Thank you so much for doing this video. When I was a new believer I thought I had to put on that passive behaviors and boy did God break me of that! Now humility in my life looks more like speaking truth when the wicked try to oppress. Using meekness and strength of Gods word I stand firm in love and truth in a circumstance and not in acting humble, spineless and weak. When we act weak, we get devoured by our enemies which is a bad witness of our Lord.
Love how he brings out the timeline in Paul’s ministry - least of the apostles to saints to sinners - in his reaching the heart of God in humility! I’d never seen it in the progression like that before! So good!
John I’m so happy to have come across your videos. I’ve had one foot in the Christian life and one in the world. I’ve been reading your book The Awe of God and reading the Bible, praying and confessing. The Lord truly is changing me day by day I have to admit it hasn’t been easy. We need to hear more preaching of the Word as you, through the Holy Spirit, are doing. I look forward to getting more of your books. Thank you and God bless you sir 🙏
Since following Jesus, I've been seeing how easily pride comes into my life whether it's thinking I know more than my brother or feeling good about not making mistakes other make. I've been pointing out whenever these feelings/thoughts came up and working to stay humble, I don't know everything and don't need to point out I know more than someone else or prove to be better. You explain well and pray that God help others who also struggle with pride and that we humble ourselves more.
God bless you for sharing your honest testimony, many times though filled with various different type of pride instead of admitting one would deflect or justify it. I rarely here this thou. 🙏

@@MissMcD Don't worry because since the time of posting the comment, this is easier now but the biggest thing is to identify the pride coming in an stopping it. Since doing this I've been more aware of my thoughts and everytime I take it and give it to God, then when I pray I ask to stay humble. Then the other step when talking with someone, is I first think that person might know more than me and secondly remind myself that Jesus never would feel better than others for knowing something others do not. I hope this might help and will pray for you to overcome this too, because it's something that's gotten in the way or caused problems with people in my life previously (sometimes me included).
Mazel Tov. Thank you John. Very well spoken and presented. A most timely encounter here. May YHVH open doors for this message to reach all He chooses in Messiah Yeshua. Shalom.
I’ve been saying this lately! I’m doing a study on John eight, and the Pharisees were so offended by the confidence that Jesus had! They accused him of what they are. But he was simply telling the truth.
So refreshing I’ve been accused of arrogance so many times but God is always silencing those who are truly the arrogant ones. Whenever I was arrogant the Lord rebuked me But whenever I was humble the church rebuked me faithfully
Thanks for reminding me with this verse, “Do not try to impress others”… And I really think we have to stop comparing with others… Thank u, God bless u, brother John.
Thank you. I used to judge myself harshly because a guy jealous of me made me feel like i was arrogant. All I did was say no to drinking women and other things i didn't feel comfortable with. He said i think im better than everyone. I just humbly stood firm on my beliefs.
This video has popped upin my feed before today but I was drawn to watch it this time. I'm only 11 minutes through but I need to comment now. I'm a 45 year old man that was born again during an overdose 5 years ago. The revelation I was given while watching this video was that I have allowed pride to block the blessing of God over my life to such a degree that I saw the person God was blessing me through as the prideful one. Im so thankful to have the opportunity to repent of this ugly sin. Thank you!
Wow, this has happened to me with my family! I get called arrogant all the time especially when sharing what the Lord has shown me! Even my own experiences with the Lord gets the same accusations! When it says "a future and a hope" that is speaking of our eternity with Jesus. He IS our hope! Our reward! The tribulation is about to begin along with the rapture of the Bride prior! Maranatha!
I'm dealing with this right now too! My family proclaims that they are believers, yet don't show fruit, and think of me as "holier than thou" when I talk about obeying Jesus. I can no longer be around people who claim Jesus yet deliberately go against Him even when they know it's wrong, and not say anything. I always try to speak humbly and out of kindness (if I even have the boldness to at that time 🤦 it's hard lol) and I get looked down on. But I know I just need to keep following what Jesus says no matter what. Be bold for Him, even if it's hard with family. I'm learning how to stop people pleasing and please Him instead ❤️ you got this!
Happens all the time to me!!! As soon as I say anything they use passive aggression and ad hominem to call me arrogant. I refuse for them to try to keep me small. God is my Father! My confidence is in him, therefore I speak and move to obey him! Keep growing with the Holy Father! Keep obeying him. We will ALL have to answer for our afflictions one day. ❤
The problem with humility that needs to be addressed. The nations are abusive along with the churches, Christians and different people are abusive not only that, but predatory towards the humble and those that embrace humility. You get treated like the lowest of the low. Also God showed me in 2003 I use to pray and cry to God, that I was not humble enough and then He showed me that my life makes and keeps me humble to the point, you don't even know that you are. He also showed me there is a false humility that is just plain awful and gave to me not to embrace it or go after it, but to stand against it. That was ages ago, For me because I also embrace honesty, and at present, I am dealing with communication and being able to give a true witness and be totally honest, and if I can't be that about my self, then I certainly can't be that with God and others. And some people automatically accuse you of being arrogant and conceited, when in truth you are being honest and you don't want to be a false witness. God makes the humble deal with the pride, arrogant, conceited, and the list goes on. Sometimes its hard to get the help you need, or to have any relationship with anyone, because you put yourself last, or everyone puts you last, not only you but also your nation. I would like people to stop treating the humble like garbage and if we need help, then you need to listen and help, particularly in this current climate when there is all this wipe out going on. So for me I don't aim for the heights, I love the truth when God lowers His ear to hear the earth, or wisdom bows her ear to hear the earth, and I would love it if a whole bunch of people lowered there ear to listen, it would make everything a whole bunch better. My humility I embrace and was gifted with, is not humble so we can get something, or be in the high and lofty, that is awful, we don't embrace if you are humble God will do this and that, no you are humble because you value being humble, you submit, because you value submission its different, and you need to repent, because what you are saying about humility and how to be humble is awful and its false.
