Question-is it really true that water runs from north going south? I thought it only moved to the less resistance. 🤔

I was going to try to make a simple statement about what water does but I can’t. It goes downhill unless it’s underground and then can sometimes go uphill a bit. It goes to lower potential energy until it evaporates into the atmosphere and gains potential energy. It increases its entropy until it crystallizes and decreases its entropy. But mainly, for the purposes of the basics of pond building, it flows to lower elevation.

Nice work. I looked through your videos, hoping to find another pond build. One question. You say "berm" and not "dam". Is that a regional thing?

Yeah just regional colloquial terminology. Dams are for Australians 🤣

I will do some more videos and probably some walk-through a of older ones I built as well :)

@@jkochosc in texas they call them dams. But the whole thing is called a stock tank, not a pond. Lol

what do you think about only ground water feeding a pond. We dug test pits in a couple wet spots and it looked the same as your test pits

That’s the holy grail! Then you have as pure and good water as you can get. The question is whether the fill rate is large enough. I have a pond that is only ground water and during dry times it does drop significantly. But if your springs are productive enough, it’s the best!
