Bhadanta Seelananda Sohbir, who is a shining star of the Buddhist community of Bangladesh - he is also known as Dhutang Bhante.He was born on December 26, 1977 in Sonaichari village of Rangunia police station in Chittagong district.In 1988 on the auspicious Baisakhi Purnima Tithi at the age of 11, he became a monk.And on June 26, 1998, he received upasampada.On December 10, 1999, he journeyed to the secluded forest with the firm intention of attaining Sheela, Samadhi, and wisdom along with spiritual practice.The venerable Dhutang Bhante attained Arhat enlightenment after 12 years of hard meditation in 5 places according to Mahasatipatthan sutras in the deep forest of Dhutang Bhante.After that he has been working tirelessly for the post-Buddha rule in Bangladesh. Venerable Dhutanga Bhanta has 55 disciples out of which 25 are currently meditating in the deep forest. Pilgrims from different countries of the world come to him to learn Buddhism and meditation.He has 37 Buddhist institutions in Bangladesh where his disciples practice medn. He also has an institution in Vietnam called the Vietnam-Bangla International mediation Center. He also visited Vietnam twice for charit. There are few Buddhists in Bangladesh who live in Chittagong region.He is playing a special role in promoting Buddhism in remote Buddhist villages through dharma revie.
#ভদন্ত শীলানন্দ স্হবির, যিনি বাংলাদেশের বৌদ্ধ সমাজের এক উজ্জ্বল নক্ষত্র-তিনি ধুতাঙ্গ ভান্তে নামেও পরিচিত।তিনি ১৯৭৭সালের ২৬ শে ডিসেম্বর চট্টগ্রাম জেলার রাঙ্গুনিয়া থানার সোনাইছড়ি গ্রামে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। ১৯৮৮ সালে শুভ বৈশাখী পুর্ণিমা তিথিতে মাত্র ১১বছর বয়সে শ্রামন্যধর্মে প্রবজ্যিত হন। এবং ১৯৯৮ সালের ২৬জুন, উপসম্পদা লাভ করেন। তিনি ১৯৯৯ সালের ১০ ডিসেম্বর তিনি ধূতাঙ্গশীল অনুশীলনসহ শীল, সমাধি, প্রজ্ঞা লাভের দৃঢ় অধিষ্ঠান নিয়ে নির্জন অরণ্যাভিমূখে যাত্রা করেন।ধুতাঙ্গ ভান্তে গভীর অরণ্যে মহাসতিপট্ঠান সূত্র অনুসারে ৫টি স্থানে ১২ বছর কঠোর ধ্যানের পর পূজ্য ধুতাঙ্গ ভান্তে অরহত জ্ঞান লাভ করেন।এরপর তিনি বাংলাদেশে বুদ্ধ শাসনের উত্তরোত্তর শ্রীবৃদ্ধিতে নিরলসভাবে কাজ করে যাচ্ছেন। পূজনীয় ধূতাঙ্গ ভান্তের ৫৫ জন শিষ্য-প্রশিষ্য আছেন যাদের মাঝে ২৫ জন বর্তমানে গভীর অরণ্যে ধ্যানরত রয়েছেন। বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন দেশ হতে পূণ্যার্থীগণ তাহার কাছে বুদ্ধধর্ম শিক্ষা ও ধ্যান শিক্ষা নিতে আসেন।বাংলাদেশে তাহার ৩৭ টি বৌদ্ধধর্মীয় প্রতিষ্টান আছে যেখানে যেখানে তাহার শিষ্যমন্ডলীরা ধ্যান অনুশীলন করে থাকেন।এছাড়াও ভিয়েতনাম-বাংলা আন্তর্জাতিক ভাবনা কেন্দ্র নামে তার ভিয়েতনামে একটি প্রতিষ্ঠান রয়েছে। ধর্মদানের মানসে তিনি দুবার ভিয়েতনামও গিয়েছিলেন।বাংলাদেশে সামান্য কিছু বৌদ্ধধর্মাবলম্বীর রয়েছে যারা চট্টগ্রাম অঞ্চলে বসবাস করে থাকে।তিনি প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চলের বৌদ্ধ পল্লীতে ধর্মালোচনার মাধ্যমে বুদ্ধধর্ম প্রচারে বিশেষ ভূমিকা পালন করছেন।