Great perspective, God bless you! I think that’s what makes false humility so deceiving. Some people only submit because they know that God promises greatness but that’s not true submission if you are only in it for the praise.
Thank you so much for in depth biblical analysis 🧐 between arrogance and humility! So thorough. JB, you’re such an amazing Bible teacher. In Proverbs, it says let others exalt you, and not yourself the Awe of God was extraordinary! Thanks again.

Humility is adjusting to what GOD Said. For example, if GOD Tells me, "You're beautiful", if I'm really humble, I'll Say, "I'm beautiful" because saying "I'm not" or "I'm ugly" is pride. Or worse, rebellion. 😇😇😇

The experts in humility should know the difference.Though many invoked the Lords blessing few count on it. Whenever we rejoice its not for ourselfs but for the truth unspoiled and unadolter aged.Obedience is synonimous with tyranny.
I am wondering how I can rebuke my brothers in Christ without becoming prideful? How can I judge their outward sin without coming across that I am better than them. I have my own sins, just in different areas, but have overcome struggles that they are currently dealing with.
I think Eliab was right. David’s Goliath situation was rooted in David’s view of his own ability based on his résumé with the lion and bear. Maybe Goliath was there to execute the judgement God had vowed for the house of Saul. David’s life went down from that victory on for nearly 2 decades. The difference between David the boy and David the man is that as a man, He never entered a battle without enquiring from the Lord both whether he in the battle and what strategy to use if he does. . He never used a previous victory as a reason to think he can do it. Now the arrogant boy became the humble man and king. Just another twist to the story to consider. 😉
Thanks for feeding us. So needed. I've been following your entire family from Canada...just love your obedience to Him and how transparent you are. As a single mother of three it means a lot to me to see how you balanced through life while serving God and there you are, all your kids have the love of God and the fear of God. Thank you John! Praise the Lord!
The times ive had to be the most humble before God and men have also been the times ive been seen as prideful by the ones that do not understand, ironically. Only further humbling the self and purifying the soul so that true humility would be created and not be dependent on if someone thinks it's humble or not.
I have a super Christian friend who believes that if she were to make someone sick then it would be their time to die rather than taking measures to prevent it... Is this true humility?
"You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain" (Exodus 20:7). Geez, gosh, oh my goodness are all euphemisms for OMG. I am struggling with this a lot right now so it stood out to me.
What I’ve noticed in people is if you say something with pure intention and they themselves are unfamiliar with having pure intentions, they’ll assume you’re saying it in a way they understand - in this case, a prideful person can only comprehend a true humble statement in a prideful way because they themselves don’t understand humility. My whole life, my peers assumed I was “fake” because I always made an effort to be kind to them. I learned that they themselves are unfamiliar with the level of kindness I gave and thus were never able to take my intentions for what they were. I was hurt a lot growing up because of this, but the Lord really strengthened me over the years 🩷
Yes amen! “To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled.” Titus 1:15
Yeah I relate!! I think truly fearing the lord above all else, this can come across as thinking I'm too special to follow social rules or norms. It's not my intention at all. I'm terrified for this world--for my family, myself and others of what doing the wrong things will lead to, of destruction and ruin, above the world's opinion or what someone thinks of me---and if heaven forbid i'm doing something thats going to hurt me and put others at risk, and I can't see it, I would want someone on earth to be courageous enough to tell me too.
A lot of humility is about keeping our eyes on Jesus and not caring about how you look to others. As long as you know your heart is pure before the Lord and you are have a grounded view of yourself in relation to God, regardless of what your natural demeanor is, charismatic or unassuming, it doesn't matter. Just because your charisma may betray a sense of arrogance to the insecure doesn't mean that you are arrogant. It's about your heart. Just because your softer demeanor may betray a sense of cowardice, weakness and false humility doesn't mean you are weak or spineless or a people pleaser. It's about your heart. So as long as you know your heart is right, who cares what others think?
I'm not sure about being conceded, when I was younger I was considered that by just a few people, they said they were scared to approach me, but from a very young age and even down a days, I've been called weak, a door mat, and I need to do this or that. But I'm just fine, but people in my life are telling me I'm weak and not standing up for myself. I don't get it.
