And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. (John 3:14-15)
      And:
And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. (John 12:32)
An unsaved person can turn, even when filled with sins, and can “behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). The turning isn’t going over a list of sins, or even knowing what they all are. It is admitting they are sinners and need what Jesus has offered freely: forgiveness, salvation, eternal life and being added to God’s family.
“Repentance, as it relates to Christ, means to change our minds about Him, who He is and what He's done to provide forgiveness, and deliverance from our sins. When we place faith in Jesus as having taken our place personally on the cross and borne the penalty due our sins, then we're automatically repenting, because we couldn't accept Him in this way without having to change or minds in some way concerning Him.” (From the Liberation of the Planet Earth, by Hal Lindsey. (p. 133).

You imply you can change? You are more powerful than sin….? Do not confuse the snapshot in time of a believer with their ultimate destination. Our change is only by the work of the Holy Spirit in us by us yielding in faith. Those who are taught work’s salvation do not do this they are still trying to change themselves….which does not work. It is simply cosmetic to convince others that the outside of their cup is clean, why prune a dead tree? Jesus was more concerned with uprooting the dead tree and only he could do it. Stop trusting in self and trust in Jesus more.

Is changing a work? Indeed it is , salvation is not of works . Typical false teaching for salvation . If you believe anything other than just faith on the finished work of Christ , you are in danger of entering hell/laker of fire .
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

I have come to understand this as refusal to accept Jesus when the Holy Spirit tugs on your heart and to continually push the Holy Spirit away.

