I was around 10 years old and in the stadium on that day, I had never seen Azadi stadium that packed before; what a day.

I would like to mention something important about the Iranian goalkeeper Ahmad Reza Abedzaddeh , he was the key player for Iran win, his confidence, his throws with his hands, and kicks to put strikers in good position, it was fantastic

    Video Archive,
Many thanks for providing this great contest between a lively Australian side and a highly skillful Iran played in the most partisan atmosphere possible. Good presentation and analysis and really excellent match commentary. Second leg a treat to look forward to.

In 1997, SBS wasn't in my tiny Victorian town. This has changed my perspective of what happened.
I listened to this painting my deck.
I was surprised how under the pump we were (after Kewell scored) and didn't realise how important Bozza was.
Seemed like we got it wrong with Moore playing on Daei and Tobin on Azizi.
I had no idea that Taipei was an important sub, so he helped us get out of Tehran with a favourable result.

Bozza, great game in such a pressure cooker atmosphere. Ali Daei and Azzizi what great players, I can see why they played in the top flight Bundesligia in Germany. Azizzi is quicker than Messi. That Iran side was loaded with stars suited to international football, they had a top notch team, i'm surpassed they didn't do better at France 98. Our defence was pathetically organised in both legs, can't believe Venables didn't play Milan Ivanovic.

Thank Steve about your nice comments about Iranian 1998 team.
Iran beat USA at that World Cup, they played well but they made mistake and sacked the Iranian coach tomsilav Ivic the Croatian coach before the 1998 World Cup…

You Australian don't understand GOD supported us against you. Our goalkeeper was really infra European level. We said salavat in that game and AZAN was broadcasted at the end of match which shows we were more moral in that era.
