    Thank you for the video. It would have been nice if you had explained what the attractive and repulsive forces are and how they operate.

      Good question did you ever get an answer?
      I assume its the intermolecular forces of the molecules you are working with ?

      Repulsive force - due to column force and Pauli expulsion principle
      Attractive force- Vander waal force

    In the non-contact mode /Tapping mode, when the tip doesnot touch the surface at all, so why not it just hovers above the surface with a attractive forces, (may be due to Tunneling electrons), why it needs the tapping in the first place?

      Non contact and tapping modes are different. Tapping involves occasional touching.

    if non contact afm is better then why still use contact afm

      Non-contact AFM reduces resolution
