I loved AKA.. He was madly talented and was honestly appreciated in the continent as well as home. He was relatable. I honestly don't know there were coloured people who thought he wasn't coloured enough.. Which i find unfair because they didn't consider his upbringing. He was AKA! He represented and was loved by all races! I didn't see race when i see AKA, i saw a proudly South African musician who was envied and also supported by many. A trailblazer! He was a confident man (as much as he was accused of arrogance 😂 we loved it as Megacy).
For Cape town artists or any artist anywhere in SA to make it in SA, you can be dope all you want but i believe its God's favour/anointing and of course your talent that will set you apart in life and you reach the level of AKA's stardom or exceed it (its my belief and your view is also welcomed),

Interesting perspective I have never thought about it that way... There's alot of Colour/Afrikaans rapper out there going nowhere the only reason to succeed as a musician it to sound American. And Jozy is the place to make that happen. The reason I'm u massive @younstacpt fan is, he stayed through to himself am made it without big backing or music labels and gave us a voice.... So many times we need to hear we cultureless... So our The Voice of the Cape. So many can relate to his music... Unlike all the chart toppers nowadays. I admire him for sticking it out for so long ... Making it big in the music industry is not easy

What's wrong with embracing being coloured. These are a people, a tribe. It's like being in your feelings because a Xhosa is proudly Xhosa. Come on guys. My issue will be when you don't want to associated with blackness even though its in your skin tone. That's what AKA did differently. He didn't want to other himself in the space of blackness. I wish this more from other coloureds. Regards, let's not take self appreciation from coloureds. They also deserve self love.
