Thank you for the informative review. I just picked up a 75 inch model of this TV in Best Buy and while the contrast and color and brightness "pop" are there, truth be told, I am a bit disappointed in quality control. It has 5 dead pixels and a lot of DSE (which you mentioned in your review) that is very noticeable on any light background. I am exchanging it for the same model in a few days and hopefully will get a good quality one. Still I can't help but feel let down since this is a flagship model and I never had issues like that with my high end Sony TVs before...
Fantastic and most fair review on the Q9-FN. The fact that it's considerably better then the Z9D and Z9F, I will replace my Z9D with the Q9-FN next year if I don't see a display that incorporates hdmi 2.1.

I think it would have made much better sense to compare the 65" Q9FN to the 65" Q8FN which has more zones to work with (by about 200 more). The 65" Q8FN model have a stronger local dimming feature than its 55" counterpart
jrzez That's my opinion about this TV, it's clearly great for gaming, but when it comes to watching movies I think it's an underperformer, and doesn't represent value for money.
I don't no why someone should divide between Gaming and Movies. I don't want dissapearing details in dark scenes in games neither. Dividing in consuming only bright media and everything else, makes more sense to me.
I'm surprised that the HDR brightness in a real scene is relatively low. The XE93/X930E measured over 1400 nits in the real scene test and is a lot cheaper (though getting hard to find now, and Sony didn't bother to replace it this year).
Love the review as it has all top sets to compare with.i I would request if you could perhaps play more 4k content like same 4k blu ray content to all sets and do a side by side comparison or even still shots and we have a better idea of black levels and contrast.thanks
Congrats Rting. Saying the LG C8 OLED has potential or possibility to develope screen Burn In's. And if you want Piece of Mind, need Piece of Mind___ then go with the Q9FN.
Hi, thank you very much for the complete analysis of this TV. I want to know if you will do the analysis of the curved version of Q8, that is, the 2018 Q8CN. Thank in advance.
Hey there! :) Great review! I need a bit of help. I'm planning to buy a new TV, and after watching many of your reviews and after many hours of research, I got stuck between the Q9FN 75" model from 2018 and the Q70R 82" model from 2019. Which one would you recommend for mixed use? In mixed I mean, mainly for HDR movies/gaming and SDR Movies/gaming. Gaming from both console and PC. I don't watch TV nor any sports, so those aren't important. Your or anyone's help is greatly appreciated. :)
It is amazing the deep blacks and brightness this tv pops!!! I can't imagine getting better than this. Right now I'm playing call of duty ww2 and I feel no input lag and I'm playing in 4k. It also has more then 1 game mode which I dont think he covered in the vid to much you have 1 regular game mode then u have another that gives u the dynamic range quality without watering down ur game speed of color gamit dude this tv is so badass I could keep going..... if you have after tax 4117 bucks I'd say it's a must buy I got the tv brand new for 1700 my friend works at best buy and gave me his 65 percent off valchure since he is a Sony guy but even if I didnt get it I would pay the 4k price tag
Glad you're happy with your overpriced tech. The TV gets smashed by sets cheaper than it. The price you paid for that soundbar set up you could've got a legit surround sound that smokes that Sonos. If you like it though, that's your money, good luck with it.

The entire screen will light when the subtitle are on the screen, then will dim the entire screen when the subtitle goes. Can you test or demonstrate that. Thank you!
. I love the videos you do and have watched nearly all of them. I am buying a tv this week and am so torn between the 65b8 and 65q9fn. So torn! I do have quite a bit of light in the lounge and when I’m at work the Mrs and kids watch news and kids tv hence worried about burn. I do play fifa a bit and watch sky sports news. Main watching is football and movies and tv after that. Worried d about burn and also think the Samsung no matched the OLED and is brighter and could last longer with no burn worry. I will have to pay 450 more for the Samsung! Please help. I need it to last at least 3 or 4 years at this money. Should I get the Q9FN or the b6?
Do reviews philips and panasonic! Do you have everything on the site in the US, is it really so difficult to bring 2 flagship TVs from Europe? Yes, you have great reviews but!
I had a Philips on trail, but send it back. 55PUS8503. The screen washed out to grey very quickly when viewed from an angle. Even from the sweet spot 4 meters out, black letterbox bars were greenish & blueish grey. My 12 year old Samsung rear projection TV was even better! Inputs worked inconsistantly, and the DVB-T tuner was almost absent. Not a single channel, I only caught 3 small blips, while my current LG shows them all without any hickups. Sure I´ll get some burn ins, and the screen is very reflective. The Samsung Q9FN is probably a better choice in those regards, but not perfect either.
If I had to choose between these 2 televisions (Samsung Q9FN 2018 vs Sony X9305E) which one would you choose and why, which is the perfect one for you. Thank you so much
I saw the Sony AF8 on the weekend and it looked amazing ! Their video really sells the TV, i also tried some 1080p video from my memory stick which also looked great. Heres my problem the LG C7 65" is £2499 & the Sony 65" is £3299 - arrhh which one do i buy ?

