Well, he was very confident in S8. When he declared he loved Elizabeth, but she rejected him. This hurt him and he probably started doubting himself. This probably affected his confidence in dating other woman too in S9. Now, that Elizabeth declared she was in love with him, Nathan has found his confidence again. We see he has the chemistry and love for Elizabeth. He is great with romance!