    SCRIPTURES ON BIBLICAL REPENTANCE:
    1. Passages showing that men must turn from all sinful ways, or repent toward God from the very bottom of their hearts, before God can extend His merciful forgiveness. This is directly asserted in both the Old and New Testaments. Some examples are:
    De.30:19-20 Ezek. 14:6 Lk. 24:45-47 Eph. 5:14
    Josh24:14-15 Ezek. 18:30-32 Acts 1:18 I Th. 1:9-10
    II ki. 17:12-14 Ezek. 33:11 Acts 2:37-38 Titus 2:11-14
    Prov. 28:13 Zech. 1:3-4 Acts 3:19, 26 Jas. 1:21
    Is. 1:16-18 Mk. 1:14-15 Acts 17:30:31 I Pe. 3:12
    Is. 55:6-7 Lk. 5:312-32 Acts 20:20-21 II Pe. 3:9
    Jer. 4:14 Lk. 3:3, 5 Acts 26:18-20
    Jer. 36:3 Lk. 5:7, 10 Ro. 2:4
    2. Passages showing that men must fear God or have a reverential attitude toward God, with proper respect to the austere dignity of the Godhead, if they are going to be saved. Thus there
must be repentance. Some passages declaring this are:
    Ps. 103:13 Mt. 10:28 Phil. 2:12-13 I Pe. 5:5-6
    Ps. 138:6 Lk. 1:50 He. 12:28-29 I Jn. 4:16-18
    Is. 57:15 Acts 10:34-35 Jas. 4:6, 10 (Reverential)
    Is. 66:2 II Co. 7:1 I Pe.1:17 (confidence)
    3. Passages showing that men must turn from a state of disobedience to a state of obedience, and continue therein, if they are going to be saved. Men must repent in such a way that they remain in a state of repentance, because it is founded in true intelligence.
    De. 13:17-18 Mt. 3:8-10 Acts 26:20 He. 5:9
    II Chr. 30:8-9 7:21-23 Ro. 2:6-11 I Jn. 2:4, 17
    Ps. 84:10-11 Lk. 11:28 6:16-18 I Jn. 3:10
    Micah 6:8 Acts 5:32 Titus 2:11-14
    4. Passages showing that men must turn to love God and man if they are to partake of the only salvation that God offers, thus there must be a repentant renunciation of the life of selfishness if God's mercy is to be exercised:
    Ex. 20:6 De. 11:1 Lk. 10:25-28 Jas. 2:5
    Le. 19:18, 34
    De. 30:15-20 Jn. 15:6, 9-10, 12 I Jn. 3:14De. 6:4-6 Josh. 22:5-6
    Ro. 5:5 I Jn. 4:7-8, 20 Neh. 1:4-51 Co. 16:22
    De. 7:9-11
    I Jn. 5:2-3 Ps. 145:20 Ga. 5:22 Jude 21
    5. Passages showing that men must turn to a benevolent forgiving state of mind if God is to exercise mercy in the forgiveness of sin, and must remain in this state as a condition of continued mercy. Thus repentance or a revolution of mind is imperative:
    Mt. 5:7 Mt. 18:32-35 Lk. 6:36, 37 Col. 3:12-13
    Mt. 6:12, 14-15 Mk. 11:24-25 Ep. 4:32
It would be completely wrong for God to forgive an unforgiving spirit, and thus such a state prevents God from extending mercy. Repentance sees the immensity of our debt toward God as compared to any man's debt to us and freely forgives (Mt. 18:24, 28). Notice that no former state will void the consequences of Mt. 18:35.
    6. Passages showing that God is no respecter of persons, and therefore it is man's reactions to God's pleadings in mercy that enables God to make a difference between men in forgiving one and not another. Man's reaction determines God's reaction:
    De. 11:26-28 Jer. 32:17-19 Mt. 22:16 Ep. 6:9
    Josh. 24:15 Eze. 18:30 Acts 10:34-35 Col. 3:25
    Ps. 62:12 33:17-20 Ro. 2:6, 11 I Pe. 1:17
    Prov. 24:12 Mt. 16:26-27 Ga. 2:6
    7. The following Scriptures indicate how all men must seek the Lord in penitence before pardon of all past sins can be granted:
    De. 4:29-31 Ps. 145:18-19 Mt. 7:7-8 II Co. 6:2
II Chr. 7:13-14 Is. 45:21-23 Lk. 13:23-25 II Co. 7:9-10
    Ps. 25:6-7, 11 Is. 55:6 Lk. 18:13-14 He. 11:6
    Ps. 32:3-5 Jer. 29:12-13 Acts 2:21 Jas. 4:8-10
    Ps. 34:18 Hos. 10:12 Acts 17:24-27, 30 I Jn. 1:9
    Ps. 41:4 Joel 2:12-14 Ro. 10:13
    Ps. 51:1-4, 17 Jonah 3:5-10 I Co. 14:24-25
    WHAT IS NOT REPENTANCE?
    1. Not remorse, regret, sorrow, or penance, although these elements of experience will always precede repentance. Repentance is more than this (II Co. 7:9).
    2. Not a change in subordinate choices or the means of self-gratification, but only a renunciation of the supreme choice of selfishness.
    3. Not a partial change in ultimate supreme intention or purpose in life. We cannot partly repent and partly not repent, or be partly selfish and partly not selfish at the same time.
    4. Not a professed reversal of life under emotional pressure or fear of the consequences of our sins. While these elements are always present in the process of moral awakening, we are intelligent beings and must decide to forsake sin because it is wrong and love God supremely and our fellowmen equally because it is right. We must not only submit to truth but must "receive the love of the truth so as to be saved" (II Th. 2:10).
