    Smudge interview with @FoxCricket at the age of 17 he wanted to be the Best Aussie Player and now at 34 He is The G.O.A.T of Test Cricket and a Great white ball batter too What A Legend Respect @stevesmith49

    I can't think of many players who performed as well as he did when the conditions got real tough ...i think thats what stands out in his career
    You knew steve would put his hand up everytime situations got tough ..be it when he got those 3 incredible 100's in india in 2017 or the ashes of 2017 and 2019 ..add wtc final to that ..that tells u something about his quality of runs

    Smudge has been a GOAT - like all the GOATS who have played as much cricket as he his talent has had a period of waning But it might wax again. Those who bang on about the sandpaper wildly exaggerate the impact it had on the game, and ignore how many teams have engaged in ball tampering - the ICC handed out a one match ban! - and he paid for it, though many of us suspect he had to take part of the rap. The fact is he is one of the greatest enthusiasts of the game - and his enthusiasm is infectious. So for all his detractors there are so many more who love him and will never forget him in the Ashes of 2019, one of the greatest displays of a batter ever.

    This Man deserves More Respect than he is given. Every one make mistakes, ask yourselves didnt you make any of em? And to be really honest ball tampering was a very normal act in cricket a few years ago, and what Cricket Australia gave them the punishment it was really un wanted, its not that big of a crime, icc just suspended these guys for 1 match but CA banned them for a COMPLETE YEAR!

  • @whatevermate3
    @whatevermate3 9 месяцев назад +40

    I am always surprised to see the comments from Aussies, saying he will always be remembered for that one moment of indiscretion. He did pay his dues and was heavily penalized and punished in a way that no one else was and it all unfolded publicly. He cried in repentance and admitted that he was guilty and what was done, cannot be undone, I think people should cut him some slack. I would pick Ponting or the Waugh brothers and even Hayden ahead of him as the best batsman Australia has produced in the modern era, but his record speaks for itself and he is a legend without a doubt.

    Steve Smith is the greatest test batsman of all time and probably Ricky Ponting was a better batsman than Smith across tests and Odis but if we talk about only test cricket then Smith is the greatest ever and this is probably the first year where he has not performed anywhere near his level in test cricket which is absolutely normal and even if he does not get back to his best, he will still remain the greatest test batsman ever.
