A very fair review. This camera with its selfie stick is fantastic for capturing shots that you simply can't with any other action camera, but the downside is that you gave to be very careful not to scratch or damage the dual lenses. I've found the official black silicon lens cover to be extremely useful when in the field - so the lenses don't get damaged when in my pocket or kit. The other downside as you mention, is the extra step in post production, where you have to export the shots you are after. (A lot of the time you've captured things you couldn't have seen when doing the actual shooting!). Most of the time I use this camera as a specialist tool, in conjunction with a Pocket 3 or Gopro.
I’m a travel content creator, and the S3 has been amazing for my videos and it’s really added a little bit of that extra angle I was looking for. Looking forward to seeing the X4 with a minimum 1 inch sensor. Also, a little more clarity out of the camera.
Why would they go with a 1" sensor on the X4 when they already have the One RS in the same form factor with a 1" sensor? I think the goal should be to use this same X3 design but with replaceable lenses and better computer chips to handle more intensive video/photo processing so the 360 video and photos are at least 1440p. 4K would be best but that might be a little too much to ask for. In fact i360 might be waiting on technology to catch up with their desire to do just that. Hardware + Software + Affordability = A Great X4 in my humble opinion.
@@underthedrone2735 they will replace the sensor on the 1rs one inch and push forward with a bigger sensor on the x3. Removable lenses would be great so that I dont have to treat it as an egg on a stick. But better low light would be great. i think they may even put AI chip on fhe x4 also.
@@JSAUC3 I just got in my x3 , the x4 is not that much of an upgrade . 4K video is just that . Wont notice much of a difference . Amazon deal days is when I took the plunge and love it
I love this camera and have created lot of fun videos on it along with some of the footage captured on this used as key transition scenes in my some of my main films shot on my main full frame camera. Its surely a fun camera but one big time compliant is that the protruded lenses get scratched easily. I already have got big scratches on one of the lenses and when I approached the Insta360 for the repairs, I learnt that the repairing cost is very high and I will ave to send the camera out of my country for the repairs. So ditched the plan to repair.
This video reminds me that I've got an X3 in the cupboard! I must get it out and use it some more. I found it was fantastic for family videos a few months ago when my little grandchildren visited, but I tend to carry the Pocket 3 around with me more often now. Still, the X3 is an excellent tool for appropriate jobs, and thanks for the encouragement to get it out and turn it on!
Great review - THANKS. However I have a question about the audio. Can this be removed in insta360 without making it into a "project" and loosing the 360 view? If I should use another app to edit to remove the sound, then do you know which app have something similar to "direction lock" so this is not missing during editing? How you can help, I have seen a large number of tutorials by now ;)
Awesome video as always Aldryn....it was thanks to you that I picked up the One X2, X3, and Pocket 3 😎. At 5:28 you said it's not exporting at 4k but when I check the exported clip details, it shows 3840x2160.....isn't that 4k?
I still use the X2 I won from your giveaway all the time, and I have not damaged the lens at all! I have been thinking about upgrading to the X3 for a while now, but doing my best to hold off for the x4.
Hello. I am a big fan of your interesting videos! I would like to record video and audio in a GA aircraft. To record audio (e.g. intercom and ATC), I am forced to use a GoPro in combination with NFlight audio cable. Would it be a good plan to combine an Insta360 X3 or rather another GoPro to record different angles during flight? Looking forward to your reply! Please keep making good videos!
I just returned mine 🙁 did care for the heat, and I'm sorry to say the video quality is not good. It is still very impressive and certainly worth the money. Just was not what I thought I was getting. But really really cool.
I ride eucs and find the lens distortion can almost be ignored after everything I can easily do in post. I use the lens covers and beat the daylights out of them frequently...video still looks great even with scratches, and I keep a supply of them as soon as I see scratches.
I don't know much about cameras and goin on solo visit to some mountain, can anyone suggest good camera for beginner like me for quality pictures and videos? Is the camera mentioned in the video worth renting or go pro or any other options
Do you know of a way to upload footage in 24 fps in the phone app? I mountain bike and shoot in 24 fps but when I go to create a video and then Export it, it only gives me 30 fps which defeats the point of shooting in 24 fps. Any help would be so appreciated! Thank you!

Yup the lens is so prone to scratches, that’s why these companies need to come up with a self repairable option

Do you use the extra lense protection, if so are there any pros and cons with that set up. Thanks
I don’t. Lens and light refraction distortion can occur.

Can this record my full court basketball games if I put it on a tripod?

I hate the post processing of 360 video.
Ya it takes work. That’s why I do like the ai tracking they offer. Helps speed up some of it.