    5. Not an endeavor partially to merit salvation by turning to live in such a way as to commend ourselves to God and make it easier for God to forgive us. This is a natural tendency for an awakened sinner before he realizes how selfishly corrupt his life has really been. He thinks that by doing a little extra for God or giving a sum of money his situation with God will be eased.
    SCRIPTURE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE REPENTANCE
    A. OLD TESTAMENT WORDS COMMONLY USED:
    1. TO REPENT (naw-kham', S-5162 )-The word basically implies 16 difficulty in breathing and properly means to sigh, to Pant, to groan, to breathe strongly or draw the breath forcibly. The word came to signify to be sorry, to grieve, to lament, to regret, to suffer remorse or to repent because of one's actions; also to grieve on account of the misery of anyone, hence to pity, console, or comfort. It is translated repent about 40 times,17 of which about 33 times refers to the actions of God in an aroused state of emotion (as Ge. 6:6-7; Ex. 32:12, 14; I Sam. 15:11, 35; Jer. 18:8, 10; Jonah 3:9-10; 4:2). Some of the instances where it is used in this sense of man are: Ex. 13:17; Jud. 21:6; Job 42:6; Jer. 8:6; 31:19.
    2. TO TURN (shoob, S-77251)-To turn about, to return, to turn back, thus metaphorically to be converted, as a sinner; to turn one's self to a person or thing, to have a radical change in one's attitude toward sin and God, with a complete turn to righteousness. The verb is very extensively used in various structures and renderings. It is used many times concerning God's actions (as Ps. 90:13). Examples concerning man turning from sin are: De. 4:30-31; I Sam. 7:3; II Chr. 6:24-25, 37-39; Neh. 1:9; Is. 55:7; Jer. 3:12-14;18:8; Hos. 14:1-2; Jonah 3:8, 10; Zech. 1:3-4; Mal. 3:7. In Eze. 14:6 and 18:30-32 we have a double use of the same verb: "Return ye and turn yourselves" , giving idea of grief and altered relation.
    B. NEW TESTAMENT WORDS COMMONLY USED:
    1. TO REPENT (metanoe'o, S-33401)-To change one's mind or purpose, to undergo a change in frame of mind and feeling, to make a change in principle and practice, to reform, equivalent to the Old Testament word "turn;" derived from "meta', expressing the idea of change, and "noeo," to think, understand, conceive, apprehend. Some usages are: Mk. 1:15; 6:12; Lk. 13:3, 5; 15:7, 10; Acts 2:3 3:19; 17:30; 26:20; Re. 2:5, 16, 22; 3:3, 19.
    2. REPENTANCE (me anoya, S-33411)-A change of mind or mode of thought and feeling, the noun form from above verb: from "meta" and "noya, which is from "nous," the intellect, mind or understanding in thought, feeling, and will. Some usages are: Lk. 3:3, 8; 5:32; 24:47; Acts 5:31; 11:18; 20:21; 26:20; Ro. 2:4; II Co. 7:9, 10; II Pe. 3:9.
    3. TO TURN ABOUT (epistre'pho, S-1994 )-To turn back, around, 1 or towards, to return, to convert, to turn one's self about or around; from "epi, upon, also used for emphasis, and "strepho," to turn or change (used in Mt. 18:3). See the following usages: Mt. 13:15; Lk. 22:32; Acts 3:19; 9:35; 11:21; 14:15; 15:19; 26:18, 20; I Th. 1:9; Jas. 5:19-20; I Pe. 2:25. The noun form appears only in Acts 15:3. A kindred verb, "apostre'pho" (S-6541), to turn away, appears in Acts 3:26.change of Action. REPENTANCE IS CHANGE OF MIND PRODUCING CHANGE OF ACTION WHICH ONE IS TURNING FROM SIN! Proverbs 28:13
    King James Version👇
13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso ((confesseth)) and ((forsaketh)) them shall have mercy. Romans 6:12-23👇
    King James Version
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
Galatians 5:16 -👉 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Repentance is part of your faith in Jesus. A person is born in spirit the moment he experience spiritual understanding while hearing the gospel. That moment of illumination makes the person realize he/she is a sinner and come short of the glory of God. This is the work of the Holy Spirit which leads a person to repentance.
If you're one of those who were lead to pray the "sinner's prayer", you're already born again even before you started the prayer. Your prayer is simply a manifestation of what has already happened in your heart. This is the reason why in Acts 10:44 the gentiles, while listening to Peter, received the Holy Spirit without saying a prayer or saying "we believe", or "we repent".

