The closure of dealerships in China will be the canary in the coalmine for subsequent reductions in Europe and America, because many Western OEMs have been accustomed to making and taking VERY large profits in the Chinese market. The losses of revenue and profit that previously paid for global overhead and product development will directly impact future timelines and quality. VW Auto Group (VAG), etc. are going to take massive hits, and they will see massive contraction of their product lines, falling farther behind the leading edge.

The USA government still provides some incentives to get people to try EVs, but they don't force them. Consumers still buy far more ICE vehicles that EVs, I think it a 5:1 ratio, maybe even 6:1. It worked well with a few minor issues. Just bought a new VF6 +. We love this car. The only downside is the power is so high it makes the torque steer a little scary when you punch it. We just installed 8 KW of solar panels and batteries/inverter. We drive for free as the sun (a fusion reactor) provides the power. I threw our old Tokamak into the trash. Hi. Always enjoy your videos. Thanks for all the work you do keeping us informed. Living in Ireland the car I have at present is an ICE Nissan and I dearly hope my next car will be electric although I'm retired and not that well off. The worrying thing from your videos is that companies like Nissan are going bust and Chinese cars are the new thing - yet when I hear news like the Fisker company going bust and anyone who has one can no longer get it serviced or upgraded software etc. If we no longer have long-standing brands like Nissan or whatever that (whatever their quality) we at least believed they would still be there making parts (or with EVs upgrades) and repair centres etc.
How can we trust buying a Chinese brand, which although being 'superior' - the company itself may disappear and we're left with a car which if the screen goes - the *car* no longer works?
    Just wondering?????
As a comparable example some years back I bought a generic android phone that was much cheaper than Samsung and had good spec. The only problem was, when it fell and the screen broke, I had a problem getting a replacement. From then I just bought Samsung - not because I thought it was better but because I could buy (and replace myself) the screen as these were easy and cheap to get on the internet.
Will these new (and I can well believe superior) Chinese cars have the reliable infrastructure for us to get parts and software upgrades without which our cars will become 'bricks'?

Here in Canada we might not get to experience them in our market for some time. Certainly, I would not buy one today for fear of lack of lack of service infrastructure, but that’s not a knock on the car quality. I also think we in North America may end up thanking the Chinese for transitioning their mobility needs off fossil fuel based technology faster than we did.

Absolutely true Sam. People comment without ever trying a vehicle and deciding for themselves, based upon their findings. I haven't tried any EVs apart from a Tesla MY RWD which I owned and a BYD Atto 3 which I still own. Both of these vehicles I've found amazing. I know, based upon my usage and overall experience, that I would never ever go back to ICE vehicles. They are dead in my mind. I've even seriously given consideration to buying an ICE powered motorbike but just can't do it as I feel it would be a backwards step. I know that the motorcycle electric technology is not there yet generally, but I'd rather stick to my eBike - an electric assisted bicycle - and go for two wheel rides that way then buy some 500-750cc ICE pollution monster.

Oversupply and market saturation always end in mass “wealth “ destruction. This happens in every sector of the economy. There’s a lot to be said for better market regulation or management if you like. Look at the wine industry in Australia or other agricultural markets. A new niche market emerges and the early adopters expand quite rapidly. Then more companies appear or growers move into producing and before long the market becomes saturated. Then competition becomes fierce, prices drop and those producers lose financial situations are heavily indebted start to further erode prices and a downward spiral ensues. Eventually prices bottom out and bankruptcies start.

Personally I have no idea what is happening in China or whether Electric cars are any good. What I do think is that software is an electric cars achilles heal. If a particular cars software is no longer supported by the OEM, that car will become worthless and will only continue to work until the software stops working. This applies to modern ICE cars and you only need to look at computers, phones etc that OEM's withdraw support

The problem with EV opponents is that they don't understand how advanced EV technology is, but it is actually only at the beginning of development. And this is in contrast to legacy car technology, which has been in development for 150 years but basically offers nothing new. For a long time, people laughed about the range of EVs. Now they laugh about FSD. But this technology will come and change everything that has gone before. We are not just talking about how energy is consumed, but how energy will be produced and shared in the future. And I completely agree on one point. You have to test an EV yourself. But if you do that, you will almost certainly never buy a car with a combustion engine again. That is the experience I had.

The foreign car dealerships are the only one's who have suffered. The Chinese car makers are busy buying up the closing EU factories, to build their cars in Europe. No tariffs can apply to local makers.

The only customers legacy auto has in the United States are car dealerships whose profits model is based on car repairs and maintenance. Brake jobs, spark plugs, oil changes, exhaust, transmissions, starters, radiators are their money makers. EVs have no routine maintenance or repairs so they don't fit into the dealership profit model. The dealership model is based on ICE cars breaking down and needing expensive repairs. Therefore it is in the dealers interest to promote vehicles needing constant expensive maintenance and repairs. Why would they even want to sell any EVs that need no repairs? .Better to promote fear, uncertainty and doubt and get you to buy that familiar gas guzzler. It is a business model that doesnt make sense.
