Great series so far. I'm making an SMW hack myself, but I haven't touched it in a few weeks; these videos are inspiring me to work on it a bit more. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the game!
I really like these developer commentaries because it reminds me of the old PKR text only commentary that would often go oddly in depth on different parts of stages. Always so chalked full of little hints and tips as you commentate.
Didn't the Penguin suit in NSMB wii have better water control? I feel like that would have been a better power up to add to the nsmb theme than the squirrel suit. Plus the penguin suit could freeze things which also would have been a cool thing to add rather than another flying power up.
Would you ever consider making a Super Mario World hack? It would be more limiting in some ways than Super Mario Maker, but it would be less so in other ways, including the level sizes.
I loved this world! The frog suit really does make swimming ACTUALLY FUN. ...I am holding myself back from like a 2 paragraph rant about slow water levels and how garbage it is to design a game like that.

So, you’re NOT supposed to force your brain to be creative while sleep-deprived in the middle of the night? Or else what you make at that time will be of lower quality? That is actually good to know, considering my current work schedule. As dumb as it sounds, I’ve been kicking myself for not being able to do art on my iPad after work, but then I realized that it’s completely normal to be completely unable to think straight, let alone solve creative problems, after coming home past midnight. I should just wait until morning (or afternoon, again, weird schedule). Speaking of which, I should go to bed soon so that I can come up with a less rambling comment tomorrow.
So, PKR, what'd you think of the Maverick fortress stage in this world? 16:16 Meh... 17:16 Not for jokes... so I guess you wouldn't say that you Nin-tended for this stage to be so hard.
Can you please make gameplay for Mega Man 11? I was loved with your no damage strategy to defeat lots of enemies and even more, Robot Masters and Dr. Wily