    Mark 1:15
The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent AND believe the good news!”
That's the order we find in a couple of other places in the new testament,
the words repent or repentance first then belief or believe occur in the same verse and each time repent comes first believe comes second.
You cannot repent without believing, you cannot believe without repenting.
You make a decision (of the will) to turn away from sin and turn to God. That's repentance. By turning away from sin and turning to God, that's an act of faith. You're putting your trust in the Lord Jesus to save you.
IF you're going to look to the Lord to save you, then you have to turn away from sin and look to Him. When Jesus says Repent and believe He is saying repentance and faith are 2 sides of the glorious salvific coin. One a turning away from sin and a turning to God. The other putting our faith and trust in God to save us. To save us from those sins which we are turning away.

    • @myflourishingfam
      @myflourishingfam  Месяц назад

Repentance means having a changed heart/mind. Towards what? That needs to be clarified. God repented of making man (Gen 6:6), of destroying Ninevah (Jonah 3:10), so if God repented, then repenting can't be exclusive to sin or else God was turning from sin (which He cannot sin). In relation to Mark 1:15, repentance from sins was preached to Israel to accept the Messiah on His terms, which would usher in the Kingdom of God (Dan 2:44) where Jesus would reign from the throne of David over the earth. That was the gospel (good tidings/good news) of the Kingdom of God/Heaven. Israel had that opportunity, and turned it down. Now that Kingdom is postponed until His millennial reign after the Tribulation period.
When you evangelize someone, do you say, "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!"? That's not the gospel of salvation, but of the Kingdom. A man must be born again (saved) to enter the Kingdom (John 3:3). The type of repentance needed for salvation is turning (repenting) from unbelief in Jesus, to faith in Jesus.

Unbelief is a sin but its certainly not the only sin.
When Jesus said to repent over and over again IF all He was commanding, was to believe then no reason to say repent He would've simply said believe each time instead.
    Mark 1:15
The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent AND believe the good news!”
Repent of your sins and believe.

Repenting and turning away from sin means a recognition of my sins, which involves Godly sorrow,
brokenness and a commitment on my part to change the direction of my life. Repentance is not an emotion. Its more than being grieved or feeling sorry about my sin and even having remorse.
      It springs from the will.
God wants you to humble yourself make a decision of the heart and mind [the will] to turn away from sin. Your life was going in one direction [sin] and you make a decision by faith to take your life in the opposite direction with His help.
It is making a genuine 180° change of heart recognizing that sin(s) is against God.
By turning from our sins to God we acknowledge we have disobeyed God. We have violated His law, offended his moral purity, tried to cast off his yoke of authority. It requires that we admit we have turned from God to sin.
Repentance is the consequence of faith.
Repent means change your mind about your sinfulled life ALL SINS INCLUDING
UNBELIEF, false gods, sexual immortality, witchcraft, self righteousness, hate idols etc.
      After repentance there must
be a genuine change of life because living in sin is disobedience and rebellion against God and the end result will be
destruction of the soul in hell.
There must be a change in conduct and how you live.
You don't have to remember every sin, Jesus knows them all. Confess ongoing sins, and ask for deliverance of them and forgiveness of all sins.
      [1John 1:9]
Repentance turning from sin - is a prelude to holiness.
      Hebrews 12:14
Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy, without holiness no one will see the Lord.
Walking in holiness begins with repentance. We should think about it as a lifetime daily discipline of our faith,
necessary for a holy life as Jesus says in
      Luke 11:3-4.
      None of us are sinless.

Saving faith is when you trust in what Jesus did for you - He, as God in the flesh, is able to forgive your sins and He paid the price on the cross in fill for them all. He bore the wrath of God so that you don't have to. He was forsaken by the Father so that we won't have to be. He arose from the dead to show He has power over death and the grave and has promised that anyone who trusts in Him, in who He is and what He did on the cross, is saved. If you trust in this, in Him, you're saved.
"And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved" Acts 16:30-31
"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life." John 5:24
"For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures" 1 Cor 15:3-4
"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." 1 John 5:13
"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name" John 1:12
"For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus." Gal 3:26
"And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." John 3:14-15
There are so many more verses like this. Satan and the demonic want nothing more than to confuse you and keep you in doubt. When your eyes are on yourself, you'll always have room to worry and question because none of us is able to be do this perfectly. Fix your eyes on Jesus, and you'll have zero doubt because He did it perfectly, and His righteousness is transfered to us at the point of faith (2 Cor 5:21, Rom 4:5).
Do NOT walk by your feelings, emotions, or fears. Walk by faith (2 Cor 5:7). God's Word is truth (John 17:17), and if it says you're saved once you trust in Jesus and His sacrifce, then you're saved. Not only that, but you're already positionally perfected in His sight.
"He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses" Col 2:13
"For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified" Heb 10:14
Spend time with God in prayer, in scripture, in worship, and with other believers and churches that build you up and help you in your walk with Christ.
      God bless!

