    Been nearly two years since I first watched this video. The tip about using a line connected from the back of the vehicle to the stern of the kayak (which keeps the kayak from slipping away from you when you lift up the bow) was a game-changer for me! Love sharing the tips in this video with fellow kayakers --- especially the others like me who are really short (5'3") and loading 50 lb boats. Thanks again, Tony!!

    Used this loading option with a 100 lbs Big Fish 120 on a Toyota Highlander. Worked like a champ! I used my life jacket as the padding between the rear window and the cart. This saved me a fortune in transport cost. Thanks for sharing the video!

Now thanks to your tip I've saved myself some money with a cheaper trolley but I now have a super good kayak loader too. Seeing as I've saved $ I can now invest in a cradle too!

    • @masterthee
      @masterthee 2 года назад

      @@josephn1572 you really need the 2 cross bars. The side rails don’t hold the kayak up at all.
      Btw…back 2 years later, I still use this trick but I do put the top rung of the cart on the top of the car and the bottom rung on the glass. Haven’t broken my rear glass yet but I do worry every time.

    Interesting method. I used to have a Trailblazer that had no lip or antenna in the way, so I just used a rug and ran my kayak up and over. But now I have a Durango, and it has a "spoiler" that sticks out as well as a radio antenna right in the middle above the back hatch. I never thought of using my kayak cart to get the kayak up and over those obstructions. I'm going to give this a try.

    There are a lot of comments on here so I haven't looked through all of them, but isn't there a risk of the rear window breaking? I've got a 2023 RAV4. Similar setup is what you show in the picture with the overhang. I would just be worried about the kayak going through or sorry. I mean the wheels on the cart going through. My kayak is is 61 or 65 lb. Any thoughts?

    Hello, I am 65 and have 2 friends in their 70's that still go kayaking. We put the kayak inside our cars. However, I watched your video about how to put a kayak on top of the car and take it off the car, but you don't show how to strap it. I am assuming the wheels stay on the back window while traveling with the kayak to your destination. Is that ok for distracting your vision? My kayak does stick out of my car unlike my friend's cars. They can close their hatch, I cannot, I have to strap it. I would love to do what you have shown, but am not sure how I would strap it on top....and even if I could reach it to do that. Can you show how you would strap it? Thanks.
