing wrong with the service and the food was lovely. But the cabin felt 20 years old. I can't wait until both Virgin and Qantas upgrade their cabins to even something like this AA flight.
Since your leaving my home country Jamaica i figured you do a video explaining why Jamaican airlines always go out of service kinda like your Indian airlines problem video.
They put iPad holders on the back of the seat. I don’t like IFE screens on the seat back because a) I don’t like that there’s a camera that can see me the whole time and b) I’d prefer to use my AirPods (or other personal Bluetooth device) to watch the IFE. American’s IFE system (when you bring your own device) is actually pretty nice. And I can use AirPods to watch - with noise cancellation. The built in screens just limit your choices too much.

I had one of my very best flights on this jet. I was flying from KMIA to Bonaire and it was less than 40% capcity full. I bassically had the whole aircraft to myself to do my trip report/.
I've flown on the MAX before. I was worried, but it was surprisingly comfortable, IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT AIRLINE
Awesome tour! So inresting! Thanks for sharing! Have a great day my friend
Nice video, as always! Your videos inspire me. I want to travel the world just like you when I am older and have more time!
It’s even more tragic for those of us who remember the US Airlines from the 60s and 70s
Remember TWA's ambassador service?
@@jamiecloud1897 Yes I do! Those were the days.
Flying was so much more expensive and dangerous back then.
I find the 737 a loud uncomfortable ride. Then coupled with American cattle packing, as well as long boarding and inboarding...I try avoiding them.
Thanks!
American Airlines sells the same seat as First Class on domestic routes and Business Class on international flights ;)
Same seat sold but depends if ur domestic or international.
He sat in business
Have fun in PUJ!
Dan, just flew Alaska Air and loved the tablet holder vs a built in screen. An iPad let’s you bring your own content and now you don’t have to place it on the tray table wasting all that real estate. An iPad has much better screen resolution and you can use your own wireless headphones.
The views flying over The Bahamas are gorgeous 😍
‘The Abyss’ 😆. Thanks for another informative video, you have some of my favourite aviation ones
I'm 6'8". The new "Oasis" planes with AA are AWFUL. I break my neck everytime I try to use the restroom and usually urinate on myself. Plus my knees are bruised and numb during and after every flight
So I've been obsessed with airplanes from as long as I can remember and I love watching reviews specially about first class and business class . It's my dream to fly first class one day loool .. specially in Qatar that's my favourite airline and the food in Qatar ? Just Wow 🌝 . A few weeks ago I came across 1 of your videos and I instantly hit subscribe . I'm not the type to really subscribe to people I just give the video a like and that's about that . But I find your videos so soothing and entertaining . Like it's my free therapy 😂 I love watching your videos while eating it's like Netflix to me . I think you were taking your mom to Maldives and you mentioned how you like Qatar so much and I was like I should watch his other videos and I sat and watched like 5 💀 idk I just get great vibes from you . Keep it up 🤗
I have to agree the cabin of the 737 is much nicer as I love the bigger windows. Hate flying A320 and usually avoid those flights as much as possible.
Same
New to your channel.
In general you should avoid San Francisco
@@dawsonje Why what’s up with San Francisco ?
Why the surprise about no food? There hasn't been any meal service in coach U.S. Airlines since 9/11. (Food for sale, yes. Old fashioned hot meal, been over 20 years.)
@@photographybyrovin8769 oh man.. where to start! Honestly it’s too much for this post. Just do some research on the issues going on in SF these days, it’s truly a tragedy and shame
@@flyjet787 well, OP said they were on holiday in the country with their parents, so maybe they didn't know about it.
Nice video my friend ✈️
Oh wow - I didn’t realise that American always upgrade people to fill the premium cabins. I find that very strange - I just flew business with ANA from Heathrow to Tokyo, and absolutely LOVED the fact there was only two of us in the cabin!
That's cool, though. I've got two upcoming trip reports on AA 737's and who knows, I might also get a MAX!

