Very helpful. Thank you. Hitting the track (road course) tomorrow and this is exactly what I needed.
No problemo! Have fun at the track! I'm SUPER jealous
Thanks!! I needed this!! 😂😂
You're welcome!
Im changing the interior on mine soon this will help alot! Thanks mate
No problem! Glad I could be of help!
@@VancityAudi please can you explain about getting the front seats out? I read in the comments that you have to remove the plastic from the front seat which part is this and also how do I take it off without breaking any clips. Thanks again if you can reply to this 👌
Brilliant video very helpful even in the sportback here in the UK. Was just wondering the best way to remove the fronts as I was looking to replace them with sparco qrt grid q seats / 4 point harnesses.
Already taken back seats/trim/equipment out as well as lightweight forged wheels. Was just looking to swap front seats and swap battery for an odyssey pc925 and weight reduction for me is complete😝
Thank you very much! The front seats are WAY easier then the rears to remove. 4 x 10mm torx bolts are all that are holding the front two seats down. Slide the seats all the way back and you can do the front two bolts. Then slide the seat all the way to the front and jack the seat up as high as it will go. This will enable you to get to the rear bolts. Let me know if you have any questions!
Oh ya, and don't forget to disconnect all the plugs under the seat before you try and lift out the chair.
@@VancityAudi thanks for the tips but I'm sorry to be a noob, the wiring was it just the plugs and holders? Didn't have to remove plastic trim to access any of the plugs? Because I attempted the bolts which were fine. Undone a couple of the plugs but there seem to be a wire leading to the side. 🤔
@@TC-db5fm Crap, it's been a while, sorry. Yes, there is a plastic cover with one or two plastic snaps that need to be popped out before you can get to the plugs. Once you've removed the plastic snaps and cover there are I think 4 plugs that you simply have to 'unclick' and pull out. When you do this your airbag lights will all turn on when you start the car again. When you plug your original seats back in you'll have to clear all the codes for the airbags lights to all go off.
@@VancityAudi perfect dude! Made my day that was literally the last stumbling block for me. I saw a rivet head and didn't want to chance it but I'll have a go. Should be roughly 41 kg off just with the seat swap for grid qs 👍u on the dragy app?
Abit of info, in EU my 2018 have some cable going to the seatbelt holder that need to be removed, only ”fault” you get after remiving the cable and seatbelt holder is that the car thinks some one is belted/sitting there there.
For which seat? I touched on this when removing the driver's seat in this video: ruclips.net/video/Tq7GK3rpAss/видео.html
@@VancityAudi The biger backrest when you need to remove the seatbelt holder to remove the backrest.
@@Merlinen82 yup, that's certainly different than the North American models
What happens if I unplug the two clips that go to the seat belts will that leave a light on
Yes, I believe it will
Got a video of the front seat removal?
The best I have is this: ruclips.net/video/Tq7GK3rpAss/видео.htmlsi=oI3zM3w7n5MUbTlm
This video is spot on 👍👍.. thanks
No problemo! Glad I could be of assistance.
Need help gettin the bolt out for the torque screw, it’s stuck in there I would need electric screw driver
any chance you'd want to remake this video with proper lighting? Having a very tough time seeing things :) Thanks for the help!
Turn up the brightness on your phone then, haha. This was the 2nd video I ever made where I did something other than 1/4 mile drag race, lol. I was learning and certainly lacked in the lighting department. I won't be putting the seats back in to re-do this video, sorry bud. Hope you manage to figure it out!
@@VancityAudi no problem :) thanks!
Nice vid - thx! How about a front seat removal video?
Thank you! I will do that video too once I get my car back from the shop. It is unbelievably easy though. Just 4 bolts and disconnect the plugs, done.
@@VancityAudi It's always good to know the bolt size ahead of time etc. Thanks for doing this. Typically what did you see as improvement in 1/4 ET and MPH with just the rears removed or front + rear?
@@M54GRRR No problem. Half way through last season I was 10.8 @ 128mph full weight. With all my seats out and a better DA I ran 10.6 @ 130mph. The general rule of thumb is for every 100lbs you drop your ET drops .1 seconds.
Keep it up 🙏
Will do!
How much weight you loss with back seat remove
🤣 Helps if you actually watch the video before you ask questions. I literally cover that within the first 30 seconds of the video
Can you please tell me, at 7:21, which of those two access holes are for the Haldex? I am surprised to see two of them. What is the other one for?
Neither of those are for the haldex. One is for the low pressure fuel pump. I'm not sure what the other is for.
You know if the sportback version audi a3 rear seats fit the sedan version?
I don't, sorry.
How muhc of a difference does this actually make performance wise?
Huge. It's not perfectly accurate by any means, but if you removed 100lbs from your car that should technically equal a tenth in the 1/4 mile. This could change your 10.0 car to a 9 second car.
I got a 2020 A3 apr stage 3 dtr6054 turbo. I should be 443hp and 407tq according to my tune with EuroFed. Any idea what weight reduction could do for me?
@OneSlowQuattro that's what they told you you're making? Or that's what the website says you're making? If you really want to find out what you run in the 1/4 mile, do a couple runs. Then remove those interior pieces and immediately do another couple runs. You'll see the difference.
and what's the weight of the front seat?
Around 60lbs
can you buy that rear cushion? mine only has 8000 miles and there's 3 cracks on the seat already and nobody sits there :(
Mine aren't for sale, but I'm sure there are some available from crashed RS3's where you live
@@VancityAudi oh yeah I'll try that. ty! what year is your rs3?
2018
What size is the torx bit for the rear seat?
T30
what's the total weight saving?
Around 70lbs for everything