Sin no more because we love Jesus!!! If you truly believe, you will follow Him and obey him! Pray everyday for His forgiveness and do you best to follow His Word.
I don't have all of the answers. The one thing I know is Jesus loves us, sin separates us, He paid for us through His suffering and blood, and we are now in dweller by His Holy Spirit who keeps us on the narrow path.
I caution to not willfully leave Jesus and fall into unbelief. I think the Bible says if we have tasted His grace and then rejected it there is no more salvation for such, for would He be crucified again?
But what do I know. I am holding onto Jesus for dear life and walk out my life in fear and trembling lest I fall into willful sin. I cannot save myself. I don't want to add to the pain of my Lord.
Be obedient to Him. Why because told us to obey his commands! Do it because if you believe he is Lord, how could you know better than your Lord King of the universe and all of the Heavens.
Fear Him with love and reverance.

One is saved according to the bible if :
1-You are born again and therefore you have a relationship with God, if you dont have a relationship with God you are NOT a born again christian, (so not saved)
2-You love the word of God , I Peter 1:23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever. (The born again loves the word of God, if you think you have a relationship with God but you dont love his word you are NOT a born again christian, period.)
3-born again christian must love God and Jesus , I John 5:1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. (If you dont love Jesus and his father you are not saved)
4-You do not practice sin, period, I always hear people say that once saved always saved with people who are in sin and saying things "this man is from God", "this man gave himself to God a long time ago", nonsense, Brothers, once a drunk came to me and started talking to me about God to my surprise, he said, "because God, my father...", and I said to him "stop, don't continue, you have been taught a false gospel, God is not your father" he says "what?", I say to him "God does not have drunk or drug addict children, God has children who repent of that and in Christ", the Bible says it and I want to believe what the Bible says, not what people think or say,[ I John 3:6-10
Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother]
So you see John was not going midterm nor halfway, he went full ballistic, all in, and people always say "well, sometimes" or "once in while I get high, drunk etc", nope, who practise sin is not a born again christian , John was very clear on that, period
5- the one who is born again has an unshackable faith and keep his commandments,[ I John 5:1-5 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him.By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever IS BORN of God OVERCOMES the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world-our FAITH. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who BELIEVES that Jesus is the Son of God?] , so take note of this and examine your life because I cannot born again for you and neither you can born again for me, so to summarize the signs for the ones who are born again christians:
    1-have a relationship with God
    2-love the word of God
    3-love God father and Jesus
    4-do not practise sin
5-have an unshackable faith in Jesus, you believe that Jesus is the son of God

No preacher should compromise their call to repentance toward this class of sinner in the name of "mercy" or "love." When preachers fail to exhort those living in sin to CEASE from their sin, and when they negligently hold back the saving truth from those who need to hear it, then they actually end up "loving" people straight to hell by making them feel safe in their sin. Repentance is more than godly sorrow. Godly sorrow is not good enough because it doesn't go far enough. Just feeling bad about your sin while remaining IN your sin does not make you right with God, but repentance necessarily results in amendment of life (i.e., fruits of repentance). forsaking all Sin and to carry a cross daily denying ungodliness and Worldly lust to live Holy! (Titus 2:11-14)

Though it's maybe fine to use that parable to illustrate God's forgiveness, the real meaning of the parable is hidden to many. The parable of the prodigal son is actually related to the previous 2 parables of the same chapter. It mainly describes the relationship between God, the angels, and the human race that got separated from God because of Adam's sin.
Some of the angels (who were deceived by Satan) didn't like how the salvation of men merits a glorious heavenly celebration, while the angels who have been obedient since the beginning never had any celebration in their honor.
These are the third part of the angels which Satan tricked into joining him, while Jesus was on earth. And Satan's overconfidence lead himself to believe he could tempt the Son of God into joining him as well (Luke 4:6-7). Satan was planning a coup against God.
Satan is a calculating person. If there's any time he could "dethrone" God, it's this time when he's got an angelic army, and while the Son of God (now son of man) is away in a "weak" earthly body He "can't seem to escape" from.
And we know the result of Satan's coup attempt (Luke 10:18 and Revelation 12:8-9). Satan miscalculated the situation badly, because there are crucial information which God kept hidden from him. God's power did not diminish even with His Son away. He just allowed Satan to take those rebellious angels with him.
Getting cast down to earth and never to enter heaven again drove Satan crazy, all he wants at this point is to kill the Son of man. Imagine how Satan became even more mad when he realized that Jesus Christ's death at the cross actually fulfilled God's plan (Revelation 12:10-11).