Nice video my friend! ✈️
LOL! Brutal, but fair... and this is why I haven't voluntarily flown American in years.
It's not a bad plane unless you compare it to the alternatives? ROTFLMAO! I need to remember to use that myself...
Airline bathrooms need an upgrade. They should be bigger and provide more head space. However, have a sneaky feeling the size is kept purposefully cramped to discourage any lingering, and certainly discourage mile high adventures. 😉
I HATE HATE the AA new seats with zero entertainment screens. I avoid them and have started flying Delta and UA for the first time.
I think the best airline I’ve flown own is delta. I’ve only traveled North America and haven’t done any transatlantic.
Have not flew AA for 15 years. i just flew AA Newark to Portland, first/business class. Flight attendant was amazing and flight was without a hitch, on time, decent meal and great service...mine was not a max
Stopped flying AA in 1997...gave up my frequent flyer miles...only fly with Delta since and in a pinch Jet Blue because of a family member who is an executive with Jet blue.
Dan will you ever try Breeze Airways? I know their product is a bargain one and an exclusively American one, so not your usual content, but would love to hear your thoughts on their affordable offerings!
Off to the UK from 🇦🇺 in 2 days. 21 hours in the air. So interested in the differences now from 2.5 years ago. All positive though. We saved and paid for comfy seats. Enjoy your honest vids. Do love Aus’s main carrier. ✈️
Hey Nonstop Dan, you should try COPA airlines new business on the 737 MAX. One of the only seats that become flat beds on a narrow body! COPA is a Panamanian airline that flies all over america and it's a partner of Star Alliance. I'm sure you will be amazed by your experience! 😃
La mejor de América
7:39 delta has better now off cookies cause it says delta on it, not just lotus, like any regular biscoff.
I just subscribed your channel . I really enjoy watching your video . This is the first time i am commenting on any video ever . You are super awesome with the way you describe each and everything in detail. 😊
Awesome job dan

Hi Dan !! From Jamaica :)
Mahalo for the great videos!
it was the 1 dr pepper a year for me 🔥 lol i wish i had that kinda self control lol
Love ur vids ♥️
This might be a little much to ask but can you do an updated JetBlue mint??
20 seconds in: Love the premise of the video. Okay, back to the video!
You should reach out to American Airlines I bet they would give you Miles for the lack of the entertainment working
Love love love your reviews mate. Funny!!! The food review - I peed myself a little from laughter 🤣
You're on point here Dan. Nice work cutie, top form! 🙌😊
Loved this video! I can’t wait to fly the american carriers!
Everyone hates on them but they are actually good. Definitely not the worlds best, but good for your money.
@Nonstop Dan Could you do an update video on your credit cards and which one do you use the most. Also some recommendations. Thank you!
have to totally agree with what you said with the windows the MAX vs NEO is great. Flown both these year. Also totally agree that they windows are big enough for the middle seat to see. Also always love a sky interior
So this it what "Chills" looks like.
Yes, I agree that American Airlines is not very good. Flying today on United and hoping it’s better!❤️👍✈️
Hope you have a good flight Diane!
Great video Dan
You have to bring your own tablet. I flew coach on a red eye on American. Your right the seat left me with a sore back after the seat.
I flew on the Alaska 737 Max yesterday and I agree with you about the uncomfortable seats in first class. A little padding would have been much appreciated. Also I was dismayed that the entertainment required your own device. I am not a tech savvy person and paying for wifi in first class is a ripoff.
Bro that shot is epic 9:40
Great video Dan!
Nice content! Those Caribbean views
The fact that he slides a sponsor so smoothly amazes me
Just SUB’d…YAY!!! Great Review of the MAX 👌
Thanks a lot for the video
Nonstop Dan.. where you at?! It’s been a long time since we’ve had a new video 🫤
Don't worry I am certain all problems with the safety of flying on 737 max have been fixed primarily during the pandemic that gave them enough time to fix it.
Did they put you on the window seats on aisle 61 where the motor makes you deaf for about 2 weeks afterwards?
Thank you for alway taking us with you as I’m 45 this year and haven’t ever had a passport and now if I wanted to I would always have to have a seat that lies flat due to ill health tbh I can’t ever imagine me getting down an aisle to my seat as ima very large lady so thank you the views are beautiful amazing
I was gifted with a wide frame even for my six foot nothing stature. Never did fit well in economy and now that I am older and broader I dread the day I have to fly again.
Thanks!
Go fly business class on Virgin Australia on the 737-800. Nothing wrong with the service and the food was lovely. But the cabin felt 20 years old. I can't wait until both Virgin and Qantas upgrade their cabins to even something like this AA flight.
Another really cool video. I really do wish US airlines would step it up like the big international airlines. Can’t wait for the next video.
