    Where is Vietnam, Vietnam should also be in here.
    In Vietnam, "Chinese characters" we call it "Hán tự" or "chữ Hán".

      Thanks for the suggestion! I intend to make a video solely focused on Vietnam, since its history is a bit more complicated.

    Some traditional characters already had a simplified form as part of the cursive script way before the 50s. They were just incorporated into formal simplified characters along with some new ones devised by the officials.

      Yes, thanks for pointing that out! I mentioned that throughout the millennia they made simplifications, but did not elaborate on that

      Interesting comment! The original script of this video had Vietnam. I decided to leave it out due to it being the longest and most complex part due to its long (and troublesome) history with Chinese domain and later Western domain. Their writing is also has one of the most interesting history! I'd love to talk separately about them in the future 😁

    It's Oriental characters not Chinese characters. It was invented by the Dongyi people who are ancestors of Koreans. It does not belong to Han Chinese.

      @oracleoftheorient  8 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, you're right. Many great discoveries of humanity end up with a incoherent name. It's called the Stigler's Law of Eponymy - Pythagoras' Theorem was not invented by Pythagoras, the Roman Alphabet was not invented by the romans and so on. In the end the Han took the characters to be theirs, so that the Japanese and Korean also call them the "Han characters".

      @@oracleoftheorientHe is totally wrong. International scholars acknowledge that the Chinese people invented Chinese characters, and the Dongyi ppl are one of the important ancestors of the Chinese people. Korea's historical status is very low,. Current Korean nationalists had to fabricated many lies, claiming that many things originating from China were invented by Koreans,just for satisfying the poor national self-confidence
