Good morning Doctor😃 How do I find a school that the credentials is taken in most states and out of the country? I live in CA and would love to travel and work as a SUD counselor.
Short answer is "Traveling" is harder in counseling. We don't have reciprocity between most states yet. (There are a few states in the SE United Stated that do. ) For certification, make sure you meet the standards for the state you intend to be licensed in first. Then if you move, they will have a process to get licensed as a transfer in the next state. The rules usually boil down to the state you are coming from having substantially similar standards. ( Keep your supervision records, states may ask for them. )