If you play games or watch sports i'd avoid those tv's and they have terrible uniformity. Just returned the Q8fn which had amazing picture but the DSE made sports and gaming impossible to enjoy.
Santos Hernandez I dont have the numbers and measurements but in my review of the tcl R6 I share my user experience. ruclips.net/video/QMRjiNn2RuA/видео.html
Struggling to know which to go with: Sony 85 inch 900F vs Samsung Q9FN 75 inch. Distance away from t.v. will be about 14 feet. Goal is to have a more cinema feel and use for gaming/computer monitor. Any thoughts?
LG and Sony both have a feature on their tv’s called pixelshifting or something. If you turn that featuere on their OLED tv’s wont have a problem anymore with burn-in. If your OLED is burned in they also a feature to make it less burned in. I’ve never tested these features myself but people say it really works.
No, it doesn't fully solve burn in though they can help mitigate it. Unfortunately if you look at the rtings long term burn in test (though bought 6 LG OLEDs to run in a 20 hour a day test for many weeks now testing burn in on multiple content, including using the tools to help fix it) you'll see that certain context is really prone to burn in and also a lot of it is panel variation. You can just get unlucky and get a panel with a higher chance of burn in (but won't know it until much later of course). The problem is the "O" in OLED, organic. They age and if they age unevenly then you get what is called burn in. It's not fixable at that point.
can you suggest a good flush close to wall wall mount for this TV. reg the no gap wall mount people are commenting that is too light weight and it cannot properly handle the weight of the large tv and causing a little gap and a slight tilt.can you suggest a good wall mount for this TV please?
is happening this with my samsung q70r 2019. I'm thinking of picking up the sony x950g or go for the q9fn 2018 ... because really the picture is higher than the q9fn
psykosonikwarrior just watched Vincent's review. Z9D is still better in alot of things. Has bit higher inputlag but in his video the image looked better in alot of cases
Why didn’t he talk about the HDR pq eqtf Problems which fakes vivid HDR by boosting the curve and loosing highlights and details. HDR content is not displayed like Creators intended, and it’s not fixable (currently)... plus there are SDR Color Volume undersaturation issues....
Im searching for 55inch tv, in my country there are no 55 q9fn and no q8fn (only q8cn) so which better between c8 and x900F based on price vs performance?
My dream future proof tv->>>> samsung brand, sony design or vise versa, maybe an lg panel, all panels should be pre tested for uniformity. oled/qled hybrid, where u can toggle off the backlight for oled usage, for those deep blacks, make sure it has direct lit backlight when in qled mode, (like an oled on off mode or maybe even micro dot technology) hdr10+ with around 750 nits in oled mode/1300 peak brightness in q led mode, pixel shifter adjust for screen protection, with also an ai technology to sense when burn in is a higher risk, or at least a gui warning where u can even check when the tv reaches a certain temperature or whatever causes burn in, and the tv auto switches to qled mode or micro dot technology, (maybe have over ride function for people who do not care lol), dolby vision support, dolby atmos, smooth motion technology of the sony a9f, and running sony style android system, because lets face it, most of us have android phones, the tech is getting better for synchronization. Free sync tech for 24hz movie content, bfi options, pre callibration for movies, day and night custom, dynamic modes with auto game mode detection, with over ride setting, and game mode custom function. 4 usb out, 4 usb in, micro sd card slots, or like a one connect box with chromecast and apple tv built in, With a fairly sleek design, maybe a glasstic finish, make it in 55 inch!!!!!, with low input lag, priced at 2500 usd rrp. Maybe 2000 or something at best buy. They would sell sooooo many tvs!!!! Like sooo many!!!!! Its crazy to me they keep making 65 inch and 75 inch tvs, unless ur rich with a big room. Its a bit of a waste! If someone couod make this tv. Somehow. It would be the best tv ever made, for the average consumer.
Does anyone know what Samsung tv (55" flat) is equal to or a little better than the KS8000? Removalists scratched the screen in a house move and we need to get it replaced. - I don't want HDR movie watching to be lesser in quality. Thanks!
I purchased a Q7fn 65 inch brand new for $1200 after taxes from amazon, should I exchange it for this Q9FN? When Black Friday and cyber comes I know the Q9FN will be around the same price I paid for the Q7FN or even less. I also really want a Sony but that android interface is a big no for me! That’s the only thing keeping me away from Sony tvs, I heard the TVs are great overall, but the whole android thing is bad
Try reviewing 2018 LG OLED55E8PUA oled tv as well other models which be sold and currently being sold and will be sold and what better last years model or this year models with new processor known as Alpha 9 and alpha 7 they call it A9 and A7 for short please review them because many others already have.
Regino Rojas Especially when it looks like more and more UHD movies use Dolby Vision (the matrix, saving private ryan, braveheart, gladiator and more). Thanks to DV dark scenes are brighter and show more shadow details (especially on on entry level HDTV). But some tv like LG C8 also use dynamig tone mapping for HDR10 content and the end result looks very close compared to DV.
@Rtings.com Guys, the question. Which is better to choose. 75Q7FN or 65Q9? I get more pleasure from the 9 series, or I can safely take a larger size and under normal use the difference will not be so noticeable. Thanks.