Demons don’t believe the gospel (1 cor 15:1-4), not that salvation is offered to them anyway. They know there is one God and that’s it’s Jesus, and even that makes them shake! If that monotheist belief they have causes them to move, how much more should our saving faith in the finished work of Christ move us to act on our faith! That’s the point of the verse. God bless!

The Holy Spirit convicts, the devil condemns. When it's the Holy Spirit, as strong as the conviction feels you'll have peace in your heart about it (even if your mind is freaking out). God draws you, but the devil pushes you. Those are some distinctions I'd make.

You’re not teaching repentance correctly. If someone has truly come to faith in Jesus Christ they will repent of all their sinful living. Repentance is not just a change of mind from unbelief to belief. Paul said before Christ revealed Himself to him he was formerly a blasphemer but God had mercy on him because he acted ignorantly in unbelief. Paul told the Corinthian church that they were all those types of sinners before they got saved but not anymore and he also said they were separated from God when formerly they followed the course of this world and were controlled by the spirit that now works in the sons of disobedience. Paul said “do not be deceived do you not know they the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Yes trying to make it heaven based on good deeds doesn’t save but true belief in Jesus Christ is the result of Jesus Christ revealing himself to someone and giving them His Holy Spirit and this is when a person becomes born again and if a person is born again they will not continue to practice sin. There will be a radical transformation in their life and they will now follow Jesus and abide in Him in obedience to the Spirit. Telling people all they have to do is believe and how they live doesn’t matter misleads people. It does matter how people live. It is important to tell people that if they continue to practice sin they will die and go to hell. Repentance is a change of living to from disobedience to obedience to Jesus Christ and His commandments. If a person has truly believe in Jesus then they also believe He is Lord.

@ I understand but we also must tell people that we are commanded to repent of disobedience towards God. That’s what the one son did in the story. He makes the jump saying that the one son that went to go work the field after all had a change of mind and that was true but he changed his mind about obedience to his father. Read Luke’s gospel. John the Baptist tells us what true repentance is. True faith in Jesus Christ that saves will result in a change of behavior too.

They don't trust in His finished work for salvation, not that they could because salvation is only offered to humanity. Knowing that there's one God and that Jesus is God doesn't save anyone. Trusting in the finished work of Christ saves. Monotheists are Muslims, Jews, etc, but faith in His finished work is what saves.

"You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe-and tremble!" James 2:19
Demons believe there is one God (monotheist), it doesn't say they believe in Jesus Christ for salvation. They are monotheist, like Jews and Muslims. They even know that Jesus is God, but acknowledging Jesus as God, doesn't save. You have to trust in His finished work on the cross. Not that demons could be saved (the offer is only to humanity), but this passage doesn't teach its not enough to simply believe. In fact, the Gospel is as simple as believing!
The face they tremble shows that even their faith that there is one God moves them to fear. How much more should our faith in Christ move us to serve Him!
Acts 16:30-31 "And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved"
"We are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus" Gal 3:26
The Gospel is as simple as 1 Cor 15:1-4, that Jesus died for our sins and arose on the 3rd day to offer us eternal life through His sacrifce, if we trust Him.