You can see the love of God formed in Paul when he says I wish that I could be cut off that the Jewish people would know Jesus as messiah. That is the heart of Jesus. Wow!! Great teaching man of God.
No, humility couldn't possibly be mistaken for arrogance. ONLY those who are not of understanding would think that. When in actuality, using David as an example, humility equates to confidence in the LORD. WHEN YOU ARE HUMBLED AND CONTINUOUSLY WALK IN HUMILITY FOR THE MOST HIGH... YOU WILL EXUDE CONFIDENCE THAT THE ENEMY CANT COMPREHEND. Because that confidence is in the MOST HIGH Himself. (Hebrews 11:6).
Remember that Jesus Himself was seen as arrogant by the scribes and Pharisees, and yet He was perfect in His humility. Watch the full video for more examples, it’s a beautiful teaching.
@jareya Nowhere in the Bible does it state that Jesus was arrogant or seen as arrogant. I don't care how beautiful the teaching is. If it isn't biblical, I'm calling the teacher out on it. That's the problem, yall are so wrapped up in how "beautiful" a sermon is that you don't search the sceipture for yourself.
@@AHAYAHSDaughter40 Of course Jesus is not and was never arrogant. I never said that was stated anywhere in the Bible. in fact, I said He was perfectly humble. But He was *wrongly* perceived by some as arrogant, and the point of this teaching by Mr Bevere is that true humility can be misinterpreted as arrogance. Please read John 8:13, Mark 2:6-7, John 6:41-42, etc. God bless you.
Thank you …. I was thinking how can humility be confuse with arrogance (haughtiness/proud). Arrogance boasts, arrogance escapes accountability, arrogance is loud false confidence. If you’re truly born again with discernment, from the Holy Spirit you’ll never confuse the two, God is not the author of confusion. See why we must read the Bible for ourself
classic case of projection by Elab. happens all the time. and funny enough, it happens a lot with really any accusation. its merely a projection from themselves onto others
The story of the Israelites entering the Promised land, I felt was more about trusting God and believing than anything else. The 10 saying, "no, there are giants there, they will kill us" didn't trust God's ability to protect them, whereas Joshua and Caleb took God at His word. If God says go, we will be victorious; God was angry about that and the Israelites did not enter the Promised land until that whole generation of nay-sayers had died, ("40" yrs). Then Caleb and Joshua led the Israelites into the Promised land and they entered victoriously.

the Lords blessing few count on it.
Whenever we rejoice its not for ourselfs
but for the truth unspoiled and unadolter
aged.Obedience is synonimous with
tyranny.
💚🙏 Amen 🙏💚
What an absolute wonderful revelation. Just love that. Makes me feeling quite different about myself.
I am wondering how I can rebuke my brothers in Christ without becoming prideful? How can I judge their outward sin without coming across that I am better than them. I have my own sins, just in different areas, but have overcome struggles that they are currently dealing with.
Simply ask the Holy Spirit what He wants you to do about it. And always always in love. Without love, I wouldn't even try
👍✝️😊
I resonate.
wow, Lord!
What a message?! THANK YOU!
HalleluYah. I highly recommend any believer to read Andrew Murray's book called Humility.
I have a super Christian friend who believes that if she were to make someone sick then it would be their time to die rather than taking measures to prevent it... Is this true humility?
Excellent Bible study. 📚👍👍👍I just love it. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless you.🙏✝️🙌🙏✝️🙌
"You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain" (Exodus 20:7).
Great job John, keep preaching the good word
Yeah I relate!! I think truly fearing the lord above all else, this can come across as thinking I'm too special to follow social rules or norms. It's not my intention at all. I'm terrified for this world--for my family, myself and others of what doing the wrong things will lead to, of destruction and ruin, above the world's opinion or what someone thinks of me---and if heaven forbid i'm doing something thats going to hurt me and put others at risk, and I can't see it, I would want someone on earth to be courageous enough to tell me too.
Thank you man. I'm so blessed through you!
Wow! I love hearing that God's using these messages to minister to you.
I see myself as a believer
I love to listen to your teachings discovered on RUclips yesterday...
I have thought this for a while but you explained it perfectly. Thank you and May GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOUR MINISTRY ❤🙏🏾.
I don't get it.
conceited.....
No words. So powerful. Thank you. God is good ♡
You can see the love of God formed in Paul when he says I wish that I could be cut off that the Jewish people would know Jesus as messiah. That is the heart of Jesus. Wow!! Great teaching man of God.
The band tool would say :hang on or be humbled again
AMEN!! FINISH THE RACE THE JESUS WAY!!
@@jareya To go one step further, it does state in the Bible that the Pharisees and Sadducees were JEALOUS of Him.
AMEN!! THE CHARACTER YOU ARE CREATING IN ME! YOUR HUMILITY IS MY TEACHER!!!
wow that was so good
Love this teaching. Thank you so much. God bless! Greetings with love from the Philippines.
classic case of projection by Elab. happens all the time.
and funny enough, it happens a lot with really any accusation. its merely a projection from themselves onto others
💎🙏♥️💞😇😇thank ypu John Bevere!💎
Great teaching!!! Thank you for this! Have a blessed day!
