Yes, the problem with the VXR is piston number 4, these engines come out semi forged, not fully. So if you stage 2 map it without fully forging the engine i can almost guarantee that piston number 4 will melt and or go to space. One or the other.
picked up a r56 cooper s on the 8th of this month. It goes like absolute stink and the exhaust note even though it's stock is great. The engines aren't too bad if you look after them from what i can tell. I actually had a conversation with the guy selling that second r53 you showed and he seemed like a top bloke. For some reason he never returned my calls though so i went for the r56 instead.

I brought a polo gti 9n3 as a little project car a few months ago, what a great car… revo stage 1, exhaust and intake transform it. They only weigh 1167kg, power to weight is on point with 220bhp.. the 1.8 20v turbo is such a strong engine, and they are only going up in price.

My daily is a BMW 118d company car, so when I jump into the polo It always puts a smile on my face… suspension is next on the list of mods. I find there is not a lot of aftermarket upgrades for this year of polo.. its definitely the forgotten GTI. Grab one quick before people start to clock on😁

Id of personally said the grande punto T-jet, 120hp turbo from standard and a lot of owners have got them to 200hp with bolt ons and 300-350hp with heavy modifications. Decent handling and such a cheap car up until recently
Once upon a time you could get a nice 330ci E46 In that category though for whatever reason the prices for them have gone up ridiculously recently despite the fuel price increase
M3 are skyrocketing so much that people opt for non-M 3 series as their project cars. The 330 is the closest in terms of power so there you have why. Same happened with e36 325i and same with e30 325is/ix

I had a 2016 Corsa I bought brand new and it was faultless. In nearly 4 years it needed 2 tyres. Reasonably quick buy a bit heavy to be really good fun for me.
You missed out the Mitsubishi Colt CZT. 1.5 Turbo 4 cyl with 150bhp. Bulletproof reliability and extremely cheap for the performance. Remap gives 200bhp and they weigh very close to 1000kg so power to weight is good.
Triple checking we enjoyed the video at the end there at 12:09 😄 No surprises that the Polo is your favourite! I'd have that 2nd after the Panda I think, always had a soft spot for that. It did come out when I owned a Punto though so I'm a bit biased, I just think it looks the part (if driven by a young person) and seems like a proper fun car, not trying to be too serious.

Been looking at the newer shape Polo GTIs from Volkswagen (6C shape) But can’t quite afford one outright and the finance is exceptionally high. Think it’s about 10% APR which means you end up paying about £2/3K over the odds, which I can’t justify. Didn’t really think about the 9N3. May have a look, might be able to find a nice example

Mini all day long only because Ive had several good choice but we're was the Clio 182 you can definitely get 1 for upto £3000 ,polo GTi the 1.8t is a beauty I've had several Audi's with that engine and never had a minutes problem just serviced regularly and oil changes every 6-7000 . 130i can still keep up with hot hatches of today. Plus - RWD, NA I6, hydraulic steering 👌 With upgraded suspension and added LSD, they are sensational.
I had a fieSTa ST150 and I loved it, but it had oil consuming problem ( more than 1l oil/100km 🙄) although it was a fun car to drive. Now I have a Focus ST170 its almost as fun as the fieSTa but for daily use or for long roads the focus ST is a better car for me and the interior not feel as cheap as the fieSTas 😁😁
Those leon cupra were rapid back in the day, i saw a modded one going down the motorway and he was hauling serious ass, at least 150 ( i was doing 160)
Clio _172, 182 & 197_ are all attainable within budget and will dominate most of these on track and the road. Owned a few of these though and I'd recommend anything 1.9 *TDi* PD. Corsa VXR was the nicest place to be and most fun to drive, until it went bang. 😅

Seat Ibiza FR with 1.9 pd engine is the same car really as the Fabia vrs , much rarer than the Fabia and i was lucky enough to own 1 in i think 2007-8 ish. Liked it so much i had an Ibiza FR 2.0CR 140 a few years later i think 2012-13ish. Agree on the Polo though in this list keep up the good content.
Should've put the Alfa giulietta veloce in there. Can easily pick one up for under 3k now and they both look sick and handle well. Extremely unreliable but wouldn't trade it in for any other car on this lift.

Also maybe a cat d 1.7t 230hp Surely an alfa badge being rare holds some value, styling matches new model merc a class, even though could be from 2010! I'd say best lucking hatch back in this price range for a 5 door.. family car withover boost. 0 to 60 7.2 quicker for 1.7.

Can you do a video on the best cars you can get under 5k that have automatic gears. I have a disability that means I physically cannot use manual gears and think a lot of people would benefit.
I've owned a sirocco, golf R and Audi TT and maintain in a race where you never get a long enough straight to go over 70 the mini will keep with near anything. The golf R was a superior machine to the mini but could never love the golf like I loved my cooper s, the golf was an excellent machine but the mini was like a beloved family pet.
My Skoda fabia vrs which I still have after 14 years. Took it for a remap years ago and was told these are 150bhp standard and he remaped it to 175bhp. Skoda lied about there figures.

My favourite is a ZR 160, cheap to buy, run and get parts for. As long as the head gasket is done it's a great buy

You could definitely get into a nice 9n3 GTI for no more than £6k - just do a bit of hunting! The 6C is lovely though
My 9n3 polo is only a 1.4, not the 1.8 but still a great car! Definitely recommend looking for a 1.8 👌

This may blow the budget but a panda with the 1.4 t-jet swap seems to be a real sleeper. You can push those things to 180hp with relatively cheap mods
C2 vts 125 bhp most are well under 2k 0-60 8.3 not rapid but a decent warm hatch similar performance to the fiesta 150