Jesus found me in my doubt and disbelief and saved me anyway. Nowhere in the new testament are we commanded to build alters or church buildings. Acts of the Apostles is a transitional book going from law to grace. Some books in the new testament are describing what happened in the old testament. The will of the father first and foremost is John 6:40, to believe on Christ. Not acknowledging him, but trusting in the finished work. That’s the gospel (1 cor 15:1-4). Repentance for salvation is turning from unbelief to belief, whereas repentance for the believer is turning from sin to righteousness. Repentance means a changed heart/mind in both Greek and Hebrew, and yes it results in action but the repentance for salvation is turning from whatever you trusted in before, if anything, to trusting in the finished work of Christ.
You cannot earn a righteous status with God by our work, all our righteousness is ad filthy rags Isa 64:6. There is none righteous, rom 3:11. Our righteousness comes from faith in Christ (gen 15:6, rom 3:21-28, 4:5, 2 cor 5:21, etc). If you’re counting on your works to save you, you’re not going to make it. You need the imputed righteousness of Christ.

Works cannot and will not justify sinners before God. Once we are saved Christians should repent to keep fellowship. Keep short accounts with God. If you sin confess immediately repent and get back on the road looking at Jesus. People who claim Christians have to live under law to stay saved dishonor Jesus and the sacrifice he made for sinful man. The people who say once saved always saved inevitably leads to living like the devil make me a bit angry. There was a time in my life where i was doing things and embracing living to satisfy the lusts of my flesh. And the reason it lasted as long as it did was unwilling to repent. But God chastises his children, and the Lord had to take me to the woodshed so to speak. In closing keep your eyes on Jesus and don't feed your sin nature. God's grace isn't a license to sin (Rom 6:1-2, 15-17). If you think that God's grace empowers that and you need threats of loss of salvation to keep people in order, it shows you don't understand God's grace at all.
"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, TEACHING us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;" Titus 2:11-12.
God's grace not only saves us, but ALSO teaches us to turn from sin and towards righteousness. If you aren't doing that, then you didn't understand His grace. His grace is His goodness, and "the goodness of God calls men to repentance." Rom 2:4. Understanding grace doesn't leave you thinking, "Great, now I get to sin all I want!" It does the exact opposite. You can see by a believer's life how much they truly understand God's grace.

What does it mean to believe in Jesus? It means give your WHOLE heart and follow Him. If you believe, Jesus will ask you to work in the fields - obey Hiscommands. If you refuse to follow Jesus, you are not a believer in Him.
If you believe in Jesus, Jesus Word will instructed you to turn from sin. You are not saved by your works, but by the Work of Jesus on he Cross.
You cannot be double minded. If you are holding onto the world and sin, not willing to give it all to follow Jesus...you cannot be a true believer in Christ.

To believe in Jesus is to believe the gospel (1 cor 15:1-4), and all who place their faith in that are children of God by faith (gal 3:26). He gives all believers a new heart with new and right desires (ezk 36:26), which inclines you toward righteousness and creates a tension in you when you sin. We also have the Holy Spirit to convict and help us. Following Jesus is a consequence of growth and maturation.
When we mature in Christ, we pursue discipleship, which isn’t salvation itself. Salvation is a free gift, discipleship is costly. Salvation Jesus paid the price, discipleship the believer pays the price. Salvation has one requirement, discipleship has multiple. Salvation is not of works, discipleship involves works. Salvation results in justification, discipleship results in sanctification. Salvation gives eternal life, discipleship brings rewards and authority. Salvation is God’s work for us, discipleship is our works for God. Salvation happens in a moment, discipleship happens over a lifetime. To not discern these differences leads to a mixing of the two and a works-based system where works get or KEEP you saved, and without them you won’t get to heaven. Since we’re not saved by works (eph 2:8-9), we need to discern this.
1 Corinthians 1-15 deals with the sin, carnality and heresy in that church. None of it was allowed, permitted or endorsed. It brought consequences, punishment and a loss of rewards. Yet not once did Paul tell them that their sin and lack of full dedication to Christ cost them their salvation. Instead, he affirmed it in 1 cor 1:2, 7-8 and told them they would ALL go in the rapture (1 cor 15:51-52). He even called them carnal in 1 cor 3:1-3). It is possible that a believe can walk in sin and still be saved, as David said of his sin with Bathsheba, “restore the joy of your salvation” psa 51:12. Not restore my salvation, but the joy of it. Your child is always your child, regardless of how badly they can fail, but consequences, blessings, punishment, rewards, etc all depend on behaviour.
If someone says they’re saved but never had a conviction over sin, no inward inclination towards righteousness, no change in them over time, no indication of the Holy Spirit, they haven’t experienced the new birth. They need the gospel and true faith in Christ.
The more you give to Jesus, the more He can work in you. Even from personal experience the more I gave to Jesus, the more He did. Lordship salvation puts the cart before the horse, expecting the results of discipleship (and to be a disciple means to be a student, learner or pupil. Not the same definition as salvation), to be the requirement for salvation.
The end of John 15:1-8 says “so shall you be my disciples.” Not, so shall you be saved. Luke 9:62 Jesus said if you put your hand to the plow and look back, you aren’t fit for the kingdom. The word for fit in Greek means useful. To be useful in the kingdom you need to stay focused. It doesn’t say you won’t be there, just you won’t be useful in it. You must be born again to enter it (John 3:3), not be a disciple to enter it.