Santos Hernandez they said they ordered one. They are hard to get right now. My Best Buy order isn’t coming until May 28th
Michelle Alexandria thanks for the info, i guess that tv is better than i thought, but i would still love to see it reviewed by them.
Santos Hernandez I dont have the numbers and measurements but in my review of the tcl R6 I share my user experience.

Is this better than the 2016 model ks9500 and ks9800?
Struggling to know which to go with: Sony 85 inch 900F vs Samsung Q9FN 75 inch. Distance away from t.v. will be about 14 feet. Goal is to have a more cinema feel and use for gaming/computer monitor. Any thoughts?
Dustin Berthold Sony x940e would be the best choice.
According Vicente Theo from HTVtest, the Z9D is better than the QF9N.
Hugo Oliveira HA HA ! That Vincy is a Samsung hater lol
Henry Choo You don't know what you are telling!! Vicent is a professional calibrator and he only says what is fact
This is a full array LED tv, why is it referred to in the video/description as LCD?
ubZ Corleone its LCD
Little different than Vincent's review yes? Z9D still king according to him.
If I was to buy a tv for gaming it would be this one though. Hands down at the moment. Not interested in the Nvidia.
Very good!! But, Is the QF9N better than the Z9D?
Hugo Oliveira the android OS es bad on TV I love it on nvidia shield but tv is really bad
Yes it's better
Hugo Oliveira Z9D has HDR Movie score 8.7 the same as the SS Q9.
OLED's has HDR Movie score 9.1
Irrelevant while OLED exists. "Is this the best inferior technology equipped TV on the market?" Perhaps.
jrzez But what do you think about "burn in" and the low bright compared to the led tvs?
Where in the menu is the ' HDMI UHD Color' selected ?
Why you don't include Sony 930e to your comparison? Even you must replace it with the 900 because it is too old
When using VRR or 120 framerates, is HDR still enabled or is that functionality lost?
Hey guys
Can you recommend the Q9FN especially to watch soccer games ? I hate it sooo much when the ball ⚽️ blur or disappears sometimes
is happening this with my samsung q70r 2019. I'm thinking of picking up the sony x950g or go for the q9fn 2018 ... because really the picture is higher than the q9fn
Hi there,
What is the best budget tv for watching football mainly?
I have a samsung js8005, is the Q9FN worth the upgrade??
Måns Rasmusson heck yeah it is
Compared to Z9D?
psykosonikwarrior just watched Vincent's review. Z9D is still better in alot of things. Has bit higher inputlag but in his video the image looked better in alot of cases
Hello guys ... does anyone know whether there is a difference between the European and American versions of the 2018 Q9FN ? Thank you
Great information thanks
The Q9fn is available in 55 inches as well. Is it not?
MissTangshan95 Yes, but only in Europe.
Why didn’t he talk about the HDR pq eqtf Problems which fakes vivid HDR by boosting the curve and loosing highlights and details. HDR content is not displayed like Creators intended, and it’s not fixable (currently)... plus there are SDR Color Volume undersaturation issues....
Will you guys review the Hisense H9E plus?
Could you do a video review on Q7FN, please.
Wish they released a 55 inch version and a lower price point
Just buy an OLED and get a better TV at the size you want, with a superior picture.
We have 55inch version in Europe. :)
Can you retest some aspects with the latest 12XX Firmware?
Would buy this for gaming if it was available in 43 inch
Does anyone know what Samsung tv (55" flat) is equal to or a little better than the KS8000? Removalists scratched the screen in a house move and we need to get it replaced. - I don't want HDR movie watching to be lesser in quality. Thanks!
So a18.5 input lag on X90j its good for play games
Color banding in videogames on this tv? Q9fn
Is this TV support HDMI 2.1?
Very nice TV! Would get it hands down if only it had Dolby Vision 😞
Regino Rojas it has HDR+
Regino Rojas with QLED colors no need for DOLBY VISION my opinion only
Regino Rojas Especially when it looks like more and more UHD movies use Dolby Vision (the matrix, saving private ryan, braveheart, gladiator and more). Thanks to DV dark scenes are brighter and show more shadow details (especially on on entry level HDTV). But some tv like LG C8 also use dynamig tone mapping for HDR10 content and the end result looks very close compared to DV.
@Rtings.com
Guys, the question. Which is better to choose. 75Q7FN or 65Q9? I get more pleasure from the 9 series, or I can safely take a larger size and under normal use the difference will not be so noticeable. Thanks.
Why is Q9's BFI so bad compared to Q8?
You guys should review phones too.
Attention: The Q8 in Europe has no FALD. It has the same cheap edge lit than the Q7.
