Lara and Slimane are friends, they are collaborating to create her new album. They both will be coaches at The Voice Kids France this summer.
Here this was a concert of Slimane in Brussels, where Lara is originated from, so it made a lot of sense to get a duet from both there.
And the song is iconic, a french classic, that Lara made popular around the world.
Slimane is massive in France.
He won The Voice France 2016, robbing all french hearts from the blind audition onwards.
Since then, he has released 4 albums: they all monopolized the #1 seat in french charts.
All his concerts in the biggest venues are booked immediately.
He is known to be a very skilled vocalist, with an impressive range and a unique tone. But first and foremost an emotional powerhouse that always delivers perfectly live. He can sing acapella in front of large venues and is not shy to perform on the biggest scenes: he sang Mon Amour for new year's eve on the Champs-Elysées, in front of more than 1 million people.
He is also an amazing songwriter: he composed and wrote most of his own songs, and also has produced songs for the greatests of the french music scene (Amel Bent, Kendji Girac, Florent Pagny, Vitaa, ….), some of these were ranked in top 5 of France charts.
Up to, recently, for the great Lara Fabian: he is co-creating and co-composing her latest album with her, she released the first song "Ta Peine" (Your Sorrow), with a music video recorded on a sicilian beach, close from her home, and it is already a success.
Slimane was the french contestant for France in Eurovision 2024 and finished 4th with his song "Mon Amour". Many believe he should have won.
Slimane just announced, after Eurovision, an international tour in Europe, USA and Canada that will kick off early 2025.
Mon amour is already an international success and, the day after Eurovision, it became the most streamed french song ever in a single day with about 3 millions streams in 24h. He got some gold records awards in some foreign countries such as Greece.

It seems to me that I can register a significant difference between Lara and Slimane in this performance in the quality of both the articulation (at least as this is perceived by a listener, like me, whose mother tongue is not French), and the way of using the breath; qualities that, in both cases, I certainly find superior in Lara.
In particular, while the difference in articulation can be appreciated throughout the entire performance, the difference in the use of breathing is especially evident in the "a cappella" section sung simultaneously. Here, while Slimane's breathing seems almost labored to me, as if it had to make up for a lack of oxygen, Lara's breaks away from its physiological necessity to become an artistic constitutive element of her interpretation. But this, in Lara, is a widely known story, as all those who know her a little know.