John 6:40 does not apply to the Parable of the 2 sons in Matthew 21:28-32.
There are more verses of The will of the Father.
What is the will of the Father?
God wants you saved,He wants you Spirit controlled, and He wants you separated from sin.
    1 Thessalonians 4:3-8
It is God’s WILL that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, 5not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; 6and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. 7For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. 8Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction is not rejecting man
but the God who gives His Holy Spirit
    to you.
    Romans 12:2
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and acceptable and PERFECT WILL OF GOD.
    1 John 2:17

    Luke 6:46.

    • @myflourishingfam
      @myflourishingfam  Месяц назад +1

I simply pointed out what the will of the Father is because it mentioned the father's will in the parable.
To be saved is to trust in Jesus, and God's will for believers is that they live according to His righteousness. If we fail to, we are still saved as a disobedient child is still part of their family, but negative consequences follow. Punishment, loss of rewards, ruined testimony, pull down weaker believers, etc.
To say works are necessary to get/stay/prove you're saved is to add works to salvation (Eph 2:8-9).
1 Cor 3:10-15 shows our future evaluation at the Judgement/Bema seat of Chirst. In 1 Cor 3:15 some believers have all their works burned (they suffer a loss of rewards), yet are still saved. If they had a life characterized by righteousness, how did they suffer loss? They lived lives of insincere service for God, idleness, or sin, all of which was consumed in the fire. They were still saved, as their salvation didn't depend on their lives lived.
There'a difference of what MUST I do to get saved, and what SHOULD I do now that I am saved.

The point Jesus is making in the Parable of the 2 sons is the need for repentance.
In this case Jesus is speaking of obedience, that's why John 6:40 doesn't apply here.
The parable is of a man with two sons who told them to go work in the vineyard. The first son refused, but later obeyed and went. The second son initially expressed obedience, but actually disobeyed and refused to work in the vineyard.
The son who ultimately did the will of his father was the first son because he eventually obeyed. Jesus then likens the first son to tax collectors and prostitutes-the outcasts of Jewish society-because they believed John the Baptist and accepted “the way of righteousness”
      (v. 32). Jesus said the (outcasts) repented and believed. This is the order we find in other scriptures.
      Repentance always precedes Faith (Belief)
So often we hear people teaching that only belief in Jesus is how to be born again, but never teach to repent (of their sinfulled life ) which was Jesus's first command when He started His earthly ministry.

Obedience is not works its required.
So many use Ephesians 2:8-9 inaccurately. The works Paul is speaking about here as he does in other areas is don't add the works of trying to follow the Mosaic Law to grace. He is not saying no works at all as some claim.
      Ephesians 2:10
      clairifies the difference
      Ephesians 2:10
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Another time Paul states grace first then purifying us, teaching us to be obedient and then we will be motivated to do good works.

Jesus came to save us from the power of sin and death, not a mythological place called hell.

What we call hell is the Lake of Fire in the Bible, a place of eternal punishment. "And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life" Matt 25:46

@@myflourishingfam What the Bible calls the LoF is the ‘second death’ (Rev 20:14; 21:8), which cannot endure forever bc all death will one day be abolished (I Cor 15:26-28; Rev 21:4). “Everlasting” comes from the Greek word ‘aionios’ which means age-enduring, not eternal. “And these shall be coming away into chastening eonian, yet the just into life eonian." (Concordant Literal NT).
