    I love this definition...
    The Hebrew word anavah is what we translate as “humility,” but the literal definition of anavah is to occupy your God-given space in the world-to not overestimate yourself or your abilities, but to not underestimate them either.

    Thank you so much for doing this video. When I was a new believer I thought I had to put on that passive behaviors and boy did God break me of that! Now humility in my life looks more like speaking truth when the wicked try to oppress. Using meekness and strength of Gods word I stand firm in love and truth in a circumstance and not in acting humble, spineless and weak. When we act weak, we get devoured by our enemies which is a bad witness of our Lord.

    Since following Jesus, I've been seeing how easily pride comes into my life whether it's thinking I know more than my brother or feeling good about not making mistakes other make. I've been pointing out whenever these feelings/thoughts came up and working to stay humble, I don't know everything and don't need to point out I know more than someone else or prove to be better.
    You explain well and pray that God help others who also struggle with pride and that we humble ourselves more.

      @@amyrenee1361 But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him. When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
      Matthew 3:15‭-‬17 NKJV
      Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ” Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ ”

      @@McSmurfyI'm dealing with this right now! I gotta figure out how to knock myself down. 😖😔I don't point them out to others but just having the thought of being better than because I don't do the things I see others doing...I feel like God hears those thoughts therefore I still feel convicted

    • @McSmurfy
      @McSmurfy Год назад +1

      @@MissMcD Don't worry because since the time of posting the comment, this is easier now but the biggest thing is to identify the pride coming in an stopping it. Since doing this I've been more aware of my thoughts and everytime I take it and give it to God, then when I pray I ask to stay humble. Then the other step when talking with someone, is I first think that person might know more than me and secondly remind myself that Jesus never would feel better than others for knowing something others do not.
      I hope this might help and will pray for you to overcome this too, because it's something that's gotten in the way or caused problems with people in my life previously (sometimes me included).

I can no longer be around people who claim Jesus yet deliberately go against Him even when they know it's wrong, and not say anything. I always try to speak humbly and out of kindness (if I even have the boldness to at that time 🤦 it's hard lol) and I get looked down on. But I know I just need to keep following what Jesus says no matter what. Be bold for Him, even if it's hard with family. I'm learning how to stop people pleasing and please Him instead ❤️ you got this!

    The problem with humility that needs to be addressed. The nations are abusive along with the churches, Christians and different people are abusive not only that, but predatory towards the humble and those that embrace humility. You get treated like the lowest of the low. Also God showed me in 2003 I use to pray and cry to God, that I was not humble enough and then He showed me that my life makes and keeps me humble to the point, you don't even know that you are. He also showed me there is a false humility that is just plain awful and gave to me not to embrace it or go after it, but to stand against it. That was ages ago, For me because I also embrace honesty, and at present, I am dealing with communication and being able to give a true witness and be totally honest, and if I can't be that about my self, then I certainly can't be that with God and others. And some people automatically accuse you of being arrogant and conceited, when in truth you are being honest and you don't want to be a false witness. God makes the humble deal with the pride, arrogant, conceited, and the list goes on. Sometimes its hard to get the help you need, or to have any relationship with anyone, because you put yourself last, or everyone puts you last, not only you but also your nation. I would like people to stop treating the humble like garbage and if we need help, then you need to listen and help, particularly in this current climate when there is all this wipe out going on. So for me I don't aim for the heights, I love the truth when God lowers His ear to hear the earth, or wisdom bows her ear to hear the earth, and I would love it if a whole bunch of people lowered there ear to listen, it would make everything a whole bunch better. My humility I embrace and was gifted with, is not humble so we can get something, or be in the high and lofty, that is awful, we don't embrace if you are humble God will do this and that, no you are humble because you value being humble, you submit, because you value submission its different, and you need to repent, because what you are saying about humility and how to be humble is awful and its false.

