Transit in Whitby (February 2024)

Whitby is a town in central Durham Region, and consists of an urban southern section and a more rural northern area. The main commercial area is near the intersection of Brock St (Highway 12) and Dundas St (Highway 2) with transit service provided by both Durham Region Transit and GO Transit. Whitby GO Station is the main bus station, with frequent rail service running between Whitby and Toronto.
In 2023, Durham Region Transit lost several of its transit buses in a fire at the Oshawa Bus Garage. Several TTC buses have been leased to Durham Region on a short-term basis.
Of note, many routes in Durham Region interline and buses may be found on multiple routes over the course of the day.
