Thank you for making this video, it's quite timely. I was looking for a good cacao fragrance and discovered about LIDGE. I didn't know it used to be popular. Well, I hunted... and finally found an OG bottle of LIDG (without the 'E' though) and it's coming tomorrow. I'm so excited. It's a blind buy but I'm excited. Do you plan to get the OG bottle?
Thanks for the honest review, L'Instant de Guerlain is a favorite of mine, I wore the EDT for a couple of years as my signature scent and still add it to my rotation. I have the EDP in the old style bottle. Not the bottle with the black border but the second pleated back bottle you showed. I like it but prefer the EDT because the EDT is less sweet. I still have a bottle of the EDT in the older pleated back bottle, which I think is so classy looking. The newer square bottle is a bottle style Guerlain used to use for its splashes. They call it the valise bottle. I have a couple valise bottles of vintage Habit Rouge EDT. The vintage Habit Rouge spray was the tall square bottle with the windowpanes. I've heard the original formulations of LIDGE were monster concentrations. But like everything else, reformulation seems to be an industry standard. But I'm glad to have the fragrance in any form. And great video!
I agree, the original bottle with the black border looks great. I haven't gotten around to trying the EDT yet. I would consider myself lucky if I had one of the earlier formulations of the EDP! I hope you protect that bottle like it deserves haha. Habit Rouge is definitely a classic. Can't say I am a huge fan of it but one of these days I may give it an objective review due to the great quality and significance
@@realscentreview I revere my old bottle of L'Instant EDP and keep it safe and dry! I haven't tried the recent formulation of Habit Rouge, only the vintage, which I think is magical. I have tried recent EDP and really don't like it, smells flat and rubber-like. It's the civet in the vitage EDT that is so skanky good, intoxicating!
@@ohfour-seven6228 well if you enjoy animalic accords, have you tried Rien Intense Incense by Etat Libre D'Orange? That's a must try for fans of Kouros, Antaeus and the like
Been wearing it since 2007. Dipped into a Caroline Herrera scent for a while. It’s reliable and I don’t really get tired of it. Got a tester for Terre D’Hermes with my last purchase. For a sports style, lemony fragrance, it’s not to offensive. It has that bitterness, but calms down to a refreshing just cut grass level. L’Instant is still my go to daily though.
I was in a local "Perfume Shop" over the weekend. They had a vintage bottle, 2014 batch code is 4T01, They wanted $220, but was able to talk them down to $180, but I had a bottle of the in between bottle (vertical rectangular bottle) I liked, but this vintage bottle is absolutely more dense. ❤❤
Only a true fan of the L'Instant line would understand and willingly pay that price! Glad you were able to talk them down - better that a true fan has the bottle than leaving it on a shelf to collect dust.
Thank you for this review. Is this new L'INSTANT HOMME better quality than the 2015 version with rectangular bottle, or is it just the packaging and the writing that has changed?
Unfortunately, the new formulations (the stuff that comes in the bottles that look like the one I review in this video) are very weak, and I've sampled probably 10 of them, all with different batch codes. The 2015 version smells similar but is just more concentrated, deeper and has better performance.
I had the original bottle, then the secondary release without the black border. Solid fragrances, I was really happy. I have just purchased the modern release and I am shocked by the performance. Projection is terrible. It feels like a skin fragrance after half hour on my skin. The originals were never like this. This is shockingly bad for an edp.
I have been "wearing" this fragance since 2006 when i xas 26yo. I agree, it has changed for 3/4 years and the new bottle. At home, kids and my wife find it less strong , durable. The note is the same but... i don't recognize MY fragance. I wrote Guerlain to expose my feeling but they answered me "it the same just the package is different" Bullshit!! . I decided to change for Habits Rouge Instinct EdP. Différent but strong. I like it
Hey bro! Great review! Do you think this fragance would be too cloying and more oriented for an "old man" or would it be a modern aroma to wear at the office? Thankss
@@jorgeloo3131 Not cloying whatsoever, because it is a very light scent. It smells classic and refined but not quite "old man". Perfect for office because nobody will smell it
Hello! I must say your vocabulary and sense of smell is impressive most men are verbaly disable. You said in another video that Un Instant de Guerlain was similar to Royal Oud, given there are many *Instant de Guerlain* which version please?
I have wore this for years and gone through a 2 bottles. I ran out recently of my 2015 bottle and I bought the new square bottle. I’m not a frag head but it smells exactly like every other bottle I have had. Maybe I’m nuts but they haven’t changed. Idk it’s my favorite
Glad you like it. I am a big fan of the scent but to me it is quite clear that the stuff in the newest bottles (as in my video) is absolutely watered down, unfortunately
Let the new bottle macerate for a year. I’ve tried this and the vintage side by side. Vintage idk y really worth it. My sample has macerated so it’s stronger.
An other great break down and great information. Its due to IFRA regulations i think they always have to change,or maybe the guy they assign for the design and marketing management his contract lasts 4-5 year 😂
So disappointed with performance compared to some other Guerlain perfumes. Possibly weakest performance from all ideal line. Shame as it’s a nice scent.

@@Alritealritealrite Amazing scent; that's undeniable.
New formulations are a waste of $ IMO
Refreshing to hear someone being honest about the strength of the new formulation

"Sorry guys, this one is only half finished. Do what you can to salvage it, but I'm off to work at Dior now. Hope you understand"
Is it similar to diptyque tempo?
No its not . Tempo is different fragrance. Had them both. I don know why are people comparing them...
Tempo is much heavier on patchouli and, imo, isn’t as refined as this.