    I think Eliab was right. David’s Goliath situation was rooted in David’s view of his own ability based on his résumé with the lion and bear. Maybe Goliath was there to execute the judgement God had vowed for the house of Saul. David’s life went down from that victory on for nearly 2 decades. The difference between David the boy and David the man is that as a man, He never entered a battle without enquiring from the Lord both whether he in the battle and what strategy to use if he does. . He never used a previous victory as a reason to think he can do it. Now the arrogant boy became the humble man and king. Just another twist to the story to consider. 😉

    What I’ve noticed in people is if you say something with pure intention and they themselves are unfamiliar with having pure intentions, they’ll assume you’re saying it in a way they understand - in this case, a prideful person can only comprehend a true humble statement in a prideful way because they themselves don’t understand humility. My whole life, my peers assumed I was “fake” because I always made an effort to be kind to them. I learned that they themselves are unfamiliar with the level of kindness I gave and thus were never able to take my intentions for what they were. I was hurt a lot growing up because of this, but the Lord really strengthened me over the years 🩷

    Yeah I relate!! I think truly fearing the lord above all else, this can come across as thinking I'm too special to follow social rules or norms. It's not my intention at all. I'm terrified for this world--for my family, myself and others of what doing the wrong things will lead to, of destruction and ruin, above the world's opinion or what someone thinks of me---and if heaven forbid i'm doing something thats going to hurt me and put others at risk, and I can't see it, I would want someone on earth to be courageous enough to tell me too.

    A lot of humility is about keeping our eyes on Jesus and not caring about how you look to others. As long as you know your heart is pure before the Lord and you are have a grounded view of yourself in relation to God, regardless of what your natural demeanor is, charismatic or unassuming, it doesn't matter. Just because your charisma may betray a sense of arrogance to the insecure doesn't mean that you are arrogant. It's about your heart. Just because your softer demeanor may betray a sense of cowardice, weakness and false humility doesn't mean you are weak or spineless or a people pleaser. It's about your heart. So as long as you know your heart is right, who cares what others think?

    I'm not sure about being conceded, when I was younger I was considered that by just a few people, they said they were scared to approach me, but from a very young age and even down a days, I've been called weak, a door mat, and I need to do this or that. But I'm just fine, but people in my life are telling me I'm weak and not standing up for myself. I don't get it.

    You can see the love of God formed in Paul when he says I wish that I could be cut off that the Jewish people would know Jesus as messiah. That is the heart of Jesus. Wow!! Great teaching man of God.

    No, humility couldn't possibly be mistaken for arrogance. ONLY those who are not of understanding would think that.
    When in actuality, using David as an example, humility equates to confidence in the LORD.
    WHEN YOU ARE HUMBLED AND CONTINUOUSLY WALK IN HUMILITY FOR THE MOST HIGH... YOU WILL EXUDE CONFIDENCE THAT THE ENEMY CANT COMPREHEND.
    Because that confidence is in the MOST HIGH Himself. (Hebrews 11:6).

      Remember that Jesus Himself was seen as arrogant by the scribes and Pharisees, and yet He was perfect in His humility. Watch the full video for more examples, it’s a beautiful teaching.

      @jareya Nowhere in the Bible does it state that Jesus was arrogant or seen as arrogant.
      I don't care how beautiful the teaching is. If it isn't biblical, I'm calling the teacher out on it.
      That's the problem, yall are so wrapped up in how "beautiful" a sermon is that you don't search the sceipture for yourself.

      @@jareya To go one step further, it does state in the Bible that the Pharisees and Sadducees were JEALOUS of Him.

    • @jareya
      @jareya Год назад +2

      @@AHAYAHSDaughter40 Of course Jesus is not and was never arrogant. I never said that was stated anywhere in the Bible. in fact, I said He was perfectly humble. But He was *wrongly* perceived by some as arrogant, and the point of this teaching by Mr Bevere is that true humility can be misinterpreted as arrogance. Please read John 8:13, Mark 2:6-7, John 6:41-42, etc. God bless you.

      Thank you …. I was thinking how can humility be confuse with arrogance (haughtiness/proud). Arrogance boasts, arrogance escapes accountability, arrogance is loud false confidence. If you’re truly born again with discernment, from the Holy Spirit you’ll never confuse the two, God is not the author of confusion. See why we must read the Bible for ourself

    classic case of projection by Elab. happens all the time.
    and funny enough, it happens a lot with really any accusation. its merely a projection from themselves onto others

    The story of the Israelites entering the Promised land, I felt was more about trusting God and believing than anything else. The 10 saying, "no, there are giants there, they will kill us" didn't trust God's ability to protect them, whereas Joshua and Caleb took God at His word. If God says go, we will be victorious; God was angry about that and the Israelites did not enter the Promised land until that whole generation of nay-sayers had died, ("40" yrs). Then Caleb and Joshua led the Israelites into the Promised land and they entered victoriously.
